"Do not pity the dead, Harry. Pity the living, and, above all those who live without love" - Albus Dumbledore

Hi, I'm Laura. I'm a senior in college & I'm slowly deciding what I want to do with my life. I love Harry Potter, coffee, writing, and sleeping (amongst other things). I'll never claim to know everything, but I'm confident in my ability to help people with their problems. Feel free to send me an inbox question; I'll get back to you!

A few thoughts I've gathered from my teenage years (and being on this site for most of them!):
1. If you Google song lyrics, the song will come up 99% of the time.
2. Dress to fit your body type, and buy the size that fits. If you're a size 6, squeezing into a 4 won't make you look skinnier. It makes you look fat when you aren't.
3. You will never regret waiting to lose your virginity.
4. There is such a thing as a stupid question, but we're all allowed to ask them.

BU 2014 :)

wicked awesome conversations

^my forum, liven it up a little?

advice

how long can food stay in the fridge?

No more than three to five days.
This site has helpful links:
http://www.ochef.com/196.htm

One of my friends takes a foods class in school and they told her about four days.

Otherwise, go with your instincts. If it doesn't smell quite right, or looks funny, throw it out. It's not worth risking food poisoning to save a little money.

Labeling food containers with the date you made something will help you remember too. There are labels made for this specific purpose, or you can just buy some cheap white labels at an office supply store.

If you make large batches of food (and are therefore throwing things away a lot) do what my family does: buy some individually-sized tupperware containers, and freeze portions of meals. They can last for weeks and taste almost as fresh as when you made it =]

Is it ok to stop taking birth control for good if i started it a week and a half ago? Its making me moody so i want to get off it.

Ask your doctor to switch you to a different pill.
Most are very similar, but have different artificial forms of your natural hormones. What works for your best friend, for example, might not agree too well with you. Wait at least a month before you judge if a certain pill works, though, because your body has to adjust. Ideally, you won't have any side effects, so be patient and find the one that's best for you (it's supposed to make you LESS moody!)

Okay so I've been looking for a car for awhile now and I found a 2002 Ford explorer with 127,000 Miles on it for $5,500. its been owned by one person and looks great. Is that a reasonable price for that kind of car? And if its been taken care of and I continue to take good care of it, how many miles would I be able to get out of it? Thanks in advance =]

According to Kelley Blue Book (www.kbb.com) it's a bit high.

http://www.kbb.com/KBB/UsedCars/PricingReport.aspx?YearId=2002&Mileage=127000&VehicleClass=UsedCar&ManufacturerId=15&ModelId=100&PriceType=Private+Party&VehicleId=3949&SelectionHistory=3949%7c30592%7c01569%7c0%7c0%7c&Condition=Good&QuizConditions=

If that link doesn't work, go to the homepage, and search used cars by make, model, and year, and whatever features it has.

However, it's a high mileage for only being seven years old, so more than likely that was mostly highway miles- which are better for the car. (Ex. my parents just bought me a 1997 Taurus that only had 70K miles... not too much highway driving there!)

Definitely take it for a test drive and make sure it runs well. I recommend having someone who knows cars look at it before you buy it.

So if the car is in really good shape, that isn't THAT bad of a deal. You can always negotiate a price a little, maybe 500 or 1000 (depending on how lenient they are)

I really don't know how many more miles you could get out of it, I'm not much of a car person in that respect =] Sorry!

Good luck!

im 16/f and i think my teeth are a little too big
if i want my teeth smaller, do i have to get surgery or what can the do to shrink it a little

My advice? Don't do anything.
Surgery would only make your teeth really weak, and you don't want that.
If you think they look bad, whiten them and take care of them. And be grateful that you can chew :]

The only way your teeth might actually look abnormally large is if your gums are receeding due to an infection or something, but your doctor or dentist probably would have picked up on that.

One month ago I took the morning after pill. and had been on my period the week before that. So I took the pill and about a week later I was on what seemed like my period but it was not the time I should have been on it. So now I should be on my period but have not gotten it yet. Should I be on it now? Or will I be on it a month after the time I had it when I took the pill??

The morning after pill is basically a huge amount of hormones - and it can throw off your cycle. If it's been more than a week after you were supposed to get your period this month, take a pregnancy test to be sure that the morning after-pill worked.

More than likely, you're experiencing a common side effect, which is an irregular period (because you got it at a weird time). It's common and to be expected.

In the future, use a reliable form of birth control - condoms or the pill - to avoid situations like this.

I just bought a Black Malibu.
& It was wrecked.
(My dad & Brother in law are fixing it)
On the door, is a substance, sort of like a black mark, it rubs off, but its harder to rub off than a black mark.
I was wondering if there was anything that can remove this, that wouldnt take off the paint.

My grandmother drove her car through my garage door, and my boyfriend fixed it with this really nifty polishing stuff.

It took the paint off and got all the gunk out of scratches and helped to buff them away. I'll ask him what it's called later and get back to you on that =)

EDIT: Actually, I did. But the edit never saved.
It's called rubbing compound and you can buy it at any auto parts/auto body store.

Sorry about that.

i need a cute cheap dress for a wedding. Maybe a website online? Thanks itd help

Depends on your definition of cheap =]

Forever 21 is a good start. Most, if not all, of their dresses, are under $30.

You could also check out Delia's, Victoria's Secret, and department stores like Kohl's and Macy's. Kohl's is nice because they have a lot of the same brands as other stores but they have a sale 99% of the time. Target has really nice designers doing clothing lines for the store, too.

Hey is there going to be a season 6 for niptuck? If so.... When does it start?
Thanks

Looks like they'll be playing for the next couple years, with 100 episodes in all:

Normally Wikipedia isn't the best source, but for things like this it's pretty reliable.

I used to like this song, but I can't think of who sings it or the name of it. I remember one part that went...
"olly olly oxen free"
if you know the channel fuse they used to play it on there. I think it'd be considered rock, or something like that. It's been buggin me for a while and i've tried searching for it, but no luck so far. If you know the song please let me know. Any answers are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance :)

It could also be "Play With Me" by Extreme.

Is there anything to do about excessive sweating? I'm a girl, and i play sports, and i always sweat SO much, like way more than everyone else. It's really gross...is there anything I can do to help?

Try using Secret Clinical Strength. It's an amazing product and everyone I know that uses it (including myself) has had excellent results. Typical useage is applying it at night (and/or after a shower) and using a regular deoderant if you feel that you need to.

If this still doesn't help, you might need to see a doctor who can discuss other options with you. However, you're probably fine. A lot of people sweat (especially teenagers) and stressing about it will only make you sweat MORE!

Alright well,
last year i met this guy and everything was really good but then he started dating this girl and things got really messed up. so we stopped talking until this january, when he randomly started talking to me again. Ive tried to resist it and everything cause of what he did before, i have dated other people recently, and it was fine cause i finally thought i was over him. So we havent really talked in about a month, but randomly tonight he text me saying he wants to see me. and im like i dunno maybe sooon. and hes just being really nice again and stuff. i really liked him alot, and i guess i still do.. he is the ONLY guy i have not been able to get over, especially after a year and all that stuff. he always knows when to come back. but i dont know what he is thinking and stuff,i dont think its good timing to ask yet. but i dont know if i should give it a chance or try to keep moving on? everytime i try to move on, he comes back.

If you've been trying to get over him, any attempts to reconcile a 'relationship' will only erase all the progress that you've made in getting over him. It's perfectly okay to pursue a friendship, but from what I'm gathering from your question, if you try to get back together you're just continuing a vicious cycle.

Personally, I'd talk to this guy, maybe hang out with some mutual friends. I'd rather be dating a guy who wouldn't give me any bullshit like this. It seems like he's just messing with your head & not really worth your time anymore.

Thanks for inboxing :]

Wasn't quite sure what subject this would go under, so sorry if I put it in the wrong one.
Anyways, I was wandering if anyone could give me a famous quote about things being similar or comparing?
I couldn't find anything on google.
thanks.

My mama always said, "Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get." ~ Forrest Gump :]

At the end of the show, Grace and Jack are hand in hand and they go to her locker. Then she pops a pill and Jack hands her the bottle of water to drink it down.

Does that mean she had sex with Jack after all?

And can anyone tell me what happened between the mom and that architect guy with curly hair? I missed that part..

She went on the pill so that when she was ready to have sex with him, she wouldn't be in a situation like Amy is. The whole point of birth control is to be taking it regularly BEFORE you actually need it for birth control purposes.

I'm pretty sure they're dating (but probably not serious yet)

my boyfriend is having all four of his wisdom teeth out thursday. i'm going to stop by his house and see him. i want to take him a small present as a surprise. he brought me my favorite flowers when i had my surgery because he was going out of town the next day. i'm going out of town the night after i drop by his house, so it's a similar situation. does anybody have any ideas? i'm thinking maybe some of his favorite ice cream? or something cute/romantic? he's what you might call an "old fashioned romanic" if that helps. i just want to show him i love him. :) thanks!

Honestly, don't bring him ice cream yet because he won't be able to eat it. It's too cold. Bring him some movies & stuff to keep him occupied- he'll be sleeping a lot. Pudding snacks & Jell-O in a basket, and juice, would be sweet, cause that's all he's probably going to be eating for a day or two.

Once he feels better (and you're back home) you can get him ice cream and other food that's actually edible =]

Okay, well for Valentines day my boyfriend bought me this really pretty necklace. It wasn't an expensive expensive type, however it was from a jewellers store, not an accessories store so it's worth a bit of money.

Anyway, he's not one to throw around his money. He comes from a very poor working-class family, and he doesn't make a lot of money himself, so for him this was probably a big thing.

I'm gonna guess the necklace was between 30-50 dollars, and that's what I'm really hoping with what I'm about to ask...

He slept over at my house last night. When we went to bed I took the necklace off and put it on my bedside table. In the morning, I went for my phone to check the time and I flipped everything off it. Including the necklace.

I just came home from work and realised that my necklace was part of the stuff that flipped. I found the chain, but the pink pendant/charm thingy (the thing that makes the necklace a necklace) is gone.

There's abosolutely no way to find it. My room is HELLA messy, plus I'm fair sure it dropped into a box full of absolute crap, and even if I took everything out I wouldn't be able to find it, it's so tiny and would fall out once I move around stuff.

So now I'm really nervous about telling him. As I said, that's a big deal to him, and I'm scared he'll react about the sentimental value as well.

I could always not tell him...but I always wore it, and he'd eventually ask why I don't wear it anymore...

Look for it. Isn't this the perfect opportunity to clean your "hella messy" room? You might find other things that have gone missing too.

Your boyfriend was there when the necklace was over. So, explain to him that when everything fell off, the necklace did too. The charm has to still be there somewhere, so be totally honest. He sleeps over- so he knows that your room is a mess already. It's in there somewhere! Maybe he'll even help you clean!

Also, you could try to figure out where he bought it and buy a new one. However, in this case I would say that is quite ridiculous, since the charm is in your room and you know it. It'd be a waste of money.

In the future (or if you don't want to clean after you look for the charm) keep a jewelry box on your nightstand and put the necklace in there when you take it off. That way, when it falls off, it'll be in a relatively large box.

Good luck! :]

ok so i just started birth control loestrin24fe to be exact :] and im a bit confused. what if im done my peroid and i still have the brown pills left. do i just finish the pack fully and then just when im done just start a new pack?
thanksss very very much
:]

Yup, take one pill every day. And start a new pack the day after your first one is gone. Your period will become regular after a couple months; in the meantime don't worry if you have it at the right time or not.

hey there, so i understand if you cant directly answer this question for content, but i have a question about giving my boyfriend a handjob. i've never done it before, and i wanted to know some things like if you reach under their pants and their boxers or what? or like do they get hard on your own or if you have to do it? im really confused haha and id really appreciate it if someone can help me out or give me a website. thank you!! :)

Websites are pretty helpful. So is asking your boyfriend what he likes. After all, who knows them better than themselves?

Sorry I can't be more helpful on here, but thanks for inboxing! :]

what are the secret sexual things normally females would like to get it done? I am curious, want to give it as surprise! (it tough to know what women want)

Also, one of my fantasy is to smell, would it annoy her?

I can't really answer your question, I'm pretty sure it'd go against the rules of the site. Why don't you ask her what she wants?

when cooking instant noodles, why does it matter if you wait until the water is boiling to add both the flavoring and noodles in?

It doesn't matter, like it won't blow up if you add the noodles and the seasoning together. But it can slow down how quickly it boils if you add the seasonings first, because salt water has a higher boiling point. Plus, if the seasoning cooks into the noodles it's a slightly different taste.
