Hello! =)
My name is Sophie and I'm 14. I like answering questions about most things, but I'm pretty good at answering questions about teenage life.

Do u think im too young for sex? I WANT TO SOOOOOO BADDDDDDDD! uhhhh..hes 17, but he promises me i wouldnt get pregnant if we used a condom in he took it out before he cummed in me..is that true? (link)

14 is too young for sex. With school and just beginning to grow into an adult, you'd have a lot to cope with.
The method your boyfriend talks about ISN'T effective.
So, you CAN get pregnant, and imagine if you did get pregnant - you'd have to handle raising a child while battling with teenage life.
And then you could get a STD.
Not just that, but if you had sex at your age, then your boyfriend might tell a friend about it and rumours might start about you. And once you're older, you'd wish you would have done it when you were older and mature.

My best friend likes me and says he is in love with me and i dont know what to do. I like him but just as a friend even a brother. i dont know what to do and its hard because i dont want things to change between us. so can anyone help me? (link)

Hello!
Since your friend has told you that he loves you, it's almost definite that he's going to mention it again and you shouldn't avoid it.
The main errors that I think most people make when they're in this situation is lying and telling the person who fancies them that they like them back when they don't and starting a relationship with they do not like, or they tell their friend about their true feelings in a way that upsets their friendship.
You can't say for definite that your friend will take the bad news well as love is a very confusing thing, but you should speak to your friend very KINDLY and without putting him down.
Tell him that although you really like him, you only like him as a best friend. Be sure to tell him how much you value his friendship with you. I hope that this helps.
Things may just about go back to nearly-normal after you tell him this. But there may be some awkwardness for a while and this is something that you will have to get through. I can't see your friendship changing too much if you take extra care to be kind and tell him how much he means to you as a friend. =)
Good luck!

I have this talking problem
I talk way too fast and my words stumble over each other
It is just a habit
How can I stop this? (link)

Hello! =)
I have this problem as well. It's really irritating, but here's a possible reason why.
Do you have any teeth problems that need braces or could need braces? I now have braces and I've been told that some of my speaking problems are due to the fact that my teeth didn't give me much space to speak correctly.
Next time you have a dentist appointment, you should bring your speaking problem up.
Also, here are some tips:
* Try to listen to yourself when you're speaking and try to make yourself slower. This is really hard for longer sentences and admittedly not the best way to solve the problem but it does work for me sometimes. The main problem with this is if that if you have a lot to say I start rushing halfway through and it gets beyond my control. But it's good to learn and I'd advise giving it a try.
* Speech Therapy? Maybe you'd benefit from speech therapy if it's really irritating you. If your words are stumbling (like mine do) then you probably would.
Hope this helps!

Hello!
From what you've said it seems that you may have OCD, although you shouldn't take this for granted. =)
I think that you should go and see your doctor and tell him about your symptoms, then you will be given advice and help.
OCD often lessens or disappears for periods of time and then comes back harder than ever, so if it's OCD that's maybe why it disappeared. I don't think that reading has anything to do with it and is probably just a coincidence. =)
I hope you get help for this.

Here's the deal: I love singing. I've been singing since 4th grade and I've been in choirs since 5th. I haven't taken voice lessons.
Now, I want to sing a song for a talent show, but my only problem is... MY VOICE IS HORRIBLE. I have experience, but it's just the way it SOUNDS, do you know what I mean?
I recorded my voice on my cell phone, and I got so depressed at the way it sounds.
What can I do? Will singing lessons help at all? Thanks! (link)

Hello!
First thing, NEVER record your voice on an amateur tape recorder, a mobile/cell phone, or anything else which isn't professional music equipment if you're going to take it as your actual voice. They are very misleading and made me think that I had a bad voice a few years ago when I actually have a good voice. Those recorders are good for a laugh or just for fun, but shouldn't be depended on.
Maybe you should ask a close family member or friend about opinions about your voice. Ask for honest opinions and be sure to accept criticism. Everything gets better with practice. Don't get depressed with negative responses, even the best singers have bad days and maybe what they tell you will be useful for improving.
I can tell that you really love singing. =) As I haven't taken singing lessons I don't want to judge them, but I think that a lot of it is around opera. Depending on what you like singing, this might be good or bad for you.
I'm not sure if singing lessons will improve your voice because I have no experience with them, but some other Advicenators have posted about lessons. Maybe you should read their opinions about them. =)
Lastly, don't judge yourselves on other singers. Just because you don't sing like most popular singers doesn't make you bad. Maybe you're confused.
Enjoy singing!

My mom has been smoking for a long time now. She smokes a pack a day and i want her to stop so she wont get cancer or anything. She says its really hard to stop and she already tried one of those stop smoking programs. How do i make her stop? (link)
|
Hello!
First, I have been in a similar situation as yourself. My mum, my dad and my nan all smoked. I was always telling them to give up and in the end they listened to me. =)
It's a bit harder if your mum has already been in a stop-smoking program, but maybe you should try speaking to her again and telling her that you really want her to succeed.
Maybe she should try nicotine gum or patches, which worked well for my parents if she already hasn't. The thing is that my dad's now addicted to the GUM (lol!) but don't worry about the word 'nicotine', they're 100% safe. Nicotine IS addictive, but it's not dangerous, not even in cigarettes, where other ingredients are causing the problems and nicotine is the just the addictive part.
