The best thing to do is just go up to one and ask.I don't know what field you are interested in but I bet no one is going to bite your head off for saying "how did you get started or what made you want to do this"? I do know that it takes some schooling.I think if you do get into it,it will be very rewarding for you. Before you do anything talk it over with your parents. They may be able to help you in some way or another.Maybe they know somebody or they know somebody who knows somebody.Another way is to let your friends know what your seeking and they maybe able to help.Worth a try.Never leave a stone over turned.Good luck.

Hey there. Basically you have to be certified by an organisation that does that sort of thing. I am in the process of getting my certification now, and I can tell you it was quite confusing trying to figure out where to go.

The problem with personal trainer certifications is that there are no overall standards. That means that different organisations give different level tests (different in terms of difficulty and in terms of cost). Some are total rubbish and are not really respected.

After some guidance by another personal trainer from this site I chose to go with ISSA:

The reason for that was that they were internationally recognised, and it was co-founded by one of the most respected people in the industry. However there were a few other reputable organisations that I was told would also be good. To quote the answer I got:
"AFPA, NFPT, ACE are also good choices"

I can tell you that to actually become a personal trainer (at least from ISSA) goes something like this:

You get a large book and some study material. You can study the stuff at your leisure and take the test when you are ready. You get CPR certified (its a must). You send the test in to them (which contains multiple choice and essay questions), as well as your CPR certification. If you pass they certify you. Then you need to re-certify every two years so as to keep your degree current. It costs about 5-600 dollars to order the course depending on whether they are running a promotional offer or not.

Hope that helps. Good luck.
