No, you shouldn't be scared. Flyings not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Sure, the takeoffs & landings are a little scary at first, but they're the best part.

Chewing gum helps keep your ears from popping [and sometimes, depending on how far you go, the popping can hurt]. As does yawning. So, if you would like to keep your ears from popping then chewing gum & yawning are the best things to do.

Getting sick all depends on the type of person you are. If you have a weak stomach than there is a stong possibility that you might get sick. I've never gotten sick on a plane, but there are people who do. Like my mom, for instance, can't drink dark pops [sodas or cokes, whatever you call them] on a plane or she'll get sick. She can only drink clear things, like Sprite or Seirra Mist. So, maybe you should stick to the clear drinks.

I usually take a book and/or magazine on the plane with me. Depending on how long the flight is, really. Sometimes I just sit there and stare out the window. You can take CD players & MP3 players, too, but I never do.. for, well, fear of something might happen [I don't want to scare you, so i'll just leave it at that].

Flying is actually pretty fun, though. You can hit turbulance, which can be a little scary if your flying for your first time [geez, it can even be scary if it's not your first time]. I hope you have fun on your trip.. & enjoy the plane ride. ;D

Nikki.

I've been on planes plently of times, like when i was 12 i went on by myself, yeh sure i was scared it's only natural but really it is nothing to be scared of. As for the chewing of gum, it would be a godd idea due to the change of air pressure at take off and landing, the change in the air pressure trend to make your ears want to pop, you know the feeling when you all of a sudden can barely hear anything and when u open your mouth wide, yawn, or chew gum it goes back to normal. That i why many people chew gum on planes, it helps distribute the air pressure.
There is a possibilty of getting sick but i wouldn't worry to much, many people get sick form the change of air pressure and the fear of getting sick, I take gravol (travel tablets) when I go onto a plane, because it settles your stomach and helps you sleep, at least when you are asleep you are not worrying about stuff. I suggest sleeping, reading, make a friend sitting next to you on the plane, there are alot of people from alot of different places on planes, usually their pretty cool.Hope I helped, plz rate.

You shouldn't be scared at all. Plane rides are actually fun for most people.
You should chew gum to prevent ear popping which hurts. X [
Buy "AIRBORNE" and take it and you won't get sick.
When the plane is taking off, watch the scenery. Some planes have a movie playing while the flight is going, if yours doesn't, then listen to music or read.

Hey. Well, I've been on planes plenty of times, and trust me, you have nothing to be scared about. It's just a smooth ride, and all yoru have to do is just relax. Usually there will be a knob to turn on the air condition if you want to sleep and if you sleep better when it's cool (I know I do). You can read like a book, magazine, etc. or listen to music. They'll have magazine in the pocket in front of your seat, so you can look at those. Also, they might sell things to keep you busy at airports, so you could purchase them before you take off. People chew gum when the plane is taking off because usually your ears get blocked. Oh yeah...most of the time the flight attendents are really nice, and they'll serve you snacks and a drink. I hope you have a fun and safe trip, and I hope I helped!

Hi.

-No you shouldn't be scared. You should take a stuffed animal on with you just incase though. I heard they help you calm down.

-Chewing Gum is to stop your ears from popping. Since its your first time, your eyes are probably gonna pop. So you should chew gum.

-You shouldn't get sick.

-Take a DVD on with you and watch thats what I do. Have a handheld video game. Or if you have a laptop, take that on with you.

Hope I helped, and have fun on your vacation! :D

You don't need to be scared. Airport security is very high and secire right now. Chewing gum helps some people with nerves or when they are landing/taking off the plane because a sudden change in altitude can cause their ears to pop. If you get motion sickness you might get sick but motion sickness bands or medicine will take care of that. Earplugs and swallowing frequently will help with the ear popping. To keep busy you can listen to music, read a little (sometimes reading in cars, busses, planes, etc, can make some people feel sick), watchan in flight mvie if availabe, play cards, bring along an acitvity book, write letters to friends, anything that you would do normally.

Don't worry and have a great vacation :)

S_C answered Sunday June 18 2006, 10:50 pm:
I've flown a kajillion times (and yes I know that's not a real number)

1. No, there isn't anything to be scared about. Don't get yourself all worked up, if you get too nervous then you start to focus too much on the little things and it scares you even more. Just try to relax

2. You chew gum when you're taking off and landing. Want to know why? To pop your ears. I don't know how to describe it, but when you get to a really high elevation something occurs that makes your ears feel funny, chewing gum helps stop the feeling and it unpops your ears.

3. Probably not. I've never gotten sick on an airplane. They have sick bags just incase, little white bags. If you don't worry and just relax then you should be fine. If you get motion sickness in cars/trains/buses, etc. then you may.

4. Read a book/magazine (unless it makes you feel queasy) after a little bit they allow you to use electronics, so bring a CD player/mp3/ipod, bring a coloring book. I know it sounds immature but if you fixate on coloring then it will keep your mind off of flying. Also, when they offer you a drink, take slow sips. I'm not sure why, but that always disitracted me. If you're flying early in the morning or late at night, sleep. They usually will supply pillows/blankets. But just incase, bring a travel pillow. Every half an hour or so (while the fasten seat belt sign is OFF) walk down the aisle of the plain unless it means climing over people or something. If you can, get a window seat so you can watch the clouds go by, it's a beautiful view. If it's raining though, I suggest either not sitting near the window or keeping the shade down, it may make things seem scarier though they will most likely be fine. Remember, this piolet has flown before, probably a lot, everything will be fine.

Have fun on your vacation! The more you worry, the scarier the flight will be. Stay cool, keep your mind off the plane and think about what you will be doing on vacation.

You shouldnt be scared at all,
its no big deal!
It just feels weird taking off and landing, and if theres some turbulence when your up there, its a little strange at first, but you'll get used to it.
A lot of people chew gum because when you get higher up in the air, your ears pop, so chewing gum helps them to do it naturally,
To keep busy, read books, play a video game, watch a movie (sometimes they have them playing), listen to music, draw, color, etc :)

Hope I helped :)

-you shouldnt be scared.. security is VERY tight at airports, and people cannot get by with anything to be scared about.
-people chew gum because of the high altitudes that change, and it helps so that your ears dont pop
-most likely you wont get sick, but if you do they have motion sickness bags at each chair.
-you can do anything, listen to music, do word searches/sudoku, color, write letters to friends, sleep, anything!

NO WORRIES!! HAVE FUN! =)

Hi there....

I don't think you should be afraid. Tons of people go on airplanes, and they make to the ground alive.

You should chew gum. I don't know why, but when you're in the airplane, your ears fill up with air. It's either from the noise of the airplane, or how high you are in the sky.

You could only get sick from the food the fight attendent gives you, which I doubt, or if you get carsick a lot. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Do anything to keep busy. Read, listen to music, write, sleep, anything. Or you can watch out the window, you see cool things.

Hope I helped!

I wouldn't be scared, it is pretty smooth for the most part. I would bring gum, the reason they say to chew gum is because your ears are constantly popping (well at least mine were) because youa re high in the air. Some peoples ears don't pop at all, but i would bring some just in case, it doesnt matter what kind. Not many people get sick, but you never know. To keep busy, bring a cd player, mp3, ipod, magazines, books, things that you would normally bring to do on a long car ride. hope i helped.

1. Theres is absoulty NOTHING to worry about, these days the plane and air ports are sooo safe and really cracked down on securty.

2. Yes because when to take off and land the air preasure wiht change causing your ears to pop and if you cannot un-pop then it can be uncomfortalbe so if you chew gum while landing and taking off that should reduce your chaces of your ears poping

3. Mostly likly you won't if you can go on roller coasters, car rides, and such you should be fine. I've flow about a million times at least 8 times a year and so far I have never been on a plane (or at least sat near a person)who gets sick. ((but if you happen to do there are bags to get sick in))

4. You can basically do anything (I don't think you can call peoeple tho) But your flight attentand will tell you when to turn on and off electrons so just listen. But I will tell you you cannot have on any electronic while taking off or landing but while your taking off and landing look out the window its fun. There are also magazines in the seat pocket usually 2. So you can read or basically anything. I'm not totally sure what electrons you can have on but I don't know music players, portable dvd plays, ps2, Gameboys things that don't need a radio signal..

WELL HOPE I HELPED AND GOOOD LUCK!!

riding on a plane isn't that scary, once you get used to it. after the first 10 minutes you start to feel alot better about it.

1. nope, you definatly don't need to be scared. just relax
2. chewing gum could help, it'll keep your mind off what's stressing you.
3. you could get sick, but try not to look out the window so much if you feel like you're going to.
4. listen to your ipod, read a book, or just bring a portable dvd player (if they let you use it on a plane) & watch a dvd. :]

Hi, I will answer as best as I can.
1. It's normal to be scared of anything you do the first time. Just get into a position were you feel comfortable, take a few deep breaths, do something like read the paper or something that will distract you from your thoughts.
2. Chewing gum can be quite helpful
3. If it's your first time, theres a possibility that you may feel a bit sick. But you should be alright.
4. Read the paper/magazine, watch TV, listen to music, play a game, talk to someone.

Good luck!!! Hope it all turns out right. Daniel.

1No, flying in a plane shouldnt make you scared.
2 Chewing gum help with the pressure in the ears.
3 If you have alot of motion sickness, you may get sick, and you may get a little off balance during flight, if you stand up while in the air.
4, to stay busy, you could bring a couple books to read, bring a portable game system and some games, bring some cd's and a portable cd player, and you could play games with a person
{if your going with someone}

Ok, 1.no you shouldn't be scared, there really isn't anything to be afraid of, 2.chewing gum has alwasy worked for me, it helps with the pressure in your ears, 3. I don't know if you will get sick, but if you have a history of getting sick in the car or something, take a motion sickness pill in some apple sause(because the have a kind of gross taste) before boarding the plane, 4. the pill will make you very sleepy, so that is one thing, or if it is a long flight, they usually play movies, or you can bring books/magazines or like a CD player to keep you busy! I hope I helped!!!

Planes are fun! What to expect? A boring video about safety. But since it is your first time, just pay attention. It sounds like there's a vacuum running the whole time, so bring some music if you'd like. Don't be scared. The people on board the plane are trained and know what to do for any occasion. Plus, security is super tight. You should chew gum, right before takeoff and right before landing. I reccomend Orbit Orange, really good flavor; but of course anything works. Will you get sick? Maybe not. Just make sure you eat a good meal before (plane food isn't the best). To keep busy...well they have magazines on board. If you want like I said before bring your own music. A book would be great too. If you like sodoku puzzles those are a favorite. Playing cards work too. There's a small table for you, so basically if you want to bring anything or do anything that you would need a table for (even a laptop) feel free to bring it on board. If the flight is long enough, they will probably have a movie to watch.

So don't worry and relax, it'll be a good experience...the actual plane ride. Checking in and security is sometimes annoying. Oh yeah, sometimes it gets kind've cold, so you might want to get a light jacket just in case. Sleeping is also a favorite thing to do on board. Hoped that helped and have a great trip.

you shouldn't be scared, though some people are, and it is nothing wrong, i have flwen many of times... first time was when i was eight i used air jamaica, but my the first time i used conitnental, i cried the night before i left to gewt on it cuase it was hard for me to trust something new like that. yes you actually should chew gum to help your ears, cause when you go up in the plain it will hurt and so will coming down, you can also drink water or hold you nose and close your mouth blow real hard to make your ears pop, i was never able to do it.. it is too hard. though if you have braces don't chew gum .. do the other things. you might get sick... depends on the turbulance, and how old the plane is and also how crowded it is. you can listen to music , watch a movie if they put one on , read a book, magazine... crochet, and even probably braid you hair if no one is sitting next to you so you won't hit them. (giggling) i am not sure if you can knit, i knit so i want to do it. but i am no sure because knitting kneedles CAN stab and they might consider it as a weapon. also.. don't make ANY FEDERAL OFFENCES, REMARKS, OR COMMENTS.

It's really nothing to worry about. The only bits you might get a bit scared in are take off and when you get back down.

As you go up, your ears may pop due to the air pressure and chewing gum does help. So if you want to do that then go ahead, but if it's likely to make you feel sick then it's probably best if you don't.

You might get sick, but most people don't. If you do then don't worry about it, it'll get cleaned up and you'll know in future.

To keep busy I'd take some magazines or a book and read, listen to music, or play a travel game. There isn't really much to do on a plane but I usually stock up with loads of magazines and an MP3 player/walkman and wait.

Good luck :]
