ok i know this might sound stupid but sometimes i think im too nice, and people take advantage of me. like, if im sitting at a desk and someone says "aww i wanted to sit there", i'll get up and move, even though i really wanted to sit there. or if some girl is flirting with my boyfriend, i just sit there and dont say anything, even though i'd really like to punch her in the face. my dad and my boyfriend keep telling me i need to stand up for myself and not let people walk all over me, but i just can't do it! i dont want to be mean or look immature or rude! how can i stand up for myself without feeling like a "mean girl"?

Saying "no" or sticking up for yourself doesn't actually make you mean. There's a nice way of doing things but getting your point across all the same.


When a girl is flirting with your boyfriend -- tell her he's with you & she needs to back off. If you just stand there and let it happen, she might take off with your boyfriend or try to do more than just flirting.


Standing up for yourself doesn't make you rude or immature unless that's your intent or that's how you say it. You don't wanna be too agressive, but you wanna make sure you were stern & positive.


Don't be passive [that's what you are right now] & don't be agressive [being mean & swearing]. Be ASSERTIVE. Being assertive is getting your point across while being nice too. Practice saying NO and have your boyfriend give you situations so it can help you.

ook well I'm 13/f first off. I've just got out of a bad experience with a guy who i thought was sweet and adorable but turned out to be a total asshole. The whole school is going on a field trip to this lesiure place called Holiday Hill. I was planning on wearing my new bikini but my parents won't let me. I'm not going to be the odd-one-out wearing a 1pc or tankini. I was planning on wearing it or changing into it there but is there because of this, but how can I talk to my parents about this? What do I say?

Let's go over WHY they probably don't want you to wear this bikini:

- You're 13.
- The whole school is going.
- Guys go to your school.
- Guys will see you & stare.

I'd say your parents are correct about not letting you wear it, but if you want to be a typical teenager, pack it in your bag & don't let them know. Wear the bathing suit THEY want you to wear there & then change into your bikini once you get there. Just don't forget to change out of it when you come home [not sure how long you're going there.] But if you don't wanna do that, just follow the rules your parents have given because they give them for a reason & you're going to learn that someday & wish you should've listened. They're not talking out of their asses, trust me.

At what age do teenagers usually get past basic levels of thought and begin thinking more intellectually?What I mean is...when do they start to form their own opinions,have some idea of what they want out of life,and just generally gain a more adult outlook?

I'm 16 and I found that I started to think more maturely when life came at me fast. I learned that life wasn't going to change for you just because you wanted it to & it wasn't going to wait for you to get used to it. You have no say in what goes on & you need to live with it. It didn't take me long to learn that.


But everyone is different. It can take kids YEARS to grow up & learn what's truly right & wrong but it can take others much shorter time lengths than that. It can take many people up until adulthood to figure it out. Some people figure it out when they're young. It all depends on the person, what's been going on in their lives & what they think.

Okay, so, i think i kinda have a boyfriend, but im not so sure, because he's been in rehab for...18 months now. okay i have a few questions
first off wat is obvolation?
second ive had my period for a little over 2 years and when im on my period the first day its just normal then the next 4-5 are heavy then its just normal and slowly dies out about the 7th or 8th day but will still have a few drops on 9th so my period will last for 7 to 9 days. today had i asked a lot of girls at school and they all said there periods last 3 or 4 or 5 days and im just like holy freak mine is 7 8 or 9 days so is there like something wrong with me?

Ovulation means that the chances of you getting pregnant that month are high. There's nothing wrong with you. Some people have long periods, some people have short periods & some people have the inbetweens. My friends lasts 3 days [she's on birth control though] and mine lasts about 5-7. Just because yours is a little bit longer doesn't mean you're weird or that there's anything wrong with you. So don't worry, you're fine.

He could've just thought you were pretty & had no interest in dating you. Tons of my guy friends think I'm gorgeous & don't care to have a relationship with me. And if they do -- then they failed to mention that.


Just take the compliment & let it go. If you know for sure he does like you & you don't feel the same, tell him that. Making him think you do will only hurt him more in the end & it'll make you seem like the bad guy.

I bought the Dangerously Straight shampoo (I don't use conditioner) and I was wondering if it actually works? I have straight hair with a slight wave and I use a flat iron to get rid of the slight wave. Does this stuff REALLY work?

I have curly hair and I used it and it didn't really work for me. Then again, I didn't straighten my hair after. I'm not even sure if I was supposed to, but I know it didn't work for me.
