The battery is very bad, at a certain point in time the battery will cause problems and a bnch of this and that. the ipod mini's are easily scratched and easily dented when dropped. the screen is relly small, and it caused me a lot of annoyance. your better off sticking with the nano or maybe saving up for a video. but if u do still want the mini, i hope you find it easily. You could have some luck finding a 4 gig though. Ask around- any store that buys/sells used iPods is bound to have one eventually. Be prepared for them to talk you out of it- they'll tell you the technology's obsolete, you could get a smaller, more compact design, better screen, etc.
I'll tell you right now that there will probably never be a better iPod made than the mini. It's pretty much indestructible, at least from my experience- I fell off the sidewalk after a Green Day concert, and threw my iPod across the rest stop parking lot. In my defense, I had been inhaling pot smoke for four hours. Later inspection revealed two tiny scratches and a small ding in the corner.
So yeah, definitely get a mini, if you can find one. You could also check with people who own them, but got a new one. I'm sure you could take it off their hands.
