Hi, I'm Laura. I'm a senior in college & I'm slowly deciding what I want to do with my life. I love Harry Potter, coffee, writing, and sleeping (amongst other things). I'll never claim to know everything, but I'm confident in my ability to help people with their problems. Feel free to send me an inbox question; I'll get back to you!
A few thoughts I've gathered from my teenage years (and being on this site for most of them!):
1. If you Google song lyrics, the song will come up 99% of the time.
2. Dress to fit your body type, and buy the size that fits. If you're a size 6, squeezing into a 4 won't make you look skinnier. It makes you look fat when you aren't.
3. You will never regret waiting to lose your virginity.
4. There is such a thing as a stupid question, but we're all allowed to ask them.
BU 2014 :)
wicked awesome conversations
^my forum, liven it up a little?
advice
okay i know this may sound kinda stupid but,
what exactly does PDA mean?
thanks in advance :)
It can also mean Public Display of Affection.
Next time, Google first!
15/f does anyone have the env2 phone and how do you like it? does the camera work okay, not having a flash? also - i havn't seen the phone in person, only online, which color looks better in person; the maroon or black? thank you!
My cousin has that phone. I don't know a thing about the camera, sorry. But she loves the keyboard, because without it it takes forever for her to text. The maroon color is wicked nice, I personally think it's far superior to black =]
My experience with other Verizon phones is that the camera will work just fine without the flash, in normal light. In the dark, it's almost impossible to get anything but a really grainy picture no matter what kind of flash you've got.

Remington Wet2Straight Straighning Flat Iron
how come i hear about that straightener a lot? ITS SO CHEAP! i dont think it wud work! DOES it?
It works amazingly well. My hair got wicked straight whenever I used it. It doesn't burn your fingers anymore than any other straightener could. The steam produced by straightening wet hair can burn. Steam is hot. Hot things burn. Becareful, and you'll be alright. Plus, straightening wet hair is bad anyways. It's wicked awesome on dry hair!
It's cheap, but who cares? Price isn't always an indicator of quality [often it is, at least to an extent]. I had a Wet2Straight for almost 3 years and just recently replaced it with a Solia [$90]. The only difference is that the Solia gets hotter, and if I had had to pay for it myself, I probably would have gone with another Wet2Straight, haha. It's definitely worth the price, and it can really take a beating, so it's great if you're klutzy.

Me and my ex liked each for a long time and then started going out at the beginning of september last year, and we broke up in december.
But even though we weren't officially going out after that we were still one of those couples, we were always on and off, we always liked each other and we were more than friends.
But then a few weeks ago we had hardly seen each other and he started to like someone else (who is actually a lot like me) and he told me he was over me.
I still really like him and at first I was trying to get over him, but then me and him started hanging out a lot, acting like we used to and flirting. He's mentioning this other girl less, although I know he still likes her. He always invites me out and if I say I can't come he always acts upset like he really wants me to come. The other day we spoke for like an hour on the phone, I always catch him looking at me the way he used to, and we make a lot of eye contact. And when someone mentioned this other guy (someone I met and who I do like but only in a harmless way and who has a gf anyway) he got all quiet.
I really want to be with him, I just don't know how to win him over. I mean, I think he likes me and he think he likes the other girl.
How do I get him to want to be with me again?
(and don't suggest ignoring him or spending time apart because that kind of thing doesn't work with him)
Thanks, x
Forgive me if my advice sounds mixed up. I'll try to make this not-confusing :]
He likes another girl. This girl must like him too, because she's only not dating him because he's confused about how he feels about you/isn't yet over you. He has two girls who like him, and yet he's single. Obviously he can't make up his mind [yet] and should best be left alone[single].
It's entirely possible that he still cares about you. This would explain the texts, and hanging out/flirting. Exes can be friends, and even still check up on each other to make sure you're okay and such. Yeah, it really sucks sometimes because it can result in mixed signals. And it can be interpreted wrong too, trust me I know firsthand. =/
So, ultimately you broke up for a reason. Have you talked to him straight up about this whole thing? It's the only definitive way to know how he feels. You'll find out right from the source if he's still not over you, or wants to be with this other girl. Maybe he's hung up on thinking that you're not over him and is contemplating this the same way. Talk to him; it's the best way. As for how to do this? Just blurt it out- "I want to be with you again". Don't dance around the subject.

anybody know a good product that helps get rid of acne scars??
The best thing that fades them is time. I can from personal experiences say that the best products to use for them are salicylic acid spot treatments [they reduce scarring, seem help fade scars faster, and make zits smaller, so they leave less of a scar to begin with]. Prevention also helps, because fewer zits=less scarring. Physician’s formula liquid concealer is absolutely amazing at hiding marks. If yours are very red, choose the double-tipped one. One side has concealer, the other has green stuff that cancels out the red and makes them easier to cover. It's weird, but can work wonders when you get the hang of it.

Okay, so its been three years that i've known a certain boy. Two I spent pining and doing stuff with him, growing to be good friends with him and unfortunately falling in love with him. He's a health hazard, bottom line. He cheats, he lies, he sleeps around, Idk what I even see in him.
And I have many guys who are waiting in line, and yet I dont feel any fraction of the attraction I feel with this boy. I am in love with him and there is not a doubt in my mind.
We dated for a few weeks recently and he kissed another girl. We broke up.
Should I give him another chance?
Thanks for inboxing! :]
Honestly, I wouldn't. Unless you want a guy who's going to cheat, lie, and sleep around [and I don't see why you would] I'd run away, fast.
I'm assuming you love him for other aspects of his personality- not the lying/cheating/generally being a huge asshole part =] It's not a bad thing to be friends with him; some people can suck at relationships but be good friends to have around. But you could find someone better to be involved with romatically.

what does gray hair mean? like in the haircolor box? haa i know it doesnt literally mean GRAY colored hair,
It means that if your hair is greying [like when people age, their hair loses its color] you shouldn't use certain colors because it'll look unnatural. Lots of colors labeled 100% grey coverage will work on hair that isn't grey too.
Ammonia is a common ingredient in hairdye. It can be drying, but ammonia-free products might not last as long.

when im putting on my contacts like that... wont the contact SLIP? cuz it wet even when my finger is DRY.
No. They stick to your finger like that. But your eye is wetter than your finger so it sticks to your eye afterwards. It's weird but you get used to it quickly.
Hi, okay so like 19 days ago I started my birth control.. Its called ortho tri-cyclen lo if that helps any.
Anyways so my last period was on July 19th so as you can see im late.
But I havent had unprotected sex or anything and the thingie says I will be protected the first day I take it if its a day one and 7 days if its a sunday start.
So theres like no possible way im pregnant. I know im not. [hopefully] but why am I so late? Is it because of my birth control?
&& I feel like im getting my period soon but ive also felt like this for a few days..
Any answers?
Please and thank you.
The first couple months you'll be irregular. You won't get your period like you used to, you'll get it when you start taking the inactive pills [sometimes not for a few days]. Or, you might not have a period at all the first month or two.
EDIT: It's okay to use tampons once you start your period. It's not a great idea to use them before or after, a thin pad is a better alternative.
16/f..average height (5'6) and weight.
All the jeans that I ever buy are mostly stretchy. I rarely buy non-stretchy jeans. However, all of them always sag at my butt or my thighs. And I have no idea why. I wash them..and they'll shrink..but then at the middle of the day they'll get huge in the back area. So then I'd be forced to put a belt on...and when I'm forced to adjust that belt tightly, my butt becomes even MORE visible. Why is this? Why do they always stretch way out and sag? :(
Another option is to buy your jeans a size smaller. They'll be tight when you first put them on, but as they stretch out they won't be as visibly baggy.
Also, buy jeans with a smaller amount of spandex [99% cotton, 1% spandex] and they'll stretch less.
can i use

tell me if you like it and gives a good biiggg hair
=]
i love hair. thanks =]
Actually, I'm pretty sure the first product is meant for people who already have curly hair. Like, it's a product to enhance curls, not make them.
Whenever I curl my hair [I have to straighten it first, though] I use extra-hold hairspray. I also use this method when curling other people's hair, so I know it works on different textures [curls typically come out wicked good if you start with straight hair, or hair with a bit of a wave].
Aussie Hi-Hold & Hi-Shine is the best I've ever used, and it seems to last forever. I spray each individual section before I curl it, and they hold up wel [even at dances, so everyday stuff is no problem].
The only root lifter I've used that worked well was Matrix Amplify Root Lifter. Avon makes good products, though, and it's a lot cheaper, so I'd give it a try. You'll need to experiment with your hair, to realize what will work best for you.

A lot of times when I stand up or sit up after laying down, I black out. My vision goes all black for about five seconds and I feel a bit dizzy.
I don't know why this is happening... I haven't changed my eating or exercise habits at all. I eat enough and I do about 30 minutes of cardio a day.
Any idea why this is happening?
Thanks
This happens to a lot of people, it's because you're moving to a different position than before & the blood rushes out of your head a bit.
To be on the safe side, I'd mention it to a doctor, but unless you exhibit other symptoms, he'll probably tell you the same thing.

so if my friends and i were to seran wrap or post-it note someone's car, thats not illegal is it? because it's not vandalizing property? anything we could get in trouble for by law?
Yes, you could get in trouble, because it's vandalism.
Sticking almost anything to a car could destroy the paint job because the heat will bake it in.
If you're wanting to play a prank on a friend, write on the windshield with something washable. I'm not sure what that is, ask a car dealership what you can use to write on the window.
how much does it cost to get plastic surgery on your boobs? cept for making em bigger i want to make em smaller(from my DD to a B) how much would you think that'd cost????
You'd have to check with your insurance company, and/or have a consult with a plastic surgeon.
Lots of times, breast reductions are covered by health insurance because they're done for medical reasons [like back pain or indented shoulders] as opposed to purely cosmetic purposes.

how can i get my hair like that?
[focus on the big poof part]
You could probably achieve that style of bangs with a blowdryer, and some root lifter sprayed when your hair's same. If you need more smoothness, go over that part with either a straightener or curling iron [whichever you're more confortable with]. Hairspray for hold [use a continuous spray, so that your hair doesnt get dampened down again]
Okay so im f/18 and my sis is 15.
Our cusins f/19 and 15 are comming down to visit for a week and they are staying at my place.
What are some cheaper things we can do... or places we could go? I think were spending a day at the amusment park and another shopping and probly go to a movie...
If any one has any other ideas, shoot!
THANKS!
When you're out shopping, pick up some cheap DVD movies you find interesting, or have strange names. Buy snacks at the supermarket and have a movie night at home too.
You could do each other's hair and nails, if you enjoy things like that. Or at least do some spa treatments ['cause really, who wouldn't benefit from a clay mask once in awhile?]
Since you're family, and know each other a little, you'll probably find ways to make your own fun. If all else fails you've got the Olympics to watch!

what's the song "white houses" by vanessa carlton about?? sorry this is really random
It's about losing her virginity.

Okay so I have really damaged hair. It's super short because I tried to cut off as much of it as I could so It wouldn't be as damaged. It looks terrible. Its two different colors because I don't want to dye it anymore. I want to get a wig until it starts to grow out and isn't as damaged. It just sounds embarresing to me, And I don't want it to like blow off or something..lol. Any advice on what I should do?
I'd use Clairol Natural Instincts to even out the color if possible, and find styles that worked. Maybe a ponytail, or straighten just the front, scrunch the rest?
It's only hair, and it'll grow back soon enough. Plus, you'll have less damage too!
Heyy my boyfriends birthday is in september and i pretty much have it all planned out.
I'm gonna give him a $50 gift card to Hollister (it's pretty much all he wears)
And i'm gonna get him some chocolate covered pretzles cause i know they're his favorite.
Then I want to take him to south street in philly cause it's his favorite place, and while there I can take him to go get a philly cheese steak cause that's his favorite food!
Do you think this sounds good?
I would LOVE to hear your ideas and suggestions!
Thanks everyone!
That sounds great. You're giving a guy money to spend at a favorite store, food, and more food to eat later! It's just about perfect.
Make him a card, too, or buy a funny one and write something cute/funny inside. It's a nice, personal touch. And offer to go shopping together, if it's something he'd like to do =]

Im a normal 17 yr old girl. I know rape is wrong, and I would never want to be raped, but I have recurring sexual fantasies about being raped or beaten during a sexual experience. I most certainly don't want that hapening in real life, but I continually have these fantasies which turn me on. I am worried that I am "sick" or weird. Are these types of fantasies normal?
I'd say you're normal. Lots of people have strange fantasies and unless you act on them [and it hurts someone else, or yourself] it's nothing to worry about.
I've heard of roleplaying that involves the staging of an attack or assault, so you're definitely not alone.
