Hey Everyone :) I'm Kate and a level 2 mod on here. I've had this account since July 2004, so I've been on here since I was 13! Wow ... crazy for me to think how long ago that was. I will admit I don't check in as often as I once did, but being away at college, being in a sorority, and having a job when I'm not at school is very time consuming. I still try to help out as much as possible, and if you send me a question I WILL answer it. This site helped me a LOT when I was in high school and had a lot of questions, and I'm here to help anyone who needs it :) Feel free to write in my forum or send me a question any time!

My best friend & I have known eachother forever and tell eachother everything. She has always been against smoking - she thinks it's stupid and it smells horrible. The thing is, all her other friends smoke, but me. Recently, she has started to herself! She has actually given into the peer pressure and she never has before. I used to be so proud of her for standing up for what she believed and not smoking. Now, she's changing and smoking all the time just like her friends. How do I talk to her about this? I'm so disappointed in her but I'd do anything to get my old, brave best friend back.

She knows what she's doing is wrong, if she wants to stop, it isn't as hard as most people make it out. I used to be against drugs and all that, and I know it can kill you. My teacher found out about me and alcohol, and was telling me about how her friend died from it. She knows the risks she's taking. Just even if you can't drive, take the 'metaphor' out of this. Always be there, and be her designated driver, or be there for her when she needs to get to the hospital, just let her know that you're still there for her. I again will say, she knows what she's doing, and as long as she's careful it's going to be fine. I know this isn't what you want to hear, but it's true.

If you have trouble doing this, then tell her how you feel, and that you can't be friends with somebody destroying their lives, but most likely, saying that would make it where you 2 would no longer be friends. Tell her what you told us... I used to be so proud of her for standing up for what she believed and not smoking. Now, she's changing and smoking all the time just like her friends. my friend is being extremely annoying. most of our group of friends got into advanced 9th classes (we're in 8th) and she didn't. she constantly says she's stupid and we're all smarter than her, and that isn't true. (she was probably 1 point away from getting in advanced anyway.) whenever she looks at our books, she makes a face and rolls her eyes. now, i can understand why she's upset, but we all know and it's getting really old really fast. what can i tell her to stop this??

really, I know the normal response is to be nice, but I'd in a jokingly way, yet where they know that your serious, be like Oh shut up, For all we know you were one poit away, just joke around, but in the way where they know your not kidding

Hey, theres this girl in my pe class and I think she might like me. Well, I kinda like her too though. She acts kinda like it and gives me hugs sometimes and stuff and jokes around with me and stuff, and she seems like she always brings the topic of Homecomming up to her friend, lets call her Jenny. Anyways so she always says to Jenny that sits next to her when we sit on numbers for role call that she needs a date for Homecomming. But... I'm kinda scared to ask her to Homecomming because I don't know what to do.. I mean I know you go out to dinner and stuff and the guy drives the girl... but I don't have a car yet do I have my dad or mom drive us to the restaurant and then to the dance? I know to get her flowers or a corsage... ugh I don't know what to do! Someone tell me what to do about this and what should I get her and pretty much walk me thru the date! I mean like I could go with my friends or her friends because she says to her friend that all her friends are going to this fancy restauraunt with their dates and she wont get to go unless she has a date... so who drives and stuff? What do I do.... Help, I'm 14/m.

start out with just the dance

Make it a group thing, maybe add in somebody you know that can drive. If it comes down to family, do you have an older sibling (better than parents) if not, then resort to your parents. For my school, it's the big game, then right afterwords until midnight it's the dance, so it's not really that formal, just nice dressed. So I guess my advice won't be as good.

But go up to her, and say, would you and a few of your friends like to come with me and a few of my friends to homecoming? Or be like would you like to come with me (or meet me) at the dance. Don't make it too formal. And nah, it'd be easier to just go to the dance, then if you think you like her, ask her out.

Okay, Could you reformat that, are you saying your NOT ALLOWED to have a date, but a lot of guys are telling you I can't believe you have a date?? I'm sooo sorry, but I can't help if I don't understand what you are saying.

If I'm right about what your asking, then try asking out one of the guys or something. There isn't anything wrong with you, if anything is wrong with anybody, then it's something wrong with the guy.

14/f I wasn't sure what category to put this under. My brother's friends (17 years old) are quite horny but more so towards me. Last weekend I was getting a piggyback ride from one of my friends and 2 of his friends spanked me! Is this normal? I don't think they're gonna try anything on me because my brother would freak out. It doesn't bother me that much, almost at all. Should I be worried about this?

unless it makes you uncomfortable. Hey, I wish my older brother was only a few years older than me as opposed to 7 and a half. Cuz he doesn't live with us, so I don't get to see his HOTT older friends. If you are uncomfortable, then tell them. Unless you feel it's getting to much, appreciate it, they think your hot, and they're flirting!!

I have "microsoft works word processor" and I want to know if there is any kind of way on there that it will count all the words in my paper? because I need at least 1,000 words and it's impossible to count them all. Or does anyone know any kind of website that will count the words for me? I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks

well, mine is also the way that the previous answer was, if I go to tools, it'll have something that says word count, and I think they are pretty much the same things, if not, then sorry

It's completely normal, I have my e-mail activated only when people ask me something directly to my inbox, and the site has even e-mailed me, and if I check my inbox, nothing is there. It's normal, don't worry too much about it.

This may be kinda long, but I need to ask someone. I just started taking birth control pills 3 weeks ago. I think I may be pregnant but, I havent missed my next scheduled period. Since I just started taking the pill, that messes up my cycle for this month. I have other signs of possibly being pregnant. Being on my pills the nurse told me I should be getting my period around the 13th of this month. My boyfriend and I are very sexually active..in fact every night. I know we shouldnt do it, but it is unprotected each time. Is there a way that I could find out now if I could be pregnant..like take a pregnancy test tomorrow and find out? Im really nervous and want to know if I am now. I need to know what to do soon. Thanks.

go get a test. Your supposed to wait ATLEAST a month, but you SHOULD wait ATLEAST 3 MONTHS!

It only works if you do it correctly, so you are probably pregnant. Go to the health department with a friend or somebody your close to, and get checked out. Not to be rude, but BC only works if used correctly, and it sounds like in this case, it isn't being used correctly.

For anyone who actually reads this, thanks.Well, I had a boyfriend, we'll call him "Tod". We went out for about 3 months. Well, all these people were coming up to me and saying, "OMG!Are you going to be okay?!" Honestly, I had no idea what on earth they were talking about. So, I asked "Tod" and he told me that he kissed another girl on the lips! Me? Upset? Yeah, but I could deal with it.I told I didn't care. He told me that he couldn't stand to hurt me again, so he said it was over.Well, about 2 months later, he asked me out again, and I said yes. And just recently, we broke up. Everyone was telling me that he told them it was "another girl". This time, I had it with him. I was through with getting hurt because of his freakin mistakes when I didn't do anything to hurt him! So, I'm never going out with him again. But..I think that there might be "another guy" for me. We'll call him "Justin".He's one of my friends ex-boyfriends.They have been going out on and off like me and "Tod".And my other friends are telling me to not go out with him because she might get pissed at me.Well, first of all, I know she will, but I think I really like "Justin" and just the other day, I told him that I really like him. He told me that he really likes me too. But we're not going out. Yesterday, he was talking to my sister, and she asked him if he and I were going out. He said "yeah" and my sister said "since when?!?!". Then he said "since now". But I asked him if we were really going out, and he said he doesn't know! Well, I guess the only way to find out is ask him.

Tell him that your confused, that you feel kind of dumb, but you want to know if your actually going out. Chances are, he's confused too, so just talk to him, it'll be easier on the both of you.

Well I have a WONDERFUL boyfriend Joel (yes we're back together!!) And we've been together for almost a year, and sometimes I still sort of get feelings for other guys, like there are to really hot, really sweet guys that are friends with me and my sister, I've had feelings for them, but I know that I really LOVE Joel, and I wouldn't want petty feelings to get in the way

It's really just teenage hormones taking over, but make sure not to flirt, or atleast infront of a boyfriend, or hist friends.

My birthday is in the fisrt week of November, and I'm going bowling. The arcade is in the mall, and and so I'll pay for like 2 or 3 games, and for anything else they have to bring money. And then were going to go shopping!! Also there's a movie theatre, so we might see a movie.

I also like the limo idea, I realize you want a BIG party, but unless it's sweet 16, or 18, or one of those big important numbers, like YAY i'm a teen, or I can drive, or I'm and adult... don't really bother with the 3nd one, cuz thats too much for a regular birthday.

Those are some awesome ideas though. I'd love going to any one of those parties!!

how do u grow ur hair out fast?

Okay, this is what my hair dresser/styalist told me, If you trim the ends, even just a little bit, it'll grow. If the ends are dead and just stay there, then it'll take longer to grow out, but if you trim, it'll be MUCH MUCH faster

Hey everyone,

Well I have a football game Tomorrow evening and I am in the band and our uniforms are light blue, white, and dark blue. I have medium length blonde kinda curly hair. How should I do my hair for the football game? I was thinking of wearing it up like I usually do with a blue hair tie that has like little ribbons on it ((its hard to describe)) or pigtail braids with a blue one and another lighter blue one but, I don't know. Do you have any other ideas or anything.

well these are just my thoughts, but a high ponytail, not on top of the head, but not a low one.

Then if you have ribbons, then tie ribbon of your school colors around it. I like the colors, they're pretty, and they sound like they'd go good with what you're wearing, I also think the idea of pigtails would be cute. I guess I'm half n half.

If you're going for a young, girly look, then the pigtails (not young, but cute little girl... not a bad thig), if your going for a mature, I'm not a little girl, I'm one of the big kid looks, then the ponytail.
