They give you the straight on, full-out answer.

It is what Tina_Duh described best, not what you want to hear, but what you need to hear.

It means you tell the truth & say what they NEED to hear rather than what they WANT to hear.

It mean's they're blunt, or maybe rude.
They will tell thing's how it is without any hesitation, they don't care if they hurt your feelings.

Just means they'll be very blunt/honest with you, even if it's rude/mean. They're not going to lie to you to spare your feelings basically.

LoveNJstyle answered Saturday June 2 2007, 8:19 pm:
it means they don't mess around with a bunch of stuff to "give you what you want to here" or "lie to agree with you/make you feel better"
example:
"i'm 4'11, 200 lbs and my doctor said i'll have a heart attack by 20 if i don't lose some weight. should i lose weight?"
sugarcoated answer: hmm maybe you could try to shape up a little for your health. you seem ok though, there are a lot of big-boned people out there.
not sugarcoated: yeah you should really go to a gym...you are really overweight and unhealthy. listen to your doctor and lose at least 50 pounds.
if you need anything else, let me know. <3

well whoever it is means that the truth is not necessarily told in a "diplomatic" way... i.e be warned the responses you get from that columnist may be harsh or just blunt as much as truthful....
