Hello! I am studying esthetics at an Aveda Institute after spending years in retail. I am proof that nothing turns out how you think it will, and that's a good thing. When you think you've got it figured out, you don't. Life would be boring otherwise, right?
Makeup, skincare, and psychology are my passions and I'm also happy to give advice on relationships, particularly for teenagers (so many things I wish I could have told myself a decade ago!) I'm happy to help fellow abuse survivors as well.

this isn't really and advice question. well it kind of is...
basically if you've ever been in love, id like to hear about how you met the right person, y you fell in love, and basically a quick summary of what happened and how/if it ended...i need a few stories, and please they have to be true! if you leave your story it'll be worth your time =) thank you!!!!!!!!!!!

Mine is kind of weird...I was at an alternative/continuation school for the last semester of my senior year. The last thing I wanted was a boyfriend, I didn't even bother trying to make friends. But this guy in my social justice class started talking to me, added me on myspace, we messaged a little bit. I thought he was cute but didn't like him like him, cuz like I said, I didn't want a boyfriend. Texted him pretty much 24/7 and people started saying he liked me but for whatever reason (shyness?) he wouldn't ask me out. We were still kinda together, though. Like two months later he finally did but we still weren't official since neither of us wanted to talk about things. I thought it was gonna be a two or three month relationship, we had a lot of problems (mainly my drinking and doing stupid shit). Summer came, I left for a four week trip, planning on dumping him during or after. That was when I realized how much I missed him and really liked him. When I came back, I had mono, so I didn't get to see him for even longer. When I finally did, was sooo happy. Things just kept getting better and now we've been normal bf/gf for a few months...been going out for about six. Totally in love, he makes me so happy and I don't know what I would do without him :)

Most guys like long hair. I wouldn't do bangs because they have a tendency to make your face look rounder and make you look younger. Side bangs are alright though.

On Thanksgiving my aunt brought over mashed potatoes for dinner with my family. I made a wonderful, moist turkey to go with it and my family loved it all. The mashed potatoes were talked about a lot though so it's been making me want to create fluffy mashed potatoes like my aunt did. Well, since she left I've tried to make the mashed potatoes all light and fluffy like she did but it always turns out thick and bland.

How do you make fluffy mashed potatoes?

I don't want to use instant mashed potatoes or anything weird like that. I want to mash my own potatoes but I don't want them to be thick like they are when I do them. My best friend said she saw her mom put some whipping cream into the mashed potatoes at her house and that they are fluffy--is that what I'm suppose to do? If so, how much would I use?

Please, I want to make some really great, fluffy mashed potatoes for Christmas dinner. Can someone please help me by giving me a good recipe for delicious fluffy mashed potatoes? Best mashed potato recipe, anyone?

My mom makes the most amazing mashed potatoes ever. It sounds totally weird but sooo good. She puts butter, whipping cream, the powdered ranch dressing mix, and a tiny bit of mayonnaise. I know, sounds gross, but they're so good, light, fluffy, amazing. Also, make sure you use an electric mixer.

I'll see if I can get the exact recipe from her.

i have dark green eyes.. sometimes they turn brown.
what color of eyeshadow should i use? and i have small eyes how would i make them look bigger? i want them to look bigger because i have a big nose. haha

The person below me was right, use a light champagne or white shade in the inner corners of your eyes and below your brows. (less is more!)

When you line your eyes, line only the outer halves. To really open your eyes up use a shade like sparkly lavender (jane makes a good one) and line your top lid, around the inner corners of your eyes, and your bottom inner rims. Sounds weird but it looks really pretty.

Purple eyeshadow is pretty on both green and brown eyes.

When me and my boyfriend are sitting down, we hold hands. Well i love holding hands with him, its just something he does that weirds me out! he like holds my hand and he puts our hands on his knee and slowly moves our hands towards his crotch! i dont know if he is purposley doing it or not! does anyone know what i am talking about??? or what his intentions are?? oh gosh.

Honestly, he's a teenage guy, he's probably trying to not-so-subtly hint he wants a handjob. If you don't want to, just move your hand down (towards knees) or towards you a little more or even let go entirely. He'll figure it out.

No, that's not a big deal, girls know it happens. And some girls take it as a compliment anyway haha. The only time it's weird or awkward is if it's someone you don't like or if you're not doing something like kissing- just like talking or whatever. That's kinda weird.

my ipod video recently broke and i'm looking to get a new ipod. i can't decide between the new nano or an itouch. i'm not really attracted to either, but those are basically my only options. what i don't like about the touch is that there arent any buttons that you can easily access..

so what's your opinion..? are there any flaws of the itouch or new nano that i should be aware of..? what do you recommend?

I've spent a lot of time in the apple store and played with both. I just got the new nano and I looooove it. I don't like the touch because unless you have tiny fingers it's impossible to type and really easy to break.

It seems like noone is good anymore!!! I need good music! I dont like country, rap, and most pop. I like rock and a tiny bit of pop. Oh yeah and I like artists like rihanna and beyonce, I dont know what thats called. So does anyone have any good bands or songs I could listen to????

The key to making your eyes pop is to use colors that contrast your eyecolor. A copper or brown eyeliner, drawn thinly along your upper lashline, will really make your eyes stand out.

Lavender eyeshadow would also look really pretty. Bronze liquid liner for a night out.

It intensifies the color for eyeshadows. For mineral eyeshadows it creates a really pretty sheen.

For foundation it makes it more sheer and natural looking.

Okay. so i just got two bottles of Zantrex-3. I heard its suppose to be a really good weight loss pill. Im 5'5" and about 165lbs so i really need to lose the weight. Has anyone used it before? I use to take Trimspa and i liked it, but I just wanted to try something new. I took the zantrex yesterday for the first time and it made me feel kinda sick and shaky =/

I've had a couple of really bad experiences with diet pills, included passing out at work and being sick for days, I really don't recommend them.

The reason you're feeling that way is because it has caffeine or some kind of stimulant in it. No way to stop that reaction. Eating healthy, drinking lots of water, and working out will give you more energy, help you lose weight, and give you a natural glow.

1. L'oreal's the best out of those three. They make a line called HIP that's really pigmented. Maybelline is awful and covergirl isn't much better.

Lime Crime is an amazing line of makeup sold online. It's made by a makeup artist, is amazing quality (especially for the price) and lasts a long time.

The colors look super dark/bright/bold in the pictures, that's when applied thickly and with a wet makeup brush. You can use a little bit dry for a sheer wash of color.

im 16 and i still wear a 32A. im not gonna lie, i have a good body, im thin and fit, have a good sized butt haha but the only thing that sucks is.. my boobs! im almost 17 and i still wear a 32a. i dont want BIG boobs, but i would be content if i was at least a B, had something to look good in my shirts. is there anything i can do to make them bigger besides obviously breast implants!? and not anything unhealthy or bad for my body.

Victoria's Secret makes amazing padded/pushup bras, they have ones that can make you up to 2 sizes bigger. Just go in and ask for help, the people working there have heard it all and are super helpful.

which smell do guys prefer on girls?

Avoid anything too strong or fruity/flowery. And stay far far away from Love Spell. It's the girl equivalent of Axe.

Something else clean and fresh smelling (that clean laundry smell), like Victoria's Secret Pink Fresh and Clean.

Or vanilla, which has been scientifically proven to turn guys on. Victoria's Secret Vanilla Lace smells amazing.

Subtle is key. Use a scented lotion, then spray a TINY bit- in your hair, on your shoulders (so he smells it when he hugs you) and on the back of your knees (pulse points, will make it last longer). Spray half an hour before you go out so it's not too strong.


One thing most girls don't realize is that good smelling hair makes a huge difference. Try Garnier Fructis or John Frieda (the color line).

okay so im in ninth grade and i absolutly HATE my high school. it is giant, my class has about 1000 people in it right now, so that means my whole school has about 4000.
i hate being around alot of people, and i hate large crouds, so abviously this is not a good environment.
i really really dont want to stay at it, but i dont know how or where or if i can transfer.
and the fact that i have like two friends, one of which is transferring to a private school next week, and my ex best friend is in one of my classes and 'picks on me' the whole time and the councelor cant change my schedule, does not help the situation!!!
ive looked up schools, i really want to go to a private school, but my parents are divorced and we dont have like any money right now, so that dream is basically crushed.
i dont know what school would be good for me. i know i want a small learning evironment, and i have alot of learning disabilities, some of which include severe adhd and dyslexia, so i dONT know what school would take me.
i live in austin texas, so i need a school there. i was looking at round rock christian academy, but the site is skrewed up so i dont know...
so, i need suggestions for schools in austin. and most importantly, i dont know how to tell my mom that i want to switch schools! im really bad talking to people and i dont know how to bring it up or tell her, cause she already thinks im messed up (she thinks if your emo that your messed up).

The first thing is you need to make sure you're absolutely sure about this. Freshman year is always hard. I went from a big school like that to a small school with only 30 seniors, and there were a lot of things about the old school I missed. School activities, having more opportunities to make friends...small schools can feel really claustrophobic- every teacher and student knew my business.

Having said that, I had a really great experience at the smaller school (it was a continuation school). The first thing you need to do is talk to your parents, because there's no way this is gonna happen without them. Explain to them your reasons (not just "i hate my school" but valid reasons why). Make a list beforehand of your reasons so you don't forget. With your parents, go to see your school counselor.

Ask about an alternative/continuation school, I think that will really help you. Your counselor will have a lot of information on other schools, more than you can get by googling it. Be aware that if they let you transfer, it probably will not be until the end of this semester or school year.
