Q: 15/f
Ok... this really is for guys only but if girls want to give an opinion. I just have a question... why do guys not like me. I mean... every girl in my class that is so annoying and so holding a leash on their boyfriends has a boyfriend but not me. And you're probably thinking that i just want to go out because everyone else is. Um... no. I just want that special relationship with the right guy is that too much to ask? Guys just don't like me for some reason, though. I'm not that bad looking.. im not that skinny but not that huge. I have an awesome let loose personality. I'm into stuff like action, comedy, a few chick flick but it's limited... and I love going to games and stuff... idk.. why am i still single?

Before being a girlfriend, you'll have to someway or another be a friend to the guy. Try not to look so much for a relationship first, isntead try to find and build on friendships. Through those friendships, you will probably better see who is better for you and who you are better for. Trust me on this one - if you are patient and do wait, it will be worth it. Just because you don't have a boyfriend at the moment, does that make you a bad person, or mean that you are not as good as the other girls? Of course not! The way I see it, at the moment you are not in the position where you could get hurt in a relationship if something happens. So instead of seeing it as missing out on good things, you could also see it as avoiding bad possibilities. Your looks don't matter at all - why be liked for what you look like? If you have a killer personality, then stick to it; if a guy can't even see that in you and like you as a friend for it, then is he really worth it? Just be patient, good things come to those who wait. Hope that helped and good luck.

Q: why does everyone look at a teen having a baby like the end of the world for them. i mean i know its hard but I've seen tons of people work through it,and live successful lives. so its a challenge. but worse can happen. i mean if the person can be a good monther and somehow support herself and her child isnt that enough?

Hmm. Not everyone looks at a teen having a baby like the end of the world...because if they all did, then it wouldn't be happening as often as it is, whether it is intentional or not. For the sake of arguement, lets leave the age range to girls 13-17. To most, it doesn't seem like anyone that age would have experienced enough to raise a child of their own, when they are still in the middle of being raised...or maybe should be. Some may be capable to raise their own child and themselves at that age, as well as support themselves. Probably one of the problems that personally I do not like about that whole situation is the option of getting an abortion. To me thats wrong on too many levels, even though I am a guy and some girls think that guys have no say in it...but I won't get too into that.
Unfortunately, I can't answer for you if that is enough or not. Instead ask yourself, what would lets say...a 16 year old girl not have that say... a 26 year old girl would. For one, it would seem that for the most part, thats 10 more years of experience, but not necessarily good either. I would see it as too much for a teenage parent mentally and emotionally to handle that. Not just keeping up with their own life, but also that pressure of knowing that theres someone out there who is dependant on you. Then theres family...just them alone finding out and giving feedback on it might not always be too comfortable, whether its positive or not. People at school probably would put in their thoughts on the situation as well, which might end up being really rough. It could be...well actually definately will be stressful, at any age really. Besides, how do you know if you or anyone else will be a good mother or not? I guess you really won't until you are put through the test...and not just the first few years either, try maybe the first 21.
Sorry about going off topic...but as to why everyone sees things that way? Well I guess some is because of the media: the popular TV shows, magazine articles, talk shows, etc. Not all people who are older see us [teenagers] the way we see ourselves. For example a 21 yr old might see a 16 year old smoking the same way we would see an 11 year old smoking...sorry if that doesn't make sence. I guess most people just see it as something wrong, others see it as not right but not wrong either...and then other people just don't care. Hope that helped.

Nothing wrong with that? Would it make a difference to you what color you or anyone else was if you were to go blind? I'm gonna guess the answer is no. If you really like him, then disreguard what others say - because friendship or relationship, its between the two of you, and not everyone else. I say go for it and don't let what other people say bring you down or let you think otherwise. Tolerance if the highest form of education. Hope that helped and good luck.

Q: Do teen guys (around 14/15 years old) care a lot about a girl's weight? I get a dress down day tommorrow for school (my school wears uniforms) and i want to look nice but im really insecure about my thighs and i dont know if all the guys will be like OMG shes sooo fat and not like me. I know it shouldnt matter but i want to know if its a big issue with guys in general. (directed towards teenage guys reading this: ) when you look at a girl a you think shes pretty would she be unattractive to you if her legs are kinda big? do a girls looks really matter if you like her?

Hmm...I can help you here - I go to an all guys school. How does that help? Well I hear about...300 different opinions when it comes to girls and their looks. A majority say that looks really don't matter, just a plus if you got them. But all of them say that they don't like girls, reguardless of size or shape, that worries and slaves over their weight and " doesn't want to eat that because its fattening " (not saying you do). So personally, no I don't mind that whatsoever or anything. I'm guessing a majority of the guys won't either - if they do, because there might just be - who cares about them? Really, chances are they are the jerks and just not even worth a thought. Besides - would you want to be liked as a friend because of who you are, or for what you look like? Hope that helped.

Have you tried writing your thoughts on paper? If you write it all down first, you won't forget to say something, and the person reading it won't stop to argue back. If you do that, you will get your point across because more than likely the person will finish reading the whole entire thing before stopping to say something about it.
If you don't like that idea you don't have to. Is it that you don't like it when they don't take you seriously? I don't see why they wouldn't unless you are the type that always jokes around and doesn't always take things seriously - not saying you are. You could also try to let whoever it is you are going to talk to that what you want to let them know is serious. Try not to let it get to you. Nobody says that you have to argue, or that if you do you have to get your point across - because you don't have to argue, and even if you don't get your point across, that doesn't mean you are wrong. Hope that helped...

Q: hey i'm a guy. this girl i know is starting to scare me. we used to talk about everything and always have a blast, but a few months ago we started to talk less. i noticed she wasn't as active as she was before, and asked her about it. just as it seemed to be, she told me she was depressed and didn't like the kind of life she was living. she went on about all the bad things in her life with family, school, friends, herself, etc. i tried to point out good things to her, but she always came back at me with something to disprove it. after not talking for a week or so, she said she just wanted to end her life and to get away from everything. i didn't take this too serious at first, but lately she hasn't been eating, barely talks, and hasn't been looking too healthy. if she is thinking about suicide, what should i do? i asked her about it and she didn't want to talk. should i tell her parents? please help

Don't wait - tell someone. Talk to her parents about it and let them know everything you just wrote, and I mean everything. Do what you can to stay close to her and keep her active and interested in things; help her to see the brighter side of things. Let her know that you do care about her as a friend, because chances are she probably thinks that nobody cares about her. Do what you can to reach out to her and let her know that no matter how bad things are, even though things could be worse, you have to stay strong. Listen to what she has to say, and let her vent out on what her problems are and what she wants and needs - that will probably be your clue as to what you should do next. Definately tell someone as soon as you can. Hope that helped.

Hmm. Try webmd.com. Ask your parents of course, they might probably know something about that. You could also ask your doctor. I heard that it might be stress related, so just try to relax and get some sleep - if you have a bf [best or boy friend] then just tell them how you feel about everything...do what you can to take stress off your self. If you play sports you should try to take things down a notch: don't want to make things worse... Hope that helped - feel better =)

Excellent music service. Create your own personal radio station - simply type in songs and artists you like, and based on the music that it is, it will play for you similar music, usually some that you have never heard of but is really good to your liking. Give it a shot - you can always try iTunes too, under the section where it says 'Listeners also bought' at the bottom of an artists page. Hope that helped and good luck.

I would suggest Limewire. I have been using it for a long time, and run a daily virus check and it doesn't find anything. I only download music though. If a file is corrupted, Limewire usually lets you know right away, and instead of finishing the download, it asks if you want to continue - so you say no. Hope that helped.

Q: hey. i really want to start doing crew. i hav friends that do it and they say its a lot of fun and it sounds like super awsome. but i do ballet on mondays and wednesday's for two hours!! does anyone hav any ideas how i could get into it and maintain ballet at the same time

Hey I do crew! As you have pointed out, it is very time consuming - but in the end worth it. Hmm talk to your ballet instructor and the crew coach to see if you can work something out. I don't know how the practice schedule for crew is - mine is 6 days a week, with races. Since all of the races are on the weekends, there are some that are on Sunday. See if you can work something out so that if you do go to practice 6 days a week, to let you go to at least 1 ballet practice.
Depending on when the spring season starts for you, I'm pretty sure that the first 3 or 4 weeks is easy light, in terms of practices and races and time. You should use that time to experiment and see what works best for you, if doing ballet twice a week, on Monday or Wednesday, or any other combination you can think of. You have time to plan things out. There is a way to go to your ballet and still get a work out for crew. If you havn't heard of them already, there are indoor rowing machines, called ergometers. You can see what they are like: www.concept2.com It's the machine that is used by just about everyone to get virtually the same workout as you would on the water. Look around to see if your school or a gym near by or anywhere else has them. If they do, try to use them after your ballet practice - but make sure you learn the right technique of course. But yeah talk to your coaches and tell them your situation and ask if you could try that - erging on Mondays and/or Wednesdays. Hope that helped and good luck! I think that is a bit weird. Try not to do anything like that: to avoid legal issues and everything. If its for fun and other people are around, sure...but if its just you two and things don't look too safe, then definately don't do it. Yes. Open the picture on your computer so that you see it in full size, bit still fit on the monitor. Then what? Look for on your keyboard a button that says Print Screen, which should be next to Scroll Lock. After you press Print Screen, open up paint. Click on the dotted line box on the top tab. Once that is selected, right click on the drawing part of paint, press paste picture, and your entire screen should show up.
Next, click on any other tab, paintbursh or bucket, then click back onto the dotted line box. Center paint so that your picture fits so that you can draw a box around it with the dotted line box option. Once its set, cut out the picture - click and drag from one corner to the opposite corner. Right click inside that box cut. Then press Ctrl + A, then the Delete button, not backspace button. Then paste your picture again on paint. Now...scroll all the way to the bottom right corner, where you should see a gray outline around the white paper. Select the paintbrush or any other drawing utencil, and a small little blue box should appear at the very corner. Click and drag that inward, oppositely towards your picture until you have resized everything to fit your picture entirely with no white spaces left...just the gray backround. Save that image, upload it onto myspace, and you are done. Hope that helped and good luck - let me know if you are confused or anything, drop one in my inbox.

Check that website out. It has a section for each console, including a top 10 chart. You can look at the rating of the games and look for ones with a high rating [9.0+]. It has the rating of each game too (Teen, Mature, etc.) Hope that helped. By the way, I played GTA: San Andreas...great game, came out last year but still good.

Yeah. Find the folder in your computer where all your downloaded music goes to. It should be listed somewhere around there, your shared folder. Once you find the songs in the folder, highlight the ones you want on your iTunes, then click and drag them and drop it in the Library icon. After that the songs will open in iTunes and stay there. Then you plug in your iPod and depending on your settings, either it will automatically put the songs on or you will have to select which ones go on. Hope that helped.

Yes. Plug in your iPod. When it asks if you want to reconnect it like to iTunes, say no. Enable the option that allows you to see hidden folders. To do this - if you have Windows XP, go to Control Panel > Appearence and Themese > Folder Options > View Tab > under Hidden files or folders, press Show hidden files and folers, then press ok. Now go to My Computer, open your iPod drive, click on the folder that says music [one that is almost transparent]. You will probably see a bunch of folders that are also transparent. What you want to do is copy all those folders (Ctrl+A), then paste it somewhere else on your computer, like your My Documents folder or wherever else you'd like. Once you paste it [it will take awhile if you have a lot of music], take that same group that you pasted and drag it to the Library icon in iTunes. It should upload [again, takes awhile]. Final result will be songs from your iPod now are on your computer. Hope that helped, if you are unclear about anything or have further questions drop one in my inbox, and good luck.

Q: I'm pretty sure i'm a christian. But i sometimes doubt God and if he's there or not. Does this mean that, if i like... died tomorrow, i would go to hell. Am i not allowed to doubt God? It seems like the only people who are considered religious are the ones like "i'm sure he's real b/c i've read his word and i believed it" but... i'm a very doubtfull person and i can't just believe things like that. Does this mean i'm not going to Heaven?
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|

No of course not - it's natural to doubt God and parts of your religion. You are expected to. Remember the story of the shepherd and the 100 sheep? One went astray while the other 99 would stay, and he went to go look for that 1 missing sheep. When he found it he carried it on his back to his place and rejoiced - God will do the same: rejoice over 1 repented person than 99 ones where already righteous. No you will not go to hell for having doubts, everyone does - it's what makes us human. Don't force yourself to believe, but rather find it in yourself to convince yourself on your own [sorry if that doesn't make sence]. In other words - don't feel that you have to believe no matter, but rather believe because you truly do believe. It takes time to believe, and you have plenty of that. We were given free will for a reason - to believe or deny as we please. Maybe you might find it easier to believe and have faith if you keep your eyes open and see how it is that God works in your life. Hope that helped and feel better.

Q: I am not a materialistic person,
but...
my family(extended) is doing a kk thing for christmas this year.

Hmm...tough one. First off thanks for dropping it in my inbox, feel free to do so again anytime. Well, you don't want a material object...does that include clothes? Clothes are a necessity for everyone. I don't think in any way you would be seeming materialistic if you asked for a sweater or t-shirt [nothing expensive]. People give and get clothes for Christmas all the time, and its not looked upon as materialistic as asking for like an iPod for example. Also a photo album would be something to ask for thats inexpensive and easy to find - you can also hold onto it for the rest of your life. So anyways I hope thats what you were looking for. If by chance you wanted to ask for something that was not an object, try maybe something like...buidling a cake with help from your parents or other relatives. Like for example say: oh yeah for Christmas what I want to do is make my own cake. I'm sure that doesn't cost too much to do, and could actually be a lot of fun. Look for something along those lines, like maybe going somewhere or doing something as a present instead of an actual object present if thats what you were trying to avoid. Hope that helped and good luck - Merry Christmas =)

Hmm...not giving too many compliments doesn't necessarily make you a bad girl friend. One thing you should really try to do is that whenever you are complimented, try to give one back right away. Its up to you whether you want to give the same compliment back or not.
Something else you can try is to try to say one first at least once every other day or however often you like. Notice something about him physically or something you liked that he said? Let him know! Most guys feel 100x better about themselves when they try to impress someone and then they are actually noticed...in a good way of course. Also, don't forget that they don't cost a thing, so it could sometimes be just the gift you need to cheer him up. Again, if you forget to thats fine. I think that if you try to give one back whenever you get one, or at least make an effort to compliment first every day or something, then things should go well. Hope that helped and good luck.

I really like giving advice, so thats why I have a column here. I've been inactive for a long time, but I'm back and will do my best to catch up. Advicenators is a great site and it is what we make it. Having my own advice column helped me learn a lot of new things, even about myself, while giving me the chance to help others along the way. Thanks.
