I can't answer this in much detail because minors use this site, but I will try my best.
Basically, do what you are comfortable with. Grope with pants on at first, or just go straight in, or both. Ask him how he likes it. It's not embarrassing to ask him for advice, because all guys are different and like things done in different ways. It may also be a turn on for you both if he guides your hand with his. Before you do it, ask him if he can let you know whether to change anything as you are doing it (faster, slower, harder etc) because like I said, everyone's different.
As for getting hard.. it can be both ways. He may already be hard if you're doing things before you give him a hand job.. or he may like you to get him hard too.
This search will not show up on your comp btw. and they will go into things in a lot more detail.

Here's the only advice I can give you. Google this exact phrase I'm about to tell you. It's really important, so don't forget, okay?
"How to give a handjob".
Bam. There's your answer. I'm sure there's more than one million websites JUST about that. You're sure to find one that can help you.
And silly you, you thought you needed ME to figure that out! ;]
