Boys who were Hollister: What do people think?
Hi,
I recently bought some clothes from the Hollister at my mall. I am a 17 year old boy and think the clothes are nice.
When I got home and showed my 13 year old brother the clothes I got (a polo and a sweatshirt) he started screaming at me and said that only posers and gays were Hollister.
I know quite a few people don't like Hollister and quite a few people do.
I am wondering what people think of boys who wear Hollister?

You're clothes do not in anyway define your sexual prefrence or personality. Teenages, as the age of your brother, commonly think they do.
I personally love it when guys where Hollister, their clothes are some of my favorites, that usually means me and the guy have something in common.
You clothes are your choice, no one elses.

i think that boys who wear clothes from hollister are normal. the thing is, your brother, at 13, is probably conscious of what people think of other people and feels that he needs to alert you to this. in other words, people that call other people posers and gay just because they wear a certain type of clothing are morons. a lot of my guy friends wear clothes from hollister and they're quite fashionable. a lot of skaters and stuff get really pissy about clothing from stores like hollister, but once again, they are morons for judging people by appearance.

I personally love when guys wear Hollister, but since I'm a "scene" girl, the guy has to be a "scene" guy. Which means wearing girl jeans and having black hair over one eyes. You know what I mean. Hah.

Of course your brother is going to make fun of you because you're wearing Hollister clothes. He is your brother, that is what they do. They're always on your case for something. Just ignore him and he will probably stop saying that.
People will have their opinions on what you wear and there's nothing you can do to prevent that. Different people like different things. You can't please everyone. The only one you can please is yourself. If YOU like Hollister, then go ahead and wear it. Don't wear it because everyone else does, wear it because you like it and it makes you who you are. ♥

well, it's up to you to wear what you want to wear and not let others influence you. but as far as what girls and other guys think, too much hollister is kindof gay. it's not hot when a guy has everything from hollister. yeah, a polo or a shirt here and there is okay but just make sure you're not overdoing it. =]

Your brother needs to stop stereotyping people. What he said is far from the truth. Not all preppy guys are gay and not all gay guys are preppy. Just like not all feminine guys are gay and not all gay guys are feminine. I know gay football players and I know straight male fashion designers.

If you are comfortable in your clothes and think they look good on you, then it doesn't matter what your little brother thinks. In fact, anyone who cares that much about what brand of clothing you wear is likely very shallow. I don't think anyone should let shallow people get to them. I know this sounds incredibly cheesy, and I apologize for that, but it is really your opinion of yourself that matters. What you think of yourself shows in so many ways. If you are confident and comfortable, it will show. If you think you look gay or like a poser, then that is how you will appear. No matter what you wear, someone will criticize it for one reason or another, so wear what you want and ignore the critics. Or wear nothing. That would get a different reaction altogether (ok, that would not be a good idea, but I bet someone reading it laughed, and that is always good. I'm in a bit of an odd mood tonight. Hope I didn't offend anyone)

I think it's pretty gay dude to be honest with you. I think you would be better off wearing Armani Exchange or Diesel..something like that; high class and looks way better than Hollister. Besides Hollister sounds like the last name of a serial killer or a doctor that everyone hates as a kid because he always gave you a needle.

I disagree with alot of the girls that gave you advice... personally I think hollister is unoriginal because you see a zillion people wearing the same exact outfit. So I really don't like guys that wear hollister/abercrombie. You're brother just has his own point of veiw just like everyone else. Here's how it is generally: girls that wear hollister/ abercrombie like guys who wear hollister/ abercrombie. and girls that don't.. well i guess they don't. But whatever, wear what you want as long as you actually like it and aren't wearing it just cause it's Hollister, or whatever brand.

You have to keep in mind that he is at the age where physical appearance is probably all that matters to most children. And not only that, but that type of forceful mind set is all new to him. I'm assuming he is either feeling pressured to run with the crowd or rebel entirely, I know I did at that age. The bottom line is that people are going to have opinions all day long, and someone will always be thinking negatively of you despite your surroundings. It's just the way today's society seems to be. What is all boils down to your personal preference. If you like your clothing, then who really cares what the general public thinks? You can't live your life according to other people, particularly thirteen year olds. ;)

It really depends on the person. This much is certain though...you will attract a lot of preppy girls who are also into Hollister.
I'm not all that into Hollister, but I like that it's more of a clean-cut look, it's appealing. =]

Guys who wear Hollister are HOTT! Well, most or half at least. Not everyone likes every store. For instance, some people can't stand Hollister and some people dislike PacSun, even though I think those are two good stores. The point is that not everyone will like where you shop or what you wear, but you have just got to learn how to deal with it because the only person you should be pleasing is yourself. Your brother is going to be judgemental, cause he's thirteen. I've noticed younger siblings tend to do that, but at your age you more into what you like opposed to what people say.
At my school, it's pretty cool to wear Hollister, and the guys who do wear it are not referred to as gay or posers. I'm sure no one will care much, and if you like the clothes than that's all that matters.
