Hi I'm Dee. I'm 23 and married. I've worked in health care as well as office settings but am now a home-maker. I'm knowledgeable in a variety of subjects but don't mind doing a little research if asked about something I don't know about. Most of my friends come to me for advice. I read several advice columns and would like to help you also.

I'm not judgemental. Your life is yours to live it as you choose. I believe asking for advice is good, but ultimately the choice is yours. You WILL NOT find a hurtful or smartass answer here.

can your body treat strep throat with out antibiotics? i need this asap.it is for school

Our bodies natually try to fight infections, but in some cases (such as strep throat), it cannot do enough. Strep throat requires a trip to the doctor and a round of antibiotics.

i babysit for this family once in a while & they called me a few days ago to babysit on this coming friday, but i can't. then the lady called today and was like "I know you said you can't babysit, but I am really desprate, so I was wondering if you knew anyone who would be able to?" So I told her I'd ask a few people and let her know if someone could. So I asked a few people, but none of them can either. I feel bad for his lady (even though it's not my fault or problem) but I don't know if I should still call her back. I would feel weird being like "sorry i couldn't find anyone" and leaving her with no one at all, but I would also feel guilty if I didn't call. Should I still call even though I didn't find anyone, & if so, what should I say?

I would call and let her know that you couldn't find anyone. It shows professionalism and dedication. Also, since you said you'd try to find someone, she may be waiting on your response.

if i go to the gym will i only gain muscle or will i lose weight? how can i do both without looking TOO buff?

It depends on how you work out. If you're working out to tone your body, you'll lose some weight and look fitter. If you're working out to gain muscle, you will gain weight because muscle weighs more than fat. Ask at the gym to speak with a fitness trainer. Many gyms have them and they will be able to better determine the exercises that will give the look you want.

does it hurt to have sex the 1st time for girls?
will the guy leave you?
and im to scared to wear tampons so do you think it will hurt?

dont be a bitch.
i rate high

It varies by girl as to whether it will hurt or not. Some have pain while others do not.

As to whether the guy will leave you, there's no way of telling. If he's just after sex, chances are once he gets it, he'll be gone. If you're in a committed, long-term relationship and you're both ready for that step, chances are he'll stay.

Tampons generally shouldn't hurt. I would try a smaller tampon with a plastic applicator the first time. Many brands have teenfit or slimfit tampons that would work. If it feels uncomfortable, it may not be in correctly.

Okay, im only 14 and i wanna have a baby SO bad. My parents dont really love me((ive been told)) so i think this would help me alot. i've babysat for YEARS and LOVE children. I wanna feel loved when i come home and a baby would do that, and i think teen moms are closer to their kids. I plan on gettin pregnant in 10th or 11th grade.Am i making a mistake by wanting to do this.

Only you can determine when it is best for you to have a child. I can't tell you whether it would be right or wrong for you. However, there are a couple things that anyone who wants children should determine before trying to get pregnant. Please don't think I'm ragging on you when I say this. I told a 24 year old friend this same stuff when she mentioned she wanted a baby.

First, are you financially able to support the child? Children can be very expensive. Diapers and food alone can cost hundreds of dollars a month. That's not even counting the other things, such as doctor visits, clothing, toys, etc. I'm sure you don't want your baby going hungry because you cannot afford to feed him/her. Also, if you're still in school, who will take care of your child? Can you afford daycare?

Second, are you physically able to take care of a child? Do you have health problems that may make it difficult to care for a child? Are there any problems which will make it difficult to be up long hours with little sleep? Is your body even ready to carry and deliver a child?

Third, do you have the time to devote to a child. High school is a trying time, even without a child. Just keeping up with your classes will take a lot of your time. Are you willing to give up going out with friends and dating so you can be there to care for your child? Children require a lot of time and attention. You can't say well I won't do this for the baby because I have this other stuff to do.

Fourth, do you have the knowledge to care for a child? You say you've babysat for years, but do you know about the various stages of childhood? If your school offers it, I would suggest taking a parenting or child development class. It will give you a better understanding of what is involved in raising a child. If you do decide to have a child, you will have that much more to offer your child.

Last, do you have a good support system? Pregnancy is a very emotional time. I'm going on four months pregnant myself so I speak from experience. You will need someone there during pregnancy and even more so after the baby comes. It's not impossible to care for a child alone, but it is difficult.

I noticed you said that you don't feel loved and you think a baby will do that for you. Yes, a baby does love unconditionally. However, a baby comes with a lot of responsibilities. The helpless baby depends solely on you to make sure they're fed, clothed, bathed, changed, and cared for. It is a huge responsibility whatever your age.

There are other ways of feeling loved without putting yourself through the various difficulties of raising a child. Do you have friends you can depend on? Do you have a boyfriend who cares for you? Do you have a pet? Pets also love unconditionally as long as they're taken care of.

Good luck. I hope I've helped.

You know them free offer ad's where you have to hit something and then they say you get something free. Do they really work has anyone here ever tried them and they actually got a laptop, or ipod from them or are they just a scam ?

Thanks Alot. I'll rate 5's!

Usually with these "free" offers, you have to do something else or purchase something to get your "free" item. Some also give your computer spyware or viruses. In my opinion, they're scams, usually not worth the time.

What is a great book that I can read for long periods at a time? I kind of like to read so I need a great one. Thank you!*

A lot depends on the type of book you enjoy and also your reading level. I also love to read and it's not uncommon for me to go through several books a week if I have time. If you enjoy mysteries, I would suggest Sue Grafton or Mary Higgins Clark. Both of these authors have compilations of their work available where you can get 2-3 of their novels in one large book. For drama, try John Grisham or James Patterson. If you enjoy romance, try Nora Roberts (especially her trilogies) or Heather Graham. I don't really read science fiction or fantasy so I can't give you any recommendations there.

I am writing this because I don't know what to do. I am really scared that my use of alcohol is out of control. I feel pressured by my friends to be part of the drinking scene. I see people in the media using drugs for pleasure. When I'm drunk, I forget alll my problems and school is unimportant. I've dropped out of sports and I o what I can to get money for my alcohol. I bring little bottles of it to school because I can't going the day without it. Can you help me?

You've taken the first step by admitting you have a problem. The next step is seeking help. Talk to your parents or another trusted adult. If you don't feel comfortable talking to them, call 1-888-425-2666. This number is tollfree and will connect you with someone experienced in what you're going through. They can refer you to help in your area. Good luck.

My bf and I started going out a few days ago. Thing is, I am not the most pretty person. In fact, I reaally lack in the beauty department. I am bigger than my bf PLUS I am ugly. I have already heard of assholes staring at my boyfriend and snickering and whatnot. It sucks how these people could possibly break apart a relationship with potential. I mean, who wants to go through this critisism and crap like that? Any tips on how to survive the first few 'judgement' days (or maybe weeks) as a couple? I dont want him to break up with me over something so stupid as this.

If he's with you, chances are he finds you attractive. The best thing to do in this situation is simply ignore these people. It takes their fun away when they can't get a reaction out of either of you. I went through a similar problem before in high school. My boyfriend at the time solved the problem quite easily when he told the people making comments that he was with me because he loved me and if they couldn't understand that, then it was their problem, not ours. We ended up dating for 3 years.

Congratulations on your new relationship. Keep your chin up. What's important is that he wants to be with you, not what others may think. Good luck.

okay so i just got contacts like 3 months ago but i have dark dark circles i cover it up with makeup n im tired of it n so i heard you could freeze spoons...do you use plastic or metal? and what exactly do you do?? And do you know any home remedies or inexpensive products i could buy like $10 or less

It's generally a metal spoon. You just pop it in the freezer until it gets ice cold then close your eyes and lay the round part of the spoon against your eyes for 10-15 minutes. Another option is using a slice of cold cucumber or potato. Just cut 2 slices, close your eyes, place the slices over your eyes and lay back for 15-20 minutes.

I have heard that drinking tomato juice helps reduce circles. I have also heard that drinking lots of water may help.

Mix equal parts almond oil and honey. Massage on dark circles daily before bed. Wash your face clean in the morning. Alternate hot and cold clothes under your eyes for 10 minutes.

It is possible that you're low on iron or not getting enough sleep. Try taking a good quality multivitamin (I recommend One-a-day) and making sure to get at least 8 hours of sleep daily.

All of these remedies are fairly inexpensive. You may even have some of the items in your refrigerator. I hope this helps.

How can I find out and suggest help for my sister without her getting upset? My parents also might think she's bipolar but we're afraid to talk to her about the idea because she'll flip out on us. She's been getting worse as the years go by. Any help would be great. I rate

The best thing to do is have your sister checked out by a doctor. By speaking with your family and your sister, the doctor can determine if she is bipolar and the best treatment for her. Treatment varies by person and may include counseling or medication. I'm including some links to information for you.

my freind thinks im anemic soooo

1) how can you tell if youre anemic?
2)how do you get anemic?
3)how can you be not anemic anymore?

Anemia is where you have fewer red blood cells than normal. Possible symptoms are tiredness, paleness and sometimes shortness of breath.

The only way to know for sure if you're anemic is to make an appointment with your doctor. They'll do a physical exam, ask some questions, and usually draw a little blood. It's quick and relatively painless. They usually just prick your finger and analyze a drop of blood. It can be done in the doctor's office within a few minutes.

In most cases, it can be treated fairly easily. They'll usually give you a list of iron-rich foods to include in your diet. I was anemic earlier this year, but it was easily treated by folowing the diet the doctor recommended. More severe cases may required medication and sometimes blood transfusions.

When i was at the doctors, they said i had something called urethitis.. but when i tried to search it on the internet, it came up like Chlamydia or something like that.. is that the same thing? and what is it?

Urethritis is the inflammation (swelling and irritation) of your urethra (the tube where your bladder empties from your body). It can occur for various reasons, but generally is caused by STDs. That may be why it came up with information on STDs when you searched. I'm including a few links with more information for you.

I have asthma and all but

why exactly do we use inhalers?

i mean how exactly does it affect us?

Inhalers get the medication directly to your lungs where it's needed rather than having to wait for a pill to take effect. Smoking anything is not recommended for people with asthma. It irritates the lungs, which will make it worse.

how do i go about getting my decree absolute certificate now that i am divorced, and want to re-marry

If you went through a lawyer, contact your lawyer and ask where it is. You can also go to the courthouse where the divorce was finalized and request a certified copy. The first one is usually free (it might vary depending on where you are) and after the first, it's $10-20 for one. Make sure you get a certified copy. For legal matters, they will not accept it unless it is a certified copy.

I would like some big words and phrases to replace little words. For example, articulate = smart. I would like these words for in the future to be used in school projects and to impress university colleges. So any big words would be good.

---Montrealfan

Actually articulate doesn't really mean smart. It's more like well-spoken and expressing yourself clearly and effectively. I'm not nitpicking you, but I know from experience that teachers and college admissions officers will notice that.

For other words (since I don't really know exactly which ones you're looking for), check the thesaurus if you have one handy. If you don't have one, there is a good one online at the link below. Good luck.

Ok, for school I have to choose a book for this book report thing. Any books you like apropriate for a seventh grade girl? (Only if they're really good, because I hate a lot of books!)

Thank you! xoxo abercrombiebabiex3

Just as long as we're together by Judy Blume is a great book. Every girl in my seventh grade class read it and loved it. Another good one is Say Goodnight, Gracie by Julie Reece Deaver. It's sad, but a great book. The Outsiders by SE Hinton (any book by her for that matter) is another good one. It remains one of my favorite books even now that I'm out of school.

Okay I have a compaq computer and I just recently restored my computer. Well my friend wants to restore hers but she has a dell, and doesn't have her restore disk. What would happen if I took mine restore disk (from compaq) and stuck it in hers which her computers a dell, do you think it would mess it up? If it would does anyone know where I can get a dell restore disk?

It probably would not work. Most computers have a built in system restore, usually accessed through accesories or the control panel. Another option is to contact Dell about getting a disk.

I was just wondering, do y'all spend more time with your bf/gf or with your friends?

It's important to spend time with both. Remember that even when the boyfriend is gone, your friends usually remain. While you do want to spend time with your boyfriend, it's also important that you have some time for yourself. It's needed for a healthy relationship. I'm married and my husband and I each take some time for ourselves and go out with our friends once a week.

I have a bad sweating problem. Even when it's cold, I sweat, and yeah i put deodorant on EVERDAY. but i still sweat ALOT and it shoes on my shirts. and im a girly girl and i love wearing short sleeve shirts, but i don't want that to SHOW. are there any deodorants that can stop it from showing? PLEASE HELP. I RATE 5'S FOR ANY HELPFUL ANSER.

Are you using deodorant or antiperspirant? Deodorants only mask the smell. Antiperspirants actually help prevent you from sweating. Have you tried the strongest antiperspirant you can find? If those still aren't working, I would talk to your doctor. Some people have overactive sweat glands and require prescription antiperspirants to help treat it.
