Alright. I'm fourteen-years-old and I'm a Freshman, this year, in High School; just to give you an idea of where I am, as far as maturing goes.
No one has ever really spoken to me about health and growing. And I suppose I'll end up learning about this in Sex Ed. but I figured I would get advice, now, anyways.
This afternoon, I started noticing a soreness on the sides and tops of my breasts. I'm not entirely sure what this soreness means or whether or not it's a good thing so that's where I need help.
Is it normal to have sore breasts? Do you get 'growing pains' as you mature, on your chest?
SouthernBarbieGirl answered Monday August 9 2004, 1:50 pm: Sweetie, that is totally normal. Usually when you get soreness it means your about to start your period or that you may be growin in that area.
Is there no one who can explain these things to you? j/w. If your 14 you should know about sex ad your body by now! If you have any other questions feel free to contact me and don't be embarrased! No one will no who you are!
alisonmarie answered Monday August 9 2004, 11:36 am: Have you gotten your period yet? If so, I would start writing down the way you feel on different days. Many girls and women get a soreness in their breasts for a week or two before their period.
This is quite common and nothing to worry about. Taking a small dose of ibuprofin (like Motrin), with your parent's permission, is often enough to help reduce swelling and help the ache go away. [ alisonmarie's advice column | Ask alisonmarie A Question ]
rockchik41 answered Sunday August 8 2004, 8:48 pm: yeah, that usually happens to me around the time of my period. sorry if that was too much info...but yeah, i'm just answering your question. it happens to me all the time. you're either about to get your period, or you're growing. either way, it's not bad. so don't worry!! sarcasticgal1221 answered Sunday August 8 2004, 12:14 pm: Its completely normal. Yes, they are growing pains. You'll also notice the rest of your body changing a lot over the next few years. Have fun bra shopping (that was sarcasm, bra shopping sucks ass).
xokristabelle answered Sunday August 8 2004, 11:58 am: Yes, it's just because you're growing. You may also get stretch marks (red lines around your nipples) if you grow fast enough, but these will fade in time. Also, many girls have pains like that before their period, so I think you're perfectly normal. [ xokristabelle's advice column | Ask xokristabelle A Question ]

LilMia811 answered Sunday August 8 2004, 4:16 am: yes there is a such thing as growing pains. some girls get pains when their chest ia developing. this is normal. as long as you dont feel any lumps you are fine. if it really bothers you try laying in a hot tub and relaxing. i am pregnant, so my breast are growing too, the same way yours are, and when my breast get sore thats what i do, it helps alot. hope you feel better. Siren_Cytherea answered Sunday August 8 2004, 4:15 am: Oh, that's totally normal. It means that your breasts are growing - either that, or it's part of PMS.
Could be both, actually. My breasts usually start to hurt about three days before my period.
But yes, you do get growing pains as you mature/grow in your chest area.
You have nothing to worry about. ^_^
