Whenever I curl my hair [I have to straighten it first, though] I use extra-hold hairspray. I also use this method when curling other people's hair, so I know it works on different textures [curls typically come out wicked good if you start with straight hair, or hair with a bit of a wave].
Aussie Hi-Hold & Hi-Shine is the best I've ever used, and it seems to last forever. I spray each individual section before I curl it, and they hold up wel [even at dances, so everyday stuff is no problem].
The only root lifter I've used that worked well was Matrix Amplify Root Lifter. Avon makes good products, though, and it's a lot cheaper, so I'd give it a try. You'll need to experiment with your hair, to realize what will work best for you.

Basically you have to try a little bit of this and a little bit of that to find the stuff that works perfectly for you. [ Kittzen's advice column | Ask Kittzen A Question ]
