Hi, I'm Laura. I'm a senior in college & I'm slowly deciding what I want to do with my life. I love Harry Potter, coffee, writing, and sleeping (amongst other things). A few thoughts I've gathered from my teenage years (and being on this site for most of them!):
1. If you Google song lyrics, the song will come up 99% of the time.
2. Dress to fit your body type, and buy the size that fits. If you're a size 6, squeezing into a 4 won't make you look skinnier. It makes you look fat when you aren't.
3. You will never regret waiting to lose your virginity.
4. There is such a thing as a stupid question, but we're all allowed to ask them.

As long as you're eating normally, your weight's fine.

If you're not anorexic, you have absolutely no need to go to rehab for it. Since your parents are obviously concerned about your eating habits, consider seeing a nutritionist or a coulselor a couple times. They may see something you don't.

when you go tanning do you lose calories when you sweat? hah its a weird question but just wondering. okay so i use to weigh 113 and now i weigh 128 and i just suddenly gained weight! i'm only 14 so why is this happening!? will it go away! what do i dooo!

Your weight's fine, unless you're two feet tall :) It's perfectly normal for you to be gaining weight at this age. If you haven't already, you're probably getting taller and/or "filling out".

Tanning often makes you appear slimmer. But please- do it safely. Sunscreen (reapply it often if you're swimming/sweating) and limit tanning beds as much as possible.

Is running a mile and a half in 13 min. and 48 sec. what you guys would consider good, average, or below average?

That's pretty good, yeah. That's just over an 8 minute mile, and the healthy fitness zone is under 13 minutes (for one mile) for most age groups.

So I say you're fine :)

I see it everywhere! What does DIY, and DIV mean? thanks=]

DIY, as I've always seen it used, means Do It Yourself. Home improvement projects and such, or making your own handbag.

DIV is a layout/HTML style that uses overlays and stuff. They're used a lot for myspace layouts that don't LOOK like a myspace page. Kinda hard to explain, though.

I don't think so.
But you could find a Converse-like shoe there, no problem.

I've seen Converse at Famous Footwear, Kohl's, Journeys, FootLocker, etc. Basically, any shoe store that sells name-brand shoes, like Nike.

About my Senior + Freshman Question,

i feel like its weird to say hi to him, like i know he likes me but im not 100% sure. Would it be weird if i waved? Cuz i know if i continuie to wave at him it will lead to talking which could lead to more...;)

I have a crush on a senior, i think he likes me.
We spoke likes a couple of times nothing serious.
I want to make it more serious and i think he does to, how do i do that? I dont have the guts to go over and say HEY WHATSUP! Like what should i do? The years almost over! Should i start with a wave?!!?!

Just walk up to him and start talking. Really, it's not as bad as it sounds. Start a conversation- did he have the same teachers as you? Ask him how hard finals were for Mrs. Armstrong's class, for example. Find out if he's free on Friday- if so, would he like to see a movie? Go as friends (unless he immediately suggests it be a date, of course!) and see where the conversation leads.

All I can say is, if you DON'T do anything, you'll really regret it. And it doesn't hurt to try, right?

Is this okay to do?I've always heard it's better to shave with warm-hot water,but whenever I do I get all cut up.I tried cold water today and there weren't any problems but I think I heard something about having a chance of getting ingrown hairs or something like this...

I think your biggest problem is that you'll get really cold. Whatever works for you, do it.

If you seem to be getting a lot of ingrown hairs, exfoliate throughly first and use a sharp razor. When you do get one, you can remove them with a bit of effort and tweezers.

okay i have an ipod nano, but i really want a pink 6g mini, but they don't make them anymore is there anyplace besides like ebay i can get one?

Good luck finding a 6GB. Apple made those for about two weeks.

You could have some luck finding a 4 gig though. Ask around- any store that buys/sells used iPods is bound to have one eventually. Be prepared for them to talk you out of it- they'll tell you the technology's obsolete, you could get a smaller, more compact design, better screen, etc.

I'll tell you right now that there will probably never be a better iPod made than the mini. It's pretty much indestructible, at least from my experience- I fell off the sidewalk after a Green Day concert, and threw my iPod across the rest stop parking lot. In my defense, I had been inhaling pot smoke for four hours. Later inspection revealed two tiny scratches and a small ding in the corner.

So yeah, definitely get a mini, if you can find one. You could also check with people who own them, but got a new one. I'm sure you could take it off their hands.

Almost any shirt would look good with those pants. Open your closet, close your eyes, and pick a hanger haha.

I think a dark pink shirt with a white tank top layered underneath would be really cute. But that's just my opinion. Aqua would be nice too.

Does toothpaste help get rid of pimples?

Yes, but sometimes it can dry out your skin TOO much. Use a tiny dab of a paste toothpaste (not a gel) and referably not whitening-it'll sting like mad.

Toothpaste is a good short-term, emergency fix. But it doesn't work for everyone, so I suggest investing in a good spot treatment.

Two I recommend are Clean&Clear Advantage and Clean&Clear PersaGel (but only if you're not allergic to benzoyl peroxide)

It's located near St. Vincent Hospital; not the greatest part of the city to hang around in the middle of the night. Definitely not the outskirts.

I'd consider it to be in the middle of Worcester. During the day, it's a great place to go. A lot of awesome concerts :)

OK well I asked you guys for pictures today..and I got my haircut...and its way too short. I hate it. & I dont have any money for extensions. Help!?! What can I DO!!

I'm sure it looks fine, you're probably not used to it.

Hair grows about a half-inch a month. So it'll grow out soon enough :)

In the meantime, find a new, really cute way to style it! Try a zigzag part, or see how it looks curled (with an iron, even if your hair's naturally curly). Try headbands or some other new accessory.

Also, straighten your hair if you have an iron. It'll make your hair a bit longer (even if it's mostly straight naturally) and will also make it smoother/sleeker.

Basically, playing hard to get is not like, hanging all over him 24/7. Flirting isn't out of the question, just tone it down a little. Act around him the way you would around any of your guy friends- leave him wanting more.

Try Kohl's too. I've gotten bras there for $8 or so, and they have TONS of cute patterns. I've seen polka dots there frequently.

Basically, any lingerie store should have a polka dot bra haha. Espicially those with large selections that cater to teenagers.

If all else fails, take a Sharpie or a bottle of WiteOut to an old bra you're sick of!

Laura's Own Pointers About Volleyball, from Personal (Humiliating) Experience:

1. Don't run away from the ball.
2. Get ready for some gnarly red marks on your forearms.
3. If you can't serve, learn. Hit the ball harder than you think you need to, otherwise you'll make a fool of yourself a lot.
4. If the ball's clearly going out of bounds, don;t touch it. Otherwise, it'll be your team's foul, not the other's.
5. Remember that you've got three hits to get it over. And you can't hit it twice in a row (without it going over the net first)
6. Don't be afraid to ask for help. Make an honest effort at tryouts, and don't let your nerves get the best of you.

Good luck/break a leg (depending on how much "acting" you'll hafta do Monday to be cool, calm, and collected haha).

Don't actually break your leg though. Then you'll REALLY have some problems playing volleyball, with crutches and all :P

well anyways i bought some red hair dye today, and my mom wont let me put it in.Wich(sp?) im sooooo pissed about.im sooo gunna put it in while shes out, but do you think its the right idea?

Ask her why she's so upset about it. She may be viewing this as growing up too fast, or teenage rebellion. Or she may have had a bad experience or two with boxed hair dye. Don't put it in behind her back. You'll destroy all trust she has in you.

Depending on the color of your hair and skin tone, red almost ALWAYS enhances your hair. If you're blonde- it's drastic, but it can be pulled off. Please, start with a temporary dye, like Color Pulse. You may absolutely LOVE it- in which case, feel fre to use permanent. If not, it's gone in two weeks!. Plus, keep in mind that red washes out anyways- especially from brown hair. So it's not as permanent a color as, say, black. But if you're naturally blonde, it'll take much longer to wash out - even if it's colorpulse- so make sure you're okay with the possibility of having strawberry-tinted hair for a fair amount of your summer!

Talk to your mom. In a normal tone of voice. Don't accuse her of "supressing your freedom" or "not letting you do ANYTHING". You won't get anywhere. A little maturity goes a long way. Show her the answers you get; reasons why she SHOULD let you. Promise not to use her best white towels for the dye job. Ask if she wants to help you (if she agrees)- it really helps get the back of your head if someone else is there.
