when will it start?

Question Posted Friday July 8 2005, 5:02 pm

what age/grade will your friends start to act more mature, and start being more than just someone to laugh with. you know, when will it be easier to find that one true friend, cause i'm pretty young, and i dont think anyone is that mature enough that they are the kind of friend that will give you a shoulder to lean on when your sad, or you can call anytime just 2 talk, you know that kind of stuff. does anyone know what age>

There's no age at which everybody suddenly becomes mature. Some will be mature as children, and others can stay immature for their whole lives - Look at politicians!
It is important to have friends, but don't get too attached to them, unless they seem really special. I'm 17, and I still haven't come across much maturity.
There are people out there, it's just a matter of finding them, and you'll never find them without investing at least a little of yourself in the less mature friends. This doesn't go to say that you should ever accept insincere friends. "Friends" who aren't always your friend are usually in it for themselves. Don't get involved, I did and I'm still trying to work myself up to getting rid of them.
The best advice I can give you on this, is that you are your own best friend. You are the most understanding person you can ever meet, and as stupid and motivational as it sounds, it's important to love yourself more than anybody. Try not to be up yourself, just self-love will do fine...
Hope I was helpful
-K

Theres not one perticular age were people start to act more mature - people mature at different ages. For some they'll mature fast others it mike take a while to start acting mature. Hope I helped! In any case, though, a friend should always give you a shoulder to cry on.

xBestAddiction answered Sunday July 10 2005, 11:44 pm:
Well I found that one friend I can call at like midnight to tell about my guy problems and she is always there for me and stuff. We became best friends in 6th grade in middle school. I knew her since second but we never hung out untill 6th. So it just depends, everyone meets their bestfriends in all different places and different times.

MELiixMARiiE answered Sunday July 10 2005, 1:15 am:
Well there really is no age to whenever your friends will start to act more mature.. because theres still a few girls I know that act immature. As you get start to get older and go through things with people ; it just starts to happen. Like me and my friends, we've cried together, we've laughed together..we've shared really personal thoughts and I can trust them. But mostly people start to act more mature in middle school ; because you feel more grown up and you feel you should start acting a little more like it. Like me and my friends : we have moments where we act mature.. but other times, we just act so stupid and goofy.. but hey, that's what you're supposed to do with friends. So don't try to be completly mature. You have to be stupid and silly too =) You're young!! =) Hopep I helped!!

Love,
MELii

SmileLikeYouMeanIt answered Saturday July 9 2005, 9:04 pm:
well, I think it just depends on your friends. Some girls are really mature for their age. But I developed a really close relationships with my friends my Junior year in high school. We've laughed together, and we've even cried together. We share our most personal feelings and we all respect each other. So maybe you'll find a friendship like this sometime in high school. Girls seem to be a lot more trustworthy and caring when they are a little bit older.

im kinda in the same position...im pretty young but i do have a couple true friends (none of which are guys) that i can cry on the phone with without being embarrased. in the teens people should become more mature by actually losing the thing that everything that is funny involves childish acts...so yeah-all i can say is good luck and youll find some eventually.

I would say that in high school is where you really start to develop friends that are more meaningful to you. So, I guess that would be about 14 years old. Everyone starts to see who they really are so you'll be able to have friends who really like you for you.

hope this helps- :)

kitty_kat123 answered Friday July 8 2005, 5:34 pm:
I, personally, think it's fun to laugh with a friend but I know what you mean. The age my friends started being mature is about... 15. They start thinking that the stupid stuff is... stupid. Trust me... it's hard to find the ONE TRUE FRIEND. You can't shop around like finding an outfit. You have to be EXTREMELY close to someone. If you're friends with someone for a long time, you should be close, even through fights and stuff. Trust me when I tell you that friends are someone who you CAN laugh with but also, when you're having boy troubles or a family problem or something, they understand and try ANYTHING to help you out. That's what a friend is. You can talk to your friends and tell them how you feel and if they are true friends, they'll listen.
Best of luck!
Hope I helped!
