well lately ive been crushing on this guy named joe. joes a skaterguy and is very popular. so i never really hung out with him a lot. so me and him really got close since like the past 2 wks. on monday, joe sat next to me in ela.. he kept talking to me.
on tuesday, he sat next to me again and he kept cracking me up and making me laugh and he passed notes with me and all this stuff. so his friends fred and mitch were sitting behind us and when i passed him a note and he read it he went to give it back to me and i got it but his friend mitch grabbed the note and read it with fred. so 2 minutes later i heard mitch and fred whispering and fred said \"joe told me over the weekend he does\" so then mitch comes up to me and says, \"arie, joe likes you and he wants to go out with you.\" so then joe jumps up and says\" i dont like arie.\" joe then started blushing. then i was like its fine. and then joe was like, \" dont listen to them i dont like you.\" so then that was it. also in the hallways that day, all his friends were like\" joe, you told her?\" and then one said , \" there she is joe\" and they were looking at me. also i just walked away to get away. and a minute later ( i was gone) my friend told me him and his friend marc were walking and marc was like \"wheres arie? joe has to tell her something.\" and joe was blushing and said \"i dont like her\".
extra info:
*after i heard joe whisper to his friends, yeah that joke was so funny arie said.
*my friend asked him monday ( day before this happened) do you like arie? and he said why are you jealous? ( he doesnt like me friend.)
do you think joe likes me? or not?
This is the sort of thing I never ever had any sort of success interpreting when I was in school. Always was a huge mystery to me why things have to be made to be so complicated.
Anyway, now that you know that you are not dealing with an expert, I would guess that he does like you. The only thing that is a little strange is how strongly he denies it, but if he was put on the spot it could well be that he is very embarrassed. Either way, my advice would be to talk to him in private- without anyone even knowing you are talking together. That way some of the pressure is off and he can be honest about how he feels.
Good luck.
Hiii!
I've been working out awhile now, and I hardly eat "junk food" (when I say junk food, I mean like chips, fast food, candy etc.). However, is it really bad if I cheat out and eat ice cream once in a while? Or eat 2 bowls of rice or something like that?
--- Thanks :)~
No of course not. It just has to be once in a while thats all.
I want to tone up before the summer months hit. Any good ideas?
I also want to lose some weight because I am overweight. Any good diet plans I can do. But I am in school for almost all day. I'm also working put 30 mins a day but I think I need
more excersies.
Half an hour a day is fine. You can do more of course, but you certainly dont need to.
The thing that needs to be put under control is your diet. If you follow a few simple rules you will be just fine:
- Eat many small meals every day. About one every 3- 4 hours.
- Keep your fat content fairly low, and make sure that most of the fat you do eat is unsaturated. That means cutting out as much animal fat as possible.
- Intake a small amount of unsaturated fat daily, making sure you get some omega 3. This is found in things like oily fish, flax, walnuts, dark green leafy vegetables, etc.
- Drink plenty of water
- Try to eat the slightly larger meals before periods of activity and slightly small ones when you are about to rest/ sleep.
- Base your meals around a lean protein source and eat moderate amounts of carbs. For example a meal might be something like skinless chicken breast/ fish/ lean beef/ etc, 50g of whole wheat pasta/ rice/ etc and some vegetables. Or in the morning it might be a bowl of oats in skimmilk and a few walnuts. You get the idea. The key here is eating moderately but still giving your body the fuel it needs.
- Oh and limit or eliminate empty calories from things that have sugar added, junk foods, etc.
Good luck
what is the best business major that pays well? i might be considering out of these: accounting, finance, international business(im chinese), or marketing..
This is a tough question because all of them have a lot of potential. I would put it this way. With accounting and finance it will be much easier to find a job, and that job will almost always pay more in the early stages. There seems to be no shortage on the demand for accountants, at least in my area of the world, and I do believe their starting salary is pretty good.
That being said, the others have a different sort of potential. You will never rise to become CEO of a multinational corporation as an accountant. There you need to have solid management skills and a broader experience base. Similarly, if one looks at entrepreneurship, there again one sees a path with very high potential and even greater risks.
So, with a degree in something like accounting I believe you will be safer, you will have an easier time finding a job and you will earn more in the early stages. With international business and marketing your path is far less clear and you can take it in many directions. There is virtually no bottom or top limit on what you might earn with those degrees. I definitely believe that in the hands of a very ambitious and capable person they have more long term potential, but this may just be my opinion.
Now, I would sooner look at what you like to study. For example, in my case, I detest accounting. I would sooner bang my head into the wall than balance a balance sheet. On the other hand I always found international business, marketing, strategy and so on fascinating. The choice for me was easy enough.
It might be harder for you, but I would really consider the fact that you might end up working with these subjects for most of your life. Pick something that you find at least somewhat interesting or even a bit fun. It will also improve the quality of your work.
Good luck.
Let's start off with the fact that i love to act, i've been in over 15 shows, but recently i was performing Romeo and Juliet, and i got the role of Juliet. Well the guy who was Romeo was kind of a nerd and i didn't want to kiss him on stage at all, but after going threw that scene where i kissed him i kind of liked it. Later in rehearsals and cast parties we started to hang out and we flirted a lot! And i started to really like him. So i went to his best friend and told her that i liked him and asked if he might like be back, but she flicked me off and told me that she was in love with him and that he probably hated me. Do you think i have the right to be mad at her and keep flirting with him or should i just stop liking him?
Well if he is not spoken for, it should be up to him to decide who to be with. If you want to flirt all you like... until he has an official girlfriend. This girl just sounds jealous.
what's a program similar to powerpoint that i can download for free? all ones that i've tried to download are too much like movie maker.
Download the Openoffice suite. Openoffice Impress is pretty much the exact same thing as powerpoint.

Okay I'm on a diet.
and I drink Organic milk no matter what but I started drinking 1% does that help my losing weight at all or is it wasting my time. i'm 15 if that helps.
I agree with Laura. Because we tend to drink it in fairly large amounts, milk is one food where the fat percentage is very important. While we consider 5% meat low fat, we dont often eat half a kilo of it in one sitting. Drinking half a litre of milk is quite common though.
So, yes low fat milk definately helps keep you trim by limiting your intake of calories and of saturated fats. And it has less cholesterol too.
this girl who ive never met before just started a bunch of crap with me and a few people. its getting to the point where its going to have to be handled in person.
i'm into kickboxing classes, so i know how to punch pretty hard.
bottom line is, if it gets down to the point where needed, i will punch this girl in the face.
please dont preach how violence isnt the answer
but just a few questions
1. how much trouble can i get in?
2. i dont want to like hurt her permanently, but like a nice bruise or something would be good, so how would i go about doing that?
Even though I do know a fair amount on the subject, I will not advise you on how to hurt this girl. I will comment on question 1 however.
How much trouble you can get into depends very much on your age. It would help if you specify it.
If you are very young, i.e. in the low teens, you will probably get detention, and they might contact your parents. That is of course presuming nothing goes wrong and you end up seriously hurting this girl. Then the punishment could be suspension or worse.
If you are an adult then they will take this more seriously. I am not familiar with American laws on unarmed fighting but here, in Denmark, if you know a martial art they consider you "armed". Its a terribly unfair rule in my opinion but thats a different story.
Either way what will matter is how the fight began (i.e. how it looked like it began to onlookers). If it escalates from a argument they will regard it more of a mutual blame. If she gets physical with you too then you will both be blamed equally unless you overreact (there is a fine line between self defense and punishment). If you are young the consequences of the things I just mentioned shouldnt be too great. But, if you walk up to her and whack her one on the nose (seemingly without provocation to onlookers), you would be in worse trouble.
how does a person become a personal trainer
Hey there. Basically you have to be certified by an organisation that does that sort of thing. I am in the process of getting my certification now, and I can tell you it was quite confusing trying to figure out where to go.
The problem with personal trainer certifications is that there are no overall standards. That means that different organisations give different level tests (different in terms of difficulty and in terms of cost). Some are total rubbish and are not really respected.
After some guidance by another personal trainer from this site I chose to go with ISSA:
http://www.issaonline.com/index.cfm?
The reason for that was that they were internationally recognised, and it was co-founded by one of the most respected people in the industry. However there were a few other reputable organisations that I was told would also be good. To quote the answer I got:
"AFPA, NFPT, ACE are also good choices"
I can tell you that to actually become a personal trainer (at least from ISSA) goes something like this:
You get a large book and some study material. You can study the stuff at your leisure and take the test when you are ready. You get CPR certified (its a must). You send the test in to them (which contains multiple choice and essay questions), as well as your CPR certification. If you pass they certify you. Then you need to re-certify every two years so as to keep your degree current. It costs about 5-600 dollars to order the course depending on whether they are running a promotional offer or not.
Hope that helps. Good luck.
My boyfriend is 23 years old, 5'10" and about 150 pounds. He really wants to gain weight, and so far nothing has worked. I cook him healthy fatty meals like veggies and nuts and avocado, but he also eats fast food once a day and other very high fat unhealthy choices. He also drinks at least a half gallon of whole milk a day. For a while we were keeping track of his calorie intake and most days it was between 3000-6000. He works as a car mechanic and does not do any other physical activity after he gets home from work. We cannot understand why he does not gain weight! Please help.
You know if you could get him to go to the gym and start lifting weights, I guarantee you that he will gain weight.
I know the type, one of my best friends is like that. He can eat like a swine and remain a tiny little Ghandi-like figure (he actually is Indian btw). Now I couldnt get my friend to stick with the gym, but in the 4 months or so that he did come, there were results.
So, the key is a high calorie diet combined with a weight training routine based on big compound lifts (e.g. squats, deadlifts, bench presses, rows, presses, etc.).
At least thats the healthy way, and it will give him strength and energy to spare as well. If he is interested and needs advice on how to start you can drop me a question if you like.
Good luck.
how come guys some year will act like they hate you and dont want anything to do with you, and then after a few years, they start to like you.
cause thats the problem that im having, in like 5-7th grade, guys acted like they didnt want anything to do with me, and now, in 8th grade, guys are all over me, and my mom said that their going to keep getting more interested in me as the years of high school come.
can anyone explain to me why their like that..its really confusing...
thanks for all your help.
This one comes down to biology. As we approach the right age we naturally become more attracted to the opposite sex. It is what ensures that our species survives.
Very little in nature happens by chance. At an early age there is no need for this attraction, since we have not yet matured and developed the ability to have children.
In 5- 7th grade guys really didnt want to have anything to do with you. It was no act. They had not yet developed the capacity for that kind of attraction. As they reach their sexual peak they should become more and more interested. Guys tend to peak by their early twenties if memory serves.
Its just the way things work, not just for us but many other species as well. The behaviour is regulated by the hormones that are released with sexual maturity.
My coach is choosing 11 people out of my team (15 players).
The 11 chosen, MUST show effort.
How can i show effort, but not show off at the same time???
If it helps:
(I'm an OKAY player, the others in my team are around the same level as me... some are better...!!)
Thanks so much in advance!!

Push yourself to the limit and dont give up. Sounds simple, but most people dont do this.
Coaches like to see players that give it everything they got. The attitude you want is that of a hard working central defensive midfielder. Think of someone like Edgar Davids or Gattuso. Run til you throw up, dont back down from any challenge, pressure your oponents, support your teammates and fear no one.
Ok so its pretty much a fact that I'm slow whn it comes to jokes. But seriously -- does this one make sense? Really? Cause if it does someone better explain it to me!
Q: What do you get when you have a pencil + a pen?
A: Pen-N-Cil?
What the heck? lol
Is it like "Pen And Cil?" cause in that case - what the heck is a cil?
Well it doesnt make an ounce of sense to me either.
I got abdominal swelling, its not fat and my abdomin is swollen. About a year ago I took anabolic steriods, one being Deca Derabolin , which might have caused it. Now I looking for a cure.
Im sorry, I am really not familiar with the effects of steroids (except in very broad general terms).
This is a pretty specific question though, so I would really take it up with a doctor.
Sorry I cant be of more help. Good luck.

if i start running everyday for like a hour or so will that trim like my stomach down too or just my legs?
i want to get toned but i don't know what to do about my stomach because i got my belly button peirced recently and i'm not comfortable with crunches yet.
thanks so much!
If you are interested in losing fat this will do just fine. Stomach exercises train the muscles, they do not burn fat from the area. It follows that you do not need to do crunches or anything else in order to trim your stomach.
In fact, by doing cardio you will be miles ahead of 99% of the people on this site who think they need to isolate the area in order to slim down.
Edit: Needless to say, no matter what you do your diet will make or break any attempts to lose weight.
My friend (used to be best friend) that i've known since 6th grade, (in 11th now) just picked up smoking weed and thinks shes the coolest person in the world, but really she has no idea what shes doing.
and shes doing some pretty stupid crap. like driving while high, doing donuts and getting flat tires-- going to class high, growing it, and trying to get her friends who are starting to really dislike her into it. not to mention she doesnt know what kind shes smoking. what if its laced with iono salvia?
Shes hurting herself and her family and her friends. She got kicked out of the band program (which was her favorite but now weed is) and shes just going downhill. i wouldnt get so worried if it was someone who could control it, or do it socially once in a while- not smoking up every day by yourself like she does now.
I've been thinking about anonymously reporting her to the police. something needs to happen to let her know shes doing something thats just plain stupid- and dangerous, mentally and physically.normally i would never rat anyone out for this kind of stuff, but shes my friend and i worry about her.
should i report her to the police or not?
Well I agree that this girl is definately on the wrong track. I am not sure if the police is the right choice though. If I were in your shoes I would sooner let her parents know, then they can make the decision of what is the best next step.
So 16/f/150lbs/5 feet tall. (my other question sorta thing can be found below).. the one about an obsession with chocolate.
Anyhoo. My parents bought me a gym pass & I want to lose ~30 lbs
I don't really have a huge problem with food, or atleast I don't think I do (toast + egg for breakfast, turkey sandwich for lunch, and rice w/ some sort of meat... and fruits for snacking & water).
For the gym, which I will go to 3-4 times a week; my goal is to exercise off 600-700 calories on cardio equipment (elliptical/arc trainer thing/threadmill). I'm not sure how many calories I'd actually lose with weights ontop of the amount lost on cardio.
So yeah: How long will it take to shed 30 lbs?
Sounds like a decent plan. I agree with the answer below, it should take approx 4 months.
If you dont mind a little advice I would like you to consider a few modifications to your routine/ diet.
First, if you are going to train with weights, you will need more protein. This is important since weight training damages the muscle fibres. If you want them to repair properly (and overcompensate), then you will need more good quality protein. I would recommend working a protein source into your snacks. Shakes are fine as supplements here but it can also be something like cottage cheese.
Second, make sure you get a small regular supply of good fats (from sources like oily fish, walnuts, olive oil, canola, flax, etc). This is actually important for weight loss as well as general health.
The last thing I wanted to add was in regards to the cardio equipment. Dont get me wrong, any machine is good as long as you use it, but dont underestimate the stairmachine. It has benefits that none of the things you mentioned can provide. This is because it is a weight bearing exercise and your body responds best to that (even the highest inclines on other contraptions cannot match its effect). Moreover it stresses the joints much much less than the treadmill for example.
Well I hope things go well for you.
Good luck.
i know athesists believe in nothing but what else do they believe in?
The answer below is very good. Athiests are skeptics. They require proof before they commit to a belief. Atheism is very much unlike a religion, in that athiests do not have a common code or set of rules. They can have very different philosophies on life, ethics, morality, etc.
So you see, one cannot answer your question since each athiest will be totally different. The only thing they have in common is that they refuse to accept the notion of religion, the supernatural, God(s), etc. without adequate proof.
In essence they do not grant religion preferential treatment. They demand that those philosophies must provide the same evidence that we would expect any other theory to provide. However beyond that athiests do not have anything else in common.
Well, my friend admitted that she was bulimic. I researched what that meant, and it says that it is forcing yourself to vomit. I don't even understand how that would work. I really want to relate to what my friend is going through and how I can help her stop, since it's so obviously a bad thing.
So, what is she doing that I have to prevent?
How does one make themselves puke?
They simply stick their fingers down their throats. Vomiting will come naturally as long as one is a bit persistent.
You should not try to handle this yourself. This is a serious condition and you should talk to a parent or guardian or counselor. Let the adults handle this one since there is no way you can prevent her from vomiting when she goes to the bathroom.
I knew a bulimic girl, one give away was very long "showers" where the water was running very loudly shortly after meals.
okay. long story. okay. so yesterday "thursday" some kids dared me and this girl to kiss. so we did. and so someone convinced me to tell my b/f. and so did. and he got really pissed. but he "said" he got over it and he wasn't pissed anymore [[yesterday]] so today, i went to this thing after school. and so i got these 3 guys to call him and say "dude, your girlfriend is a really good kisser" and hang up. but i NEVER made out with any of them. and he got really mad. and he left a comment on my profile. it says. "I will never trust you again. You broke my heart.I trusted you with everything now that is shattered.you meant everything to me now you mean nothing i will remember you but hope i will forget.you were my life, but thats now over. I HATE YOU" i don't know if he means it. and i don't feel bad for getting them to call him. but i do feel a little guilty because i hurt him. but i don't really care about him. or i don't want to. because everyone i've ever dared to love has gone. and. i just need to know if i should care. i mean. we've been through alot. and i do think i love him. but i don't want to. i mean. i care. but. what should i do. i don't wanna loose him. i really don't. i can't afford to. i mean. he's been there for me through all my bullshit. and i think i hurt him really badly. and. i really just need to know what to do.
i don't know what to do without him. and i guess i do care. but i dont want to [[sorry for the repitition]] please help. everytime me and him have gotten in a huge fight i started cutting again or i've attempted suicide. i really need him in my life. i can't lose him.
There have been some really good answers below. Someone wrote that you should try to put yourself in his shoes. This is very good advice in general in life. Before you say something, before you do anything, put yourself in the other person's position and see how it would come across.
I dont understand the way you shift from thinking you do care about this guy, to saying that you think you love him. I mean, correct me if I am wrong, but havent you answered your own question? Particularly in the last two sentences?
The main lesson to be learned here is that people are not toys to be played with. I cannot believe that even someone only 13 years old would not have realised how that "prank" would make your boyfriend feel.
So, what you should do now is to crawl back to him and apologise. It can be a real blow to ones pride, but I can safely say that I would do it if I were in your shoes. If you are fortunate he might forgive you, but it is a bit unlikely. I dont know what this is worth to you, but at least you would know that you did the right thing and apologised for your mistake.
Of course you should also definately talk to someone about your suicidal tendencies.
Take this as a learning experience. It may hurt but in the long run but, as S_C said below, its all about not making the same mistakes twice.
Good luck.
