AwesomeGal250 answered Wednesday February 1 2006, 6:18 pm: Hello! =)
I have this problem as well. It's really irritating, but here's a possible reason why.
Do you have any teeth problems that need braces or could need braces? I now have braces and I've been told that some of my speaking problems are due to the fact that my teeth didn't give me much space to speak correctly.
Next time you have a dentist appointment, you should bring your speaking problem up.
Also, here are some tips:
* Try to listen to yourself when you're speaking and try to make yourself slower. This is really hard for longer sentences and admittedly not the best way to solve the problem but it does work for me sometimes. The main problem with this is if that if you have a lot to say I start rushing halfway through and it gets beyond my control. But it's good to learn and I'd advise giving it a try.
* Speech Therapy? Maybe you'd benefit from speech therapy if it's really irritating you. If your words are stumbling (like mine do) then you probably would.

The purpose of a Toastmasters club is to help its members with their communication and leadership skills. When you join you receive a manual with 10 speech projects. As you give each speech you are assigned an evaluator that will help you work on your speed, pitch and many other aspects of good communication.
You likely are a fast thinker and have lots to say! That is wonderful as long as you can be effective in getting your thoughts across.

like allowing yourself a good 2 or 3 seconds to breathe before you begin to respond to someone if they say something or ask you something. I mean it sounds kind of useless but its really not. Something little like that can make a huge difference at times.
Also, whenever you read you can try reading out loud to yourself rather than silently... and you can try to memorize poems and recite them to yourself.
If you're uncomfortable and these things dont seem to be helping.. maybe you can take a speech class.

Omg I have the same problem! When I get mad especially I say things that sound so stupid. What I would do is read poetry, like the person said below and see if you get better!
The_MoUsY_spell_checker answered Saturday January 21 2006, 9:10 pm: I have this problem too. A good way to improve your speaking is to practise speaking at a normal pace.
Reading things out loud should help. Choose something with big words that aren't so easy to pronounce, and focus on the pronunciation.
xomegaroni answered Saturday January 21 2006, 8:28 pm: wow i do that haha =) i talk incredibly fast!! ok what i did to slow myself down was take a video of me talking & watched it & realized how stupid i sounded & then thought about it when i talked like told myself to slow down my talking speed & yeah that should do it.
