I was just curious to know, who you want to win the election '08?
My mom and i want obama, but literally the rest of my family wants mccain. I just would like to see how many people want obama, and how many want mccain.
People are so blinded by the word "Change". What a great campaign slogan; when things aren't looking well- change is seemingly the answer.
But change to what? Obama never really answers that question. I honestly don't feel he gives a crap about anyone but himself.
The real politician would spend their campaign talking about the issues and what they are going to do about them- not bashing McCain when obviously he's more qualified.
Plus, not to be racist, but it is not the time for a black president. There are still MANY racist people in this country- and there's no telling what will happen if he's elected and it upsets people.
I'm sure assassination attempts are always a problem in a presidency, but I honestly don't see Obama lasting very long in office. I don't mean that as disrespectful in any way. I'm just saying that perhaps there are people in this country who are not ready for that progression yet.
There's always my irksomeness toward his ability to actually run the country. He may have all of these phenomenal ideas, but he doesn't seem like he will actually be able to implement any of them. They are perhaps a bit too... ambitious. Obama has made far too many promises I do not believe he can keep.
I just hope that if he wins, he is only president for one term, not two. I don't know if I could handle 8 years with a man who doesn't support the right to life, which is the most important issue in my mind.
MikeCFT answered Friday October 24 2008, 5:27 pm: All these dumbass young people in my own generation feed into Obama's "Time for Change" bullshit because they're naive and quixotic.
Pinko commie bastard. Talks a great game, but thats the extent of it, just talk.
Doesn't he have an anti-war rally to go to where he has to go burn some American flags with his hippie buddies?
GIVE TERRORISTS A CHANCE!! VOTE OBAMA!!!
McCain gets my vote, but I am from NY so it doesnt matter anyway because "NO-Bama" is gonna get this state anyway.
S_C answered Wednesday October 22 2008, 11:43 am: If I could vote (I turn 18 only 3 sad days after the election!), I don't know who to choose.
Either way, I think we're kind of screwed. While I support a lot of what Obama says (we do need change), I'm not always so sure on his policies. He's a smooth speaker and knows how to avoid questions, and that frightens me a little.
I'm also moderate in my believes. For example, if it makes any sense, I'm pro-choice but anti abortion. That means I would never have an abortion because I do consider a "fetus" to be a living baby, but I wouldn't strip a woman of her rights. I don't agree with abortion being a form of birth control by any means, but it would be too long and to sad/difficult of a process to determine rape or incest & be allowed the abortion under McCain & Palin's ideals, so I'd rather women have the option.
That's just one of my more moderate beliefs.
While I do agree that McCain is not a very conservative republican, he chose Palin and that irks me. While I would love to see a woman VP or president (just not Hilary - ICK!), Palin is far too conservative for my tastes. She wants abstinence-only education in schools and I believe we should teach abstinence-plus (teach abstinence and sex-education, birth control, etc). How are kids going to protect themselves if they don't know anything but abstinence (being a member of this site for over 4 years, I know darn well that kids are going to have sex no matter what they've been taught, and that a lot of people don't know as much about sex ed. as I would have thought).
That would be another one of my more moderate to liberal beliefs.
The thought of Obama scares me. Not because of his race or religion (I'm not religious, and this anti-christ stuff just irritates me to no end), not even because of his "inexperience". I like Obama's charisma and I love hearing him speak. I just feel that he could be very convincing to a lot of people & that the power could possibly go to his head and be very negative. Biden also angers me. I saw a VP debate where Biden, rather than saying what he and Obama would do, kept "pointing fingers" as Palin says (she does crack me up - not in a bad way), and just badmouthing McCain. He was acting like a 4 year old playing the blame game or something.
kristen22 answered Wednesday October 22 2008, 4:54 am: Me & and my husband both voted for McCain. I just went night before last to see Sarah Palin give her speech in Colorado. I do not believe Obama is right to be president. But that's just my personal opinion. I believe in voting, you have to choose the lesser of two evils, and for me, McCain is the lesser. Also, I think Sarah Palin rocks. Her views on alot of things inlcuding our 2nd amendment rights (The right to bear arms) and she is pro-life and these are the views I share also. Obama wants to take away our right to be able to protect our family. (He ok'd it for the government to impose restrictions on gun ownership if he became president.) Regardless of what law will ever get passed, there will always be a 9mm safely tucked under my bed ready to protect myself & my family at any given notice.
Matt answered Tuesday October 21 2008, 11:33 pm: I wouldn't vote for either of them.
And the reasons I've heard from people on why they're voting for Obama are nothing short of idiotic, for the most part. "It's time for a black man to be president". "I don't want another old white guy." "He's young!". "McCain is old!"
Obama is the sexy pick, which is why he's ahead in the polls. However, I do not believe it will be a substantial victory if either candidate wins. [ Matt's advice column | Ask Matt A Question ]

xObEaChbAbEoX answered Tuesday October 21 2008, 10:15 pm: For me, I did like McCain in the beginning of the Presidency, but once he chose Palin as his companion for vice-president, it turned me off. During one of the debates, he criticized Obama for not having enough expeience when he chose Palin who thinks that the war is "God's will". He also found most information on Palin off of google and had an interview with her for thirty minutes. Although I do like Obama's plans for tax policy for example, alternative fuels, abortion, gay-marriage, etc, I feel that McCain would execute his ideas better because he has a much better background in politics. I do feel uncomfortable voting for McCain because it is reported that he has had 80 emergency doctorate papers stating that he is not healthy (something to that extent) and it is scary to think that if he were President and he died that Palin would take over. She does not have a clear stance on immigration or the war and is probably as conservative as one can get. For me as a liberal, I do not like her stances on abortion, gay-marriage, etc. Although I am one year off from voting, if I could vote I think I would vote for the green and peace party because of Obama's lack of experience and for McCain's random choice of Vice-President candidate. theymos answered Tuesday October 21 2008, 9:27 pm: I don't like either of them, but I think Obama is the lesser evil.
McCain has absolutely no chance of winning at this point. Obama is guaranteed the presidency, and he will win by a significant margin. [ theymos's advice column | Ask theymos A Question ]

Why?
I like what he's campaigning for.
Personally, McCain doesn't appeal to what I like AT ALL.
You can find out what they're campaigning for (economy, war in Iraq, illegal immigration, etc.) on this website:
Melody answered Tuesday October 21 2008, 7:56 pm: I don't really believe what Mccain did in bed is any of the voter's business. Same goes for Clinton. Great president, not so great husband. The two don't really go hand in hand.
Actually though, I'm really undecided. I've watched most of the debates, and I am still unsure. If I was eligible to vote, I would probably vote for Obama though. Like me, the rest of my family is still unsure of who they want to vote for. However, the majority say they will probably vote for Obama.
The reason I say I would vote for Obama is partially due to the vice presidents. If something happened to Mccain while he was in office, Sara Palin would be the president. Now, the lady is sweet and funny as can be, but she's definitely not the sharpest tool in the box. If she happened to become president, I would be worried for the U.S. because I'm not so sure she could handle it. As for Obama, if something happened to him, I am confident that Biden would be a good president, regardless of his sometimes condescending behavior.
I am fully aware that basing my would-be vote on the unfortunate event of something happening to the candidtates is weird and morbid, but unfortunately that's all I really have to go on.
I fully support [most] of Obama's ideas, however I sometimes think he talks a little to smooth to be the "real thing". So that worries me a little.
loveanddrama20 answered Tuesday October 21 2008, 7:03 pm: I'm personally for Obama. I did a research paper/slide show on McCain and I found out he's not really a great guy. There are accounts he cheated on his first wife which is a major turn off to me. If he cheated on his first wife what is to say he isn't going to cheat on the wife he has now, start a big scandal, and give America a bad name?
