Good luck :] [ orphans's advice column | Ask orphans A Question ]

If you are able to take ibuprofen or aleve that will help with the inflammation (if you are not sure ask the pharmacist if it's the right medicaiton for you). You can also use "tucks" pads to wipe with, and apply a cold pack when at rest. If the pain is unbearable, it certainly warrants a vist to the doc for that reason alone. kristen22 answered Tuesday June 6 2006, 4:17 pm: How do you know that you don't have a yeast infection? Anyways, if you do, the bacteria thrives on warmth so hot water soaks could be making it worse in the long run. You need to treat the problem, which involves you going to the store and buying some monistat (off brands are way cheaper and work just as good) ok so assuming that you dont have a yeast infection, here's how to treat what you do have. A cream containing cortisone may also be used to relieve some of the irritation. Improved perineal hygiene is necessary to help healing and to prevent future reinfection for those whose infections are caused by bacteria normally found in stool. (So make sure your wiping from front to back NOT back to front!) Sitz baths may be recommended. It is often helpful to allow more air to reach the genital area. Wearing cotton underwear (rather than nylon) or underwear that has a cotton lining in the crotch area allows greater air flow and decreases the amount of moisture in the area. Removing underwear at bedtime may also help. [ kristen22's advice column | Ask kristen22 A Question ]
