Across the street from me, an elderly couple sold their house and the people that bought it have two young boys, ages 4 and 7 I believe. They have asked me if I'd like to babysit for them and that's fine with me. I've babysat before but normally I'd do it free of charge. It's come the time where I'm getting older and I need to get money. I'll be driving in a year and my parents aren't going to be paying for my gas and car insurance. What would be a good amout of money to ask for? I don't want to be asking for too much. I'm 15/ female.
laceylikesthecolorblue answered Sunday March 13 2005, 5:10 pm: O.k. 5 dollars an hour iz wat i would do. It's not much, but it's polite. Normally people just pay you the amount they want to give you.
needadvice? answered Saturday March 12 2005, 11:05 am: well there are times that the people choose how much to pay you and other times you choose i would say dont go over 7 cause then they wont hire you and theyll just hire someone else.......happens to alot of people [ needadvice?'s advice column | Ask needadvice? XxMuFFinCaKesxX answered Wednesday March 9 2005, 1:14 pm: I say about 2-4 dollars an hour. You can also let them decide for you. They do that off the back sometimes. You don't want to got to high or they will never higher you again.
ShYbl0nD3 answered Sunday March 6 2005, 11:16 pm: Ask for about 5-8$ an hour. If they want to charge you more let them. They might also pay you more if you maybe do the dishes if there is any of if you clean some. I get 10$ an hour. but i only charged 5$ an hour so it basically depends on how much they would like to pay but go for 5-8$ [ ShYbl0nD3's advice column | Ask ShYbl0nD3 A Question ]
AnonymousAdvice answered Friday March 4 2005, 9:35 pm: okay this is what you defenitley should do. Ask THEM what they think would be a reasonable price. They always like that. I did that with tis one lady down the street and she decided 10/hour!! if i had said like 6 or 7 dollars, i would have been payed less! ask them, it benefits both! =)

squishy_kuschke answered Monday February 28 2005, 2:43 pm: well if it were me babysitting i would talk to the people i was sitting for and ask what they would think a reasonable price would be. then i would base it on the average of whats they siad per hour.
if you dont want to ask them then i would charge $4.50 an hour.

MiZzAdViCe16 answered Monday February 21 2005, 10:57 pm: i babysit and i ask for 10 dollars and SOMETIMES 15 dollars depending on if the people who are going to pay you could use the extra money or not
sarah0308 answered Monday February 21 2005, 9:34 pm: i think you should charge at least 5 and a max of 9. that way, you wont be charging them too much or they wont take advantage of you becuz they wont be paying you that much and then they will stay gone for a long time. when i baby sit my nieces and nephews i get paid 20-50 just for watchin them sleep and then feeding them breakfast. yeah so just make sure whatever you set the limit to that it is reasonable to not only your customers but to you!

Judy101 answered Monday February 21 2005, 7:46 pm: Hey Babysitter! I think that 5-8 dollars an hour would be great for you! I think this because anyone who has a babysitter who is willing to babysitt two crazy young boys is very lucky. You deserve the money for putting up with them, especially since you are 15. Most people like to start babysitting early and don't get much offers because they are young. That happened to me once. This lady never called me back because she found out I was only 12. It made me sad, but I realized that people really care how their children are treated and they don't want jusst anyone. You must be very special. Just be honest and go for it. If they do think that you are suggesting too much, then just agree with them and take what you can get. [ Judy101's advice column | Ask Judy101 A Question ]
LiSaxOBaBii answered Monday February 21 2005, 7:44 pm: im 13 almost 14 and i get paid 5 dollars. but then again, i'm only babysitting one kid and i'm younger than you. you should get at least 6 dollars.... [ LiSaxOBaBii's advice column | Ask LiSaxOBaBii A Question ]
S_C answered Monday February 21 2005, 7:36 pm: I think $6 per hour, if it's after your curfew, or after midnight or something, make it $6 per hour until midnight, then $7 per hour. Or $8 per hour after midnight.
So $6 per hour until midnight, then $7-$8 per hour after midnight. [ S_C's advice column | Ask S_C A Question ]

Karen answered Monday February 21 2005, 6:39 pm: Well since both of these kids are really young and active, you should probably charge at least $5.00 an hour or more. It all depends on how long you babysit them and if they are good and such.

hottdancer134 answered Monday February 21 2005, 6:37 pm: A good amount of money to ask for is between $3/hr. to $6/hr. But since your 15, you probably want to ask for a higher price. Maybe between $4 and $6. Hope this helps!!!
kelseyANDbethany answered Monday February 21 2005, 6:35 pm: Thats a great question. I babysit ALOT! It`s my only source of money! Usually I charge five dollars and hour. Thats a fair wage. They might also already have a price that they pay their babysitters. If that happens then you can negotiate with them and see what a fair price would be. I know it might be embarassing, but you will be happy you did it in the end. Hope i helped!
