A few thoughts I've gathered from my teenage years (and being on this site for most of them!):
1. If you Google song lyrics, the song will come up 99% of the time.
2. Dress to fit your body type, and buy the size that fits. If you're a size 6, squeezing into a 4 won't make you look skinnier. It makes you look fat when you aren't.
3. You will never regret waiting to lose your virginity.
4. There is such a thing as a stupid question, but we're all allowed to ask them.

but the thing is im homeschooled and shes not....

Nope, I don't think anything would change between you- there's no reason for it. Next year, you would see each other a lot more (during school). That's really the only thing :)

has hot oil products ever helped your hair? i heard they dont work. i have used something once but i dont remember what brand and it did nothing for my hair. is there something that can? like what are deep conditioners?

I use warm olive on my ends (roots will get really oily if you put oil on them) and it makes my hair stronger & shinier. It also makes split ends less noticeable for awhile.

Leave-in conditioners are a good idea, too. You can get them in any price range. Bed Head has a really nice one but you'll pay around $20 for it. Pantene & Aussie make leave-in conditioners too and you can get them for under $5 at any drugstore. Use them on damp hair & they'll work best.

sorry i had to capitalize for their grossness.

HOW DO I GET RID OF THEM?? our house gets them all year.. mostly in the winter but i dont want them anymore! this morning there were three that ran under my feet while i was on the computer and i was so grossed i had to go to another! its cause my computer is in the basement where rats/mice and other bugs come. woopee. are there any special sprays or traps for centipedes/millipedes? if you hae an answer i'll be so freaking grateful cause i couldnt hit those centipedes/millipedes that went under my feet but those looked kinda big.. wtf do they eat anyways to survive.

Hardware stores have these really nifty sticky traps. They're basically a container of goo that traps the bugs & kills them.

Also, those things love moisture. So clean out the basement as best you can & get a dehumidifier if possible. Both things will help :)

So yeah. I'm friends with a lot of boys in my school. Girls have never really liked me, so I surround myself with boys. I have about 20 good guy friends. All of my guy friends and even some guys that I'm not really friends with always make sexual references towards me. Anything that has to do with anything sexual, they'll bring me into it. They call me a slut, a whore, a hooker, whatever. I know they're joking around, but why do they do it? It's always me. It's always been me thats been called the slut or the whore.
The thing is, I am in no way a slut. I've kissed two boys in my life. They know that. I know I'm not skanky. But why do they say all these things to me? They all always watch me eat at lunch too, especially if I have a banana or something haha. Does this mean that they like me? That they think of me in that way a lot? What does it mean because its been confusing me for a year. Any input would help. Just so you know, it doesn't bother me emotionally. They're not taunting me or anything, it can just get annoying.

They're guys. Especially if they don't know you, they think that since you have a lot of guy friends & hang out with them all the time that you're a slut. Which makes no sense. They're being immature morons, so don't worry about what they're saying to you- ignore it like you probably already do.

If they're truly your friends they know you're not a slut & they're just joking around :)

can you get meningitis from touching turtles?

I would have to say it's very unlikely. However, you can get other things like salmonella from turtles, so washing your hands is a good idea.

I suppose in theory, if someone with menengitis coughed phlegm all over a turtle, you picked up said turtle, and then licked your hands, you could get it. But that's just disgusting...

i like my best friend. i grew up with him and he was my best friend for the last 3 years. I’ve never had a boyfriend (bf) but I told him I liked him and he said he liked me then everything just stopped for 2 weeks i dono why and we did nothing about it and for a week of that i was in dead hate with him id do anything to piss him off but now were really close again (cursing him out to telling him I love him-in a friend way). i love him but I treat him like my other best friends. They think that’s wrong. I can say anything to him and there is only 2 people in my life that I can him and my friend that liked him now hates him as of yesterday. Im just very comfortable around him ill tell him anything. He knows im depressed, and struggling he is there for me. He made it so much better and makes me worry a lot less about it. I love being around him. We used to talk about our crushes of other people and us, but now when it comes to talking about crushing or love we smile and end up flirting like little kids in a way I love it lol. everyone says im gothic and i hate that more than anything but hes fine with my ''gothic''clothes and hxc music scares him but he loves it somehow thats the only reason i can be who i am. before i tried to change myself for the last guy and it was a very big mistake and he remembers it.
I don’t know If Im making a big deal about this or what it’s tearing me up. This is the only thing I can’t talk to him about anymore and we used to. I tried but changed the subject after first word… what should I do? Dating friends is tricky. If you both care about each other- it's probably worth giving a shot. Plus, since you've known each other so long, you'll realize soon enough if you love each other like brother/sister, or something more. And the relationship can end without you two hating each other. If you really like this guy it's probably worth a shot. Next time you're together, talk about how much you care about him, how happy he makes you, ec. Basically everything you just typed to me, tell him- You don't have to change yourself around him, you can tell him everything... all good stuff.

im 13 years old and a female and my mom treats me like im 30
she wants me to wash the dishes every night and clean the kitchen , and the bathroom , and my room, even my 8 year old brother's room
am like cinderella?
the worst part is that when i do these things she wont even say thank you or tell me that i did a good job, she just acts like's it's nothing.
but wen i do something wrong she yells so much till i just feel like crying.
at the same time of cleaning those and doing all the chores, she also expects me to get straight a's in skool
like she'll freak out if a get an 82 on test and tell me that ill never get anywhere in life if i dont do good in skool.

Okay, I can see her making you clean the bathroom and your room and the kitchen. They're called CHORES. I do, however, think that an 8 year old is capable of cleaning his room (besides maybe vaccumming) so ask NICELY if you can be relieved of that duty. Explain that everyone else cleans their own room, and maybe he should start doing it, too. Do chores without complaint- your mom's doing a lot for you in return: a place to live, food every day, buying you clothes.

Parents expect a lot out of their kids. They may freak out when you bring home an 82. Mine do quite frequently. Why? They know that I'm capable of straight A's if I try a little. So all they're doing is pushing me to do my best & achieve all I can.

Sometimes it all gets overwhelming. Find a good friend to vent to, write in a journal, scream into a pillow, play music really loud, do whatever it takes to chill out. And you should be fine :D.

But I think you have to buy the charger separetly, it's hard to tell with the wording, though.
Most of those batteries are regualr AAs, just bound together. Cameras that can run on any kind of battery, like you can put regular AAs in, are the best.

my formal dance is coming up.
my date has gorgeous eyes. theyre every color. theyre green and blue and hazel all mixed together. theyre gorgeous
and i want gorgeous eyes too.
except my eyes are plain brown..
but i am a girl so makeup comes in handy =D
my dress is dark blueish, but i dont really want the makeup to be intensely blue
so i was thinking of more of a shimmery brown

Almay's Eyeshadow Trios.
The one for brown eyes.
That brown is such a pretty color.
I have brown eyes too, and I always buy it just for that brown.
It lasts an insanely long time, like if I mix it with other colors, the brown ends up lasting longer.
Also, wear a good mascara, I like Maybelline Great Lash Blackest Black.
Eyeliner works really good too; if you normally use a really thick line, try using a thinner one, it can really make your eyes pop. Even try a dark brown or ameythist. NYC has inexpensive waterproof eyeliner if you don't want to spend a lot.
Since brown eyeshadow tends to "pop" more than other colors, keep your lip color a neutralish color- it'll look more natural & need less touchups.

I have a formal dance coming up and i have to look PERFECT. My best friend, and the most popular guy in school, is my date, and tons of girls are going to be angry with me and criticing me. So I want there to be absolutely nothing they can critique me about! I have the perfect dress and shoes and stuff all planned out, but what are some things I can prepare in the weeks before? Drinking water, eating healthy, working out...moisturizing...uh what else?

Oh and I heard that if you don't shave for 2 weeks before and then shave the day of you'll get a smoother shave..thoughts?

Waiting two weeks seems like a bit much, but yes it's true that if you don't shave as frequently your legs will be smoother afterwards, because they skin won't be as irritated. So maybe don't shave 4 or 5 days before. And use an exfoliating scrub before, too.

Drink water- but you should really be doing that all the time, not just before a dance. Same with moisturizing. It's good to get into a routine, espeicailly in winter. Do so twice a day, morning and night. Test out whatever makeup you're going to do a couple of days before- that way, if the eyeshadow you thought matched your dress perfectly actualy gives you a "dying pinkeye victim" look, you'll have time to change your colors/plans. Wear a good deoderant that smells good even after a couple hours.

And also, go to the dance and JUST HAVE FUN. Seriously, people are going to critique you if you're going with
a) the most popular guy in school
b) no one
c) group of friends
d) shy kid from algebra
e) your cute neighbor
You get the idea. If you don't let it be shown that they're bothering you they'll give up eventually. have a good time & everything'll be great.

Oh, and take pictures early on in the night, most people do anyways before they get to the dance. Your hair and makeup will literally be picture-perfect, since you just did it five minutes ago, know what I mean?

So I never really had a problem with dry lips until now. Winter is coming, and my lips are becoming insanely chapped. So I want to use chapstick, except that stuff tastes sooo bad...and I'd like something that my boyfriend can also enjoy ;). Something minty...or fruity...either way, as long as its moisturizing and isn't sticky! Help?? Links please!

Minty Chapstick (I think there's peppermint, or something) doesn't taste like regular Chapstick.
Blistex makes Fruit Smoothie flavors of chapstick, those are pretty good too and you get three in a package.

Liquid Lipsmacker Strawberry Kiwi also tastes really good (a lot of my friends use it and boyfriends like it too, haha), but it can get sticky if you use a lot of it at once.

No.
Eating chocolate will not make you break out.
Unless you're allergic to it.
Potatop chips will only make your skin more greasy if you scrub the oil into your pores and smear the chips on your face.

At the same time, if you eat a diet consisting entirely of junk food, you're depriving your skin and body of the vitamins it needs. This can make you look sickly/pale/lower healing rate of acne scars/etc.

So basically, a chocolate bar isn't going to make you break out, but a Super Size Me diet isn't going to help matters any either :)

Lately my school has been talking to us about abortion. They think it's wrong and I'm not sure about it. I'm NOT pregnant, but there are girls in my school who are and each of them has said they wish they would have had an abortion. I think it's wrong, but it could also be for the best if one was to have an abortion.

Please voice your opinions on abortion. I would love to hear everything you have to say about it.

I'm almost completely against it.

It's acceptable, though, if by going through with the pregnancy your life would be in danger. For example, many girls who can get pregnant, their bodies aren't able to carry the child & it could kill them. This happens a lot when girls are raped. A 12-year old could have her period, but not be ready in other ways. Also, etopic pregnancies are deadly to both mother AND baby.

Other than that, it's your own faut you got pregnant. When you have sex there's that chance that you will, no matter how small. There are so many people wanting to adopt, I don't see any reason not to go through with the pregnancy & give someone the opportunity to raise a child.

my lip split in half. how do i repair a chapped lip fast?

If you have it, put a dab of Neosporin on the cracked part of your lip. There's a product specially made for lips, too, if you're going to end up buying something. Don't eat it though, make sure you rub it in well.

Also, use chapstick frequently, or Vaseline. Anything that'll keep your lips moisturized.

The quote you provided is basically saying that as we replace things that take time (such as buttoning a button) with more efficient things (like a zipper) we lose the time we once had to stop and think. One of the recurring themes on Fahrenheit 451 is speed- how quickly everyone moves from one acitivty to another, to the point that everything is just a blur.
