How am I a slut?

Question Posted Thursday November 15 2007, 9:53 am

17/F
So yeah. I'm friends with a lot of boys in my school. Girls have never really liked me, so I surround myself with boys. I have about 20 good guy friends. All of my guy friends and even some guys that I'm not really friends with always make sexual references towards me. Anything that has to do with anything sexual, they'll bring me into it. They call me a slut, a whore, a hooker, whatever. I know they're joking around, but why do they do it? It's always me. It's always been me thats been called the slut or the whore.
The thing is, I am in no way a slut. I've kissed two boys in my life. They know that. I know I'm not skanky. But why do they say all these things to me? They all always watch me eat at lunch too, especially if I have a banana or something haha. Does this mean that they like me? That they think of me in that way a lot? What does it mean because its been confusing me for a year. Any input would help. Just so you know, it doesn't bother me emotionally. They're not taunting me or anything, it can just get annoying.

Well since all your guys are friends they may be saying that because they think of you as one of the guys. Guys will call other guys they are friends with pussies, bitches, faggots, etc. as a joke. So maybe that is their joking names towards you. Or it could be that they like you. Kind of like when you are in second grade and the little boy in front of you always makes fun of you or pinches you.... and then you find out three years later that they had a crush on you. so I guess might like you too. It's just a guy thing either way. I got called a slut by all my guy friends in high school. I asked one of them why they did it and they said it was just a joke. Then after I graduated I found out he had liked me for most of high school. So it could be a combination of the two. If you want to know then ask one of your close guy friends. Tell him it doesn't really bother you but you just wonder why. Hope I helped!

what it means is, you've let them get too comfortable with you. the thing is, yeah, girls can be bitchy, but if you only surround yourself with guys, who will you go to when guys are being jerks, like so? of course, it is in no way your fault if girls are negative to you, its nature. its also nature for guys to be guys, but even though it may be kidding, its disrespectful. you wouldn't want anyone else to overhear and take them seriously, and even worse, partake? its basically come to the point where they've accepted you as one of them, and have forgotten that you're a girl and have feelings, which is what you need to make them realize. make sure to be firm when doing so, otherwise they might just react to your "girly emotions". best of luck <3.

You said it, no way you're a slut. They've got no right to call you one, even as a joke. It's an ugly name.

This may be their clumsy way of trying to flirt with you. Or they may be trying to push your buttons and goad you into getting mad at them. Either way, it's immature and rude.

In your position, I'd just lay down the law, especially the guys that don't know you all that well. Just tell them thay've got no right to call you a slut, and it ends right there. If not, then you'll just start spreading rumors about them and their secret boyfriends. (Yes, I'm pretty evil when I get going!)

Hope this helps.

It isn't right that they call you a slut or anything. But sometimes people will call attention whores that as well. Possibly it comes across as if you seek attention. If a girl is like that with guys, it may make her seem promiscuous (sp)

Yes, they are guys, and yes they are fooling around and don't mean it, just like the other advisors have said.

HOWEVER, that doesn't make it okay. As thier female friend you will be doing them a favor if you tell them flat out that certain words are 'endearing' or funny. They will get thier asses very firmly dumped for treating many other girls the way they treat you.

Some gentle teasing is fine, but your friends have crossed the line into disrespectful if you can't eat a banana in peace.

They're guys. Especially if they don't know you, they think that since you have a lot of guy friends & hang out with them all the time that you're a slut. Which makes no sense. They're being immature morons, so don't worry about what they're saying to you- ignore it like you probably already do.

If they're truly your friends they know you're not a slut & they're just joking around :)

They're being stupid. Sometimes when a girl only hangs around guys or has few girlfriends, then it's automatically thought that she sleeps with them all even if they really know it isn't true (though this normally happenes with girls). Unlike girls, boys don't think people will be offended or get too annoyed by it, they don't have all the messy emotions girls have. They probably don't think they're really annoying or confusing you, they probably think its just what you said. They're kidding around and don't really mean it.
