I had this come up when I had my children .... and its the parents choice what the childs last name will be. Whether they are married or not the baby can carry either one of the last names or even both.

It doesnt matter if you guys are married or not! my sister baby daddy left her after finding out she was pregnant but the baby still has both of their names! the hospital told her she could pick any last name she wanted so it shouldnt matter with you!

If there is a father named on the birth certificate, the baby will have his last name, whether you are married or not. If you don't put the father on there, it will have your maiden name.

I'm not sure if the law is the same in all of the states, but here in Missouri you can name your baby whatever you want. It can have your last name, his last name, a combination of both, or one you make up. I was born in Texas (this was a while back), and since my parents weren't married I *had* to have my dad's last name. They might have changed that since then, but I'd just call the hospital and ask. (Ask for labor and delivery, and then ask someone in that department about the last name issue.)

I wouldn't give my baby my boyfriend's last name, just speaking from past experience. If anything, put both of your last names on there. Maybe hyphenate it. It's a huge hassle to change a baby's last name - and if you and your boyfriend break up, or he wants nothing to do with the baby, you're stuck with a constant reminder because your child has his last name. Not to scare you or anything I'm just saying think of all the options. :)

i know people who had their mom's last name then when their mom got remarried got their step dad's name. so if you guys are planning on getting married then just make it the fathers name but if you're unsure of your future together then just make it ur last name and whatever you pick you can always change the last name anyway. oh yeah and congradulations on the baby.

the baby can have either ur name or his. My godson was born in Feburary last year (weird isnt it lol) and his parents aint married and his last name is his fathers last name. When yall sign the papers put the name as his. Good luck with the baby.

Whatever you want your baby's last time to be, is up to you. You can pick which ever name you like for your baby to have even if you are married.

Since your not married then it doesn't have to have his last name. The baby can use your last name. My cousin had her first baby and she wasn't married but she has her daddy's last name. You can choose who's ever last name you want it to have.

You can pick whatever name you want. You should discuss it with your boyfriend if you're having a hard time choosing. But if you and you're boyfriend break up, then you're kinda screwed if you know what I mean, so I would probably give it your last name if you want to be on the safe side. But it's your choice!

Hope I helped

Don't stress sweetie! The baby can have which ever last name you choose, there aren't any rules that say it has to be his OR yours. I personally recommend that you give it yours, but think about it and don't let anyone pressure you.

The grandma's right. Decide with him which last name you want, but you're ultimately the one with the last word. Actually, I think it's possible to make one up if you can't decide...

Don't worry. You are the one who fills out the name on the birth certificate. Whatever last name you want your baby to have....he will have it. :)
