Well, if you have white specks on your nails, then that means, you have a nutritional imbalance. However, its ok, and it's pretty common. If you wanna cover it up, paint your nails (if you're a girl). However, you don't need to because they'll eventually go away as you grow up. People wouldn't really notice them anyway, so don't even worry!

There is two possible things these white spots could mean one is they could be telling you that you don't get enough calcium and the other is they could be a place where you banged your nail. hope it helps. please rate.

Yeah I get those too.. Basically they're just where you've hit or pinched your nail in something.. It's like a bruise only on your nail. Don't worry about it, they grow out and go away by themselves.

Hope I helped!

Michelley answered Wednesday December 29 2004, 1:11 pm:
Lack of calcium, take some calcium supplements or drink milk or orange juice or anything w.calcium and that should help them go away (*and not come back!) I don't really think I've ever gotten them but I remeber my friend getting one like in 7th grade and she put (*calcium enriched) nail polish on and when she took it off a couple days later, it was gone. I'm not sure but I think it was some type of Sally Hanson nail polish (*you can find it @ wal-mart)Probably any kind of nail polish that is supposed to strengthen your nails will have calcium in it..they're nothing to worry about tho!!

yes i have them, they are from having thin nails and they get damaged easily. hope this is what you are talking about.. its what i have anyway and my manicurist told me thats what they are from. they can be easily covered up with nail polish and they will eventually go away.

it has something to do with too much, or not enough calcium! they do go away eventually, like about a month or so.

A-reynolds-C answered Wednesday December 29 2004, 1:00 am:
They are bruises on your nails! They are caused from not being strong enough and not drinking enough milk! So drink more milk...and buff your nails.. and also they have this fingernail polish that makes your nails stronger... see if you can find any of that polish!
I hope this helps!

RainWindFireIce answered Tuesday December 28 2004, 10:28 pm:
I'm pretty sure it means your nails are unhealthy. You could try some of the products they have by Sally Hensen at your local drugstore and see if they help any to make the spots go away. Put more calcium and iron into your diet, too. Don't wear lots of nail polish, either.

I sometimes get them and it means that you are low on calcium or vitamins. Or if you hit your nail on something, it forms a white spot. It's nothing to worry about but once you drink more milk or orange juice, the spots will go away. Hope I helped :)

MakalahLea answered Tuesday December 28 2004, 8:29 pm:
Usually white dots or streaks on your nails is a sign of a calcium deficiency. It could be something else of course but if you want to test the waters increase your calcium intake and see what happens. Best Wishes!

P.S. I'm not a doctor so if you have any concern about increasing your calcium intake consult one before doing so.
