School help

Question Posted Tuesday January 22 2008, 8:17 am

I'm 15 years old in 9th grade. Last semister my grades were horrible and they don't show signs of improving this semister. I'm not a dumb kid.. I just don't do the work. I want to get into school and do good but i can't. I want to do my homework every night but I always end up procrastinating (don't know how to spell it), and it never ends up getting done. Any tips? Because at this rate i'm going to drop out and I really don't want that to happen.

Thanks.

I'm with you there. I hate school, it's completely pointless and stupid. I'm not doing so great either but next semester I'm planning to go all out. What I'm going to do is go to the bookstore and get books on becoming hardworking and controlling my mind so I can focus. Stuff like those are real pick me ups. Psychology books really help even though a lot of people think its for crazy people. It's not. It helps a lot in my opinion.

You have to take your school work seriously. Why? Because having a good education is extremely important to be successful in your career. Not only that, if you work hard you'll get more accomplished. To stop yourself from procrastinating, do your homework as soon as you get home. That way you don't keep putting it off and have the rest of the night to relax and not to think about it. You should study as soon as you get home also, but make sure you study again before you go to sleep so that you remember all of the information. The sooner you get it done, the less chance you have for procrastination.

-hope that helped!♥

I understand this one all to well. I was queen of "being sick" so I didn't have to go to school. Well, then when it came time to do the school work, I didn't want to because I hated school. Fast forward a decade, and I am back in school (online college courses) and still have the procrastination problem. So, for me to get over it, I have decided to throw myself 100% into my school work, and it seems to work. Here's what I suggest: when you get home for school, no matter what, make your top priority doing your homework. Do not allow yourself to do anything else at all (except potty breaks) before your work is done. You will find that for the most part, it will take you around 30 mins or less and you will have the rest of the time free to do what you want. So, instead of worrying about getting home to do your homework before bed, this way, you will have it done and the free time after, which will make you worry less. Good Luck!!
