Ive recently gotten mononucleosis and Its terrible. It's put a huge restraint on my social life and I'm just wondering.. once ive had it once is it possible i could get it again?
I've had it and it's definitely extremely painful so I know what you're talking about. I got mine at the beginning of summer. I was on the couch resting for about a week. If you don't rest properly and go out with your friends, you can get them sick and you can possibly relapse. It's rare for you to get it fully again though. It kind of follows the same rules as chicken pox, however, it is not impossible. Usually what happens is if you don't rest, you'll have it longer and won't recover fully for a longer period of time. I still have symptoms and mine started in June. My advice would be to keep seeing your family doctor and rest as much as you can. It's better to just wait it out, rest and sleep as much as possible, and then recover quicker. You shouldn't be focusing on your social life when health comes first. If you have any more questions, google has a lot of sites about Mono.

alright. so my aunt's wedding is in 17 weeks & i wanted to start losing weight now. [because i can never stick w. anything! haha]
its a strapless dress - if that helps.
does anyone have a workout plan that i could do to help me lose weight - maybe 30 pounds? i dont think thats practical to lose it healthily so 20?
thank you :]
oh yeah - i have a treadmill and workout videos [tae bo, yoga, pilates, you name it! haha]
I lost 45 lbs in about a year and I'm a bit underweight now, so I actually went a bit too far. My advice is to just stay in your BMI range. You can figure this out by using a basic BMI calculator.
Pick any of those and type in your information. It should give you a number and a range of what you should be in. 18.5 or less is underweight, 18.5 to about 22 is average weight and anything above 25 is overweight and anything above 30 is obese. You always want to stay in that 18.5-25 range. Anything more or less could be considered unhealthy. Just a reminder though, you have to take into consideration that muscle weighs more than fat. Losing 20-30 lbs in 17 weeks is not very healthy. You should be losing it gradually. Anyways, here are a few ideas and tips.
-diet and exercise go hand in hand. don't ignore one. do both. exercise for at least an hour a day.
-drink plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated.
-give yourself a calorie limit. you can google this for more information. anywhere between anything around 2000 calories a day is good for a teenager who is active. you should probably add more or less depending on your body type. don't hesitate to ask your doctor how many calories you should have.
-on food labels, watch your calories, grams of fat, grams of saturated fat, grams of sugar, and your sodium intake. too much of any of those won't help you lose weight.
-basically eat when you're hungry and stop when you're full.
-to keep a fast metabolism, eat every few hours. eat 6 small meals during the day instead of 3 large meals.
-make sure to incorporate lots of fruits & veggies in your diet.
-keep yourself focused and motivated and you should see the results you want.
I would definitely suggest talking to your family doctor about a weight loss program that fits you. Everyone is different so everyone will see a variety of weight loss results.

I need some excersize scudules that you guys have i really need to get in shape.
Everyone is different, so there are so many different exercise schedules you can try. I would suggest running. It can get intense, but it is the best exercise you can do to keep you in shape and promotes weight loss. I would suggest running 5 days a week. Maybe just do it monday through friday. But don't worry, it doesn't have to be tedious. Depending on your schedule with school, friends, extra activity, things you do with your family, etc., that should help you to decide when you exercise. As long as you get in at least an hour of it every day, you should see results. Try starting out with a light jog and work it up to a steady run. For the other 2 days, whichever you chose, you should take a break from running and try something else. Maybe walking fast pace or doing little exercises here and there. You can always give yourself a day off though. Also, if you want to see results that last, you have to watch what you eat. Diet and exercise should go together. You can try searching google for more tips.

alright so the collage i wanted to go to recommended what classes i should take during my jr year of high school... next year and they said anatomy or neurology.. and my school is stupid and does offer those classes.. they offer..forensic science..biology..AP biology..chemistry..geology..environmental science.. agriculture science..biotechnology..and physics.. im trying to become a massage therapist witch science course do you think i should take witch is at least a tiny bit similar to what my collage that i hope to go to recommended?
They aren't really close to what your college is asking for. I would try calling the college and asking for their opinion. Explain what classes your HS has and ask them what they think you should take. Another option is a lot of community colleges do offer those classes. Many HS's let their students take college credit courses and then transfer them into HS credits as well, so you could take those courses that your HS offers and then take the extra college courses also. You should talk to your guidance counselor and ask for their opinion also. Explain the courses your college wants you to take and see if there is anything close enough to it. You can also try looking at course descriptions of your HS classes and your college classes to see if any of them are similar and would match up. If not, don't worry about it. Those are just recommendations. If you don't take them, it's not like you won't get in. It's just a suggestion to make things easier for you to understand in the future when you do need to take those classes in college.

145-150 lbs
Can someone give me a diet that I can lose a couple of lbs. off of? Maybe to 135ish. I don't want like a you can lose 15 lbs in a week. Just something that can slowly give off lbs. I play basketball, so I have a lot of muscle, but I would like to try to get rid of that little fat I have. Mainly around my stomach and hips. Its not like "wow she need to lose weight". Its just to me, its "ugly". && Some of my weight also comes from my boobs. (their a D) Now I wear a size 6-7 in jeans, and would like to be maybe a 5.
Anything you guys can say will be tons of help =D
((&& I don't care for my BMI, that thing doesn't take in the fact that muscle weighs more then fat && you put my BMI I will rate lower))
When you're on a diet, there's a few things you need to watch for:
-calories
-grams of fat
-grams of saturated fat
-grams of sugar
You should also try to watch your sodium intake for health reasons, but it doesn't affect your weight loss too much. First of all, make sure you drink plenty of water. It helps in hydration and can actually help you to lose weight or at least maintain your weight. Avoid wasted calories such as sodas and other sugary drinks. Try not to take in too much saturated fat. There's good fats and bad fats. Saturated and Trans fats are the bad fats. Mono and Poly saturated fats are good for you. Sugar is also not good for you. It's stored as fat in your body. If you want something that has good flavor but isn't water, try 100% fruit juices with no sugar added. Give yourself a calorie limit also. It depends on your height, so you can google it.
There's also a bunch of exercises that should help.
Keep yourself motivated. You don't have to feel hungry on a diet. You just have to watch what you're eating.

I have a friend, whom i met last year. We merely say hi or anything.
Just in the hall, we randomly bump into each other and say hi and walk away. For some reason I like him, his charm and good looks.
But i barely know him.
Is this just me wanting to like someone when there noone to like?
or do i ACTUALLY liek him?
what can i do to grow closer to him?
cutesy flirty things.
but thats not too HUGE!
You'll know once you see him and talk to him more. If he's attractive to you, you'll become interested in him because he's good looking. That doesn't necessarily mean you like him. Try talking to him about small things for example, say more than just "hi". Ask him about school, sports, friends, events, etc. Maybe you guys should try going on group dates at first and then if you feel that you want more, ask him to hang out with you sometime. You know your own feelings. You should be able to tell when you actually like him and his personality. For now, you only know his looks so that's what you're probably attracted to. If you get shy around him, still try talking to him and work up the courage to start more of a conversation. It's probably easier to be friends first and then see if you both want something more than that.

Over the weekend I got a random bruise on the back of my upper leg. At first it was so painful it hurt to walk. It stopped hurting but now it looks like its getting bigger. I don't remember ever doing anything to hurt myself either. Does anyone have any idea what it could be?
If it gets any worse, or grows, then you might want to have someone look at it. I've gotten random bruises before. Sometimes, when your nerves get pinched, a bruise will form even if it didn't hurt. I wouldn't worry too much about it, unless you see them on a weekly basis. If you do, you may want to see a doctor. If not, don't worry too much about it. I know a lot of people that get random bruises.

Everybody is always telling me how I'm gorgeous, and I'm just soo prety and one of the most beautiful girls they've ever seen. And guys tell me I'm hot. The thing is, I don't feel it. Like I know I am somewhat attractive, maybe just pretty, but there are always all these girls telling me that I'm so gorgeous and they wish they could look like me. I know that I am pretty, but I don't feel like I'm as pretty as other people say. How am I supposed to know if I'm pretty or not? Like besides what other people say becuase I just don't feel as attractive as what my friends all say to me. And this isn't a self esteem issue, at least I don't think it is...
You really shouldn't care what other people think. I know it's difficult not to and everyone does at some time or another. Go by how you feel. If you think you are attractive, you're attractive. I think it depends on how a person carries themselves. If they have good hygiene habits and are confident, they'll carry themselves well and be more attractive rather than if they had low self esteem and no confidence. You should also believe your closest friends and family. They shouldn't lie to you, even if they are nice. You should go by your opinion, because that's what really matters anyway.

I got prescribed the combined pill Loestrin by my doctor when I was 14 to regulate my v.heavy and almost constant periods. I never used it for contraceptive reasons until I started having sex about three months ago (I'm 17.) Not only do I take my pill every day, I take it at exactly the same TIME every day, and have done this for about six months. I haven't missed a period on it since I started having sex.
However recently my stomach below my belly button is quite swollen. At first I just thought I was putting on weight but when I feel it it is all tight and hard! And if I look at myself profile in the mirror you can tell that there is a swelling beneath my belly button.
I also read on here recently that the periods on the pill are not "true periods", they are "withdrawal" bleeds. So is it possible you could get them and still be pregnant?
Is it worth getting a pregnancy test or am I being ridiculous? I have been called a bit of a hypochondriac (for other reasons) before and have a lot of difficulty stepping back from situations and seeing if I'm being sensible or not! I can't talk to anyone about this in the world except for possibly my boyfriend, but I wouldn't want to unnecessarily worry him, and for logistical reasons it would cost a lot of time, effort and money for me to get a pregnancy test done (although of course I would if it was necessary).
Could somebody please help? Thanks in advance.
There's always a chance of pregnancy no matter what, so even though it may be unlikely, you shouldn't rule it out completely. I would suggest seeing a doctor asap. Explain to them your situation and they can give you the help you need. They can give you a pregnancy test at the office if they feel that you should have one. They can also run other tests to see why your period may be absent.

16/f.
My periods have been somewhat irregular since they started when I was 12 years old. Sometimes they come more or less on schedule; sometimes they don't. I've had as much as two months in between periods.
My last period started on December 19 and ended on December 26. According to my normal schedule, I should have started my period on January 16. I've not started it yet, but I'm still experiencing cramps and I've got a slight cold—I've always been more prone to sickness around the start of my period.
I've never had penetrative sex. The most I've ever done is dry humping with no exchange of bodily fluids (to my knowledge), so I doubt I'm pregnant. I took a pregnancy test just to make sure—it was negative.
I'm a semi-vegetarian, so I wonder if my significantly low iron intake could have anything to do with this.
Or do you think there could be something more serious going on?
It can be a number of things. To be safe, I would suggest going to a Gyno. Since you said you didn't have sex and your pregnancy test was negative, you can probably rule that out. Diet and exercise influence your period dramatically. If you aren't getting in enough iron or even fat, you won't get your period. I didn't have my period for months, and I'm a virgin. I went to the Gyno and she explained that I did not have enough body fat and that I was underweight, so my body didn't produce a period. I'm not saying this is your case, but if you are underweight, this may be why your period is absent. Also, I have heard stories where vegetarians don't get their period, due to lacking certain nutrients commonly found in meat products. Since you're semi-vegetarian, it would depend on what foods you do eat and what foods you don't eat. Getting a blood test can show what nutrients you have enough of and what nutrients you're lacking. Try making a Gyno appt or at least an appt with your family doctor.

I'm 15 years old in 9th grade. Last semister my grades were horrible and they don't show signs of improving this semister. I'm not a dumb kid.. I just don't do the work. I want to get into school and do good but i can't. I want to do my homework every night but I always end up procrastinating (don't know how to spell it), and it never ends up getting done. Any tips? Because at this rate i'm going to drop out and I really don't want that to happen.
Thanks.
You have to take your school work seriously. Why? Because having a good education is extremely important to be successful in your career. Not only that, if you work hard you'll get more accomplished. To stop yourself from procrastinating, do your homework as soon as you get home. That way you don't keep putting it off and have the rest of the night to relax and not to think about it. You should study as soon as you get home also, but make sure you study again before you go to sleep so that you remember all of the information. The sooner you get it done, the less chance you have for procrastination.

I'll be 16 in a few weeks.(Feburary 7th)
My boy friend is 17 (a year and a half older)
First off I just want to thank all of you in advance for reading. I really appreatiate you taking the time! But please refrian from bias opinons. Please don't judge my choices or tell me I'm wrong. I'm just looking for honest advice (experiance recomended)
ok well let me start by saying my boyfriend and I have been dating for almost 6 months. I am totally in love with him and this will sound stupid, but I really feel that he will be the man I marry. He's my best friend, but also one of hte only people I trust. (Here's where you won't judge me! =0])
We're not sexually active as of right now. We do alot of foreply but no sex.
The other night, we were in my basement and we just really started going at eachother. We were both totally turned on. So after a little foreplay, I asked him if he wanted to try to have sex. He always keeps a condom on him...just in case anything ever happens. He said "Yea, but only if you're sure you're ready. I am a virgin, so is he.
One of the reasons I'm in love with him is because the way he looks out for me. He always makes sure I'm comfortable with what we're doing, and that he's careful.
I said I wanted to, so he put the condom on. I was really scared/nervous since I'm no on birth control. He said that he wouldn't cum in me, but he would still use the condom. He also wants me to be on birth control.
The second after, my mom yelled down to tell me something and I felt a little releavied. I just was so scared about getting prenant, I forgot how much I wanted to share this moment with him. I kept asking him what he was thinknig but he seemed to maintain composure. Is his age at all a difference as to why he was so calm?
This has happened a few times in the past week where we have ALMOST had sex. About 3. This was the closest.
So the mood was gone and we stoped. I felt bad because I know we're both ready and he really loves me. A few days after I told him that i felt relieved, and he told me I probably wans't ready. He doesn't mind waiting. He said he'd wait forever.
Sorry for the lenght!
but here are my main questions!
Will he change after sex...will our realationship be any different?
Are there any ways I can approach the birth control situation with my mom?
Will I get pregnant if I'm on birth control, he uses a condom, and he pulls out?
PLEASE HELP!
Sorry for the length
Please don't judge!
Thanks in advance.
I will rate you!
Since you asked this question, you obviously aren't ready for sex. You can be completely in love with someone, but not be ready to lose your virginity with them. Sex is something important. Once you lose your virginity, it's lost to that person. You don't get it back. Would marriage be the appropriate timing? Yes, but is that likely? Probably not. You need to discuss all the details with him. If you both love each other like you say, your relationship should not change after sex. Could you become closer? Yes. Could you become farther apart? Yes. Just because you have sex though, doesn't mean your relationship will automatically be better. It could get better, it could get worse, it could stay the same. It's up to both of you whether or not your relationship becomes different. You have to consider and realize all of the consequences. Pregnancy and STDS are both possible outcomes. If you have sex, you always have a chance of becoming pregnant, whether or not you use birth control or a condom. 99% effective is not 100% effective. There has been people that used a condom and birth control and still became pregnant because either they weren't used properly or didn't know what they were doing. They aren't 100% effective. The pull-out method however is not 99% effective. That's basically a myth and should not be used as a technique to avoid pregnancy or stds. Consider all the possible consequences before you make any decisions. You should be able to talk to your mom about this openly. She's a woman and was your age once so she'll understand and will be able to relate to you. If she doesn't want you going on it, respect her decision. Your her daughter, she most likely knows what's best for you. Once you are 18 though, you can pretty much decide for yourself. Talk to your boyfriend about it though.

How do you get rid of undereye circles, or at least reduct the appearance? (preferably using something natural, that I might very well have at home).
I already use concealer to hide the circles, but I would like to know what I can do to try to naturally reduce the appearance of dark circles (besides taking vitamins, getting enough sleep, etc., I know that already).
"Hydrating your body on a daily basis is so very important- and this means drinking water and plenty of it. This point cannot be emphasized enough. The suggestion of drinking “at least eight glasses of water a day” is very true. The body is composed of a lot of water (almost one half) yet we excrete a lot of water regularly and therefore need to replenish the supply constantly so drink up often!"

im 17 and hes 18. ive known him since the beginning of august. we liked each other, we knew it; i got back with my ex who i was on a break from. i broke up with him in november. best guy friend's best friend moves in, goes wayy too fast and basically tried to get some from me. luckily i fell for none of it. best guy friend hated it all along. through all that me and him have gotten very close. he admitted he still had feelings for me and wanted to be with me. i said i didnt want a relationship right now bc of everything that ive gone through w/ guys lately and he understood. i said casual dating would be ok but nothing serious. now were basically FWB i guess. we just dont have titles. im thinkin about going out with him, but i just dont know. i still dont want a boyfriend right now, but maybe down the road. the problem is, i dont want to ruin the friendship we have now. i know alot of people have gone through that, and i need some input. dont say talk to him. everyone knows that they can talk and will all say oh we'll still be friends no matter what yet it rarely happens. and honestly i doubt itd happen with us, or at least we def. wouldnt be as close, especially because were not life-long friends or anything. hes a great guy, the kind id love to give a chance and i could picture myself being with, but i dont know if its worth the risk !?
You have to go with your feelings. If you feel that you really want to date him and you know that you guys will remain friends no matter what, go for it. If you have any doubts whatsoever [which you must, or you wouldn't be asking your questions] then don't do it. Once you have zero doubts, then you'll know you're ready. What's wrong with talking to him about it though? He may be feeling the same way as you. If you have strong feelings for him, then you should take a chance. Discuss all of the possible options and see what you both are comfortable with.

i'm looking for a job to pay for senior year expenses, and i was thinking about coldstone creamery. it sounds fun, and i love people, and can sing well. i heard that to apply, you have to, in a way, "try out"? and another thing, i have basically no arm strength, and as weird as it sounds, would that impact it in any way (since i'd be scooping out ice cream)? any help is appreciated (:
Coldstone Creamery would probably be a fun job. The atmosphere is neat and you'll probably meet a lot of new and cool people. The thing is, if you're obsessed with icecream, you may want to rethink it. Usually people who get jobs around food, start to dislike it after awhile because either they're sick of looking at it or end up eating it. If you don't have a problem with either of those, then go for it. I heard that Coldstone wasn't an exactly easy job to get, but you do need to "tryout". As long as you work hard and are dedicated, you'll be successful. Don't worry about your arm strength though. They train you and after awhile you'll get used to it. If you have any more questions, try looking on their website.
You can also talk to any employees or managers at the store you want to apply to.

Either it's absolutely nothing or he has something to hide. You shouldn't go by myspace though. It's something on the internet. Ask him why he doesn't add you. If he doesn't tell you he probably has something on there he doesn't want you to see.

I'm a 15/f.
Just here recently, I've gotten to when I slobber/drool in my sleep. I've never really done that before. I use to do it everyone once in a while, but now, I'm noticing that everytime i wake up...my pillow is wet. =/
Anything I can do, that doesn't involve medication??
Unfortunately, a lot of people slobber when they're sleeping. It's just because when you're awake, you can swallow the extra saliva in your mouth. When you're sleeping, you don't realize that theres extra saliva, don't swallow, and it eventually just comes out. You can't do anything about it. Try drinking some water before you go to bed to keep your mouth from getting dry and producing more saliva.
