Hey Everyone :) I'm Kate and a level 2 mod on here. I've had this account since July 2004, so I've been on here since I was 13! Wow ... crazy for me to think how long ago that was. I will admit I don't check in as often as I once did, but being away at college, being in a sorority, and having a job when I'm not at school is very time consuming. I still try to help out as much as possible, and if you send me a question I WILL answer it. what's the best way to whiten teeth?
my pearly whites could use a little lightening and i'd like to know what you all find to be the best way so that i can have my teeth in ship-shape in no time, thanks!

Everybody is telling you about whitening strips, so here's something new. My dentist was telling us about how after we get our braces off, we might want to get something done to our teeth. There are things dentists provide that can help whiten your teeth, just talk to your dentist or orthodontis about it. There are strips, and there are trays, and there are these things that the dentist does. Ask your dental hygenist about it.

i am exactly 5 feet tall and i weigh between 94 and 97 pounds (my weight fluctuates(sp?)). is that bad?

I don't mean to sounds stupid, but I don't really know if that's good or bad. You should way around 100 - 105 pounds, maybe even 110. But I'm not really sure if the fact that it fluctuates(sp?) is bad. Maybe you should ask MFS or Storageanddisposable, or some other smart columnist, because I'm young, and don't really worry about anything to do with weight unless I start gaining a lot. This is one of those times where I'm just going to say ask somebody else that might know. The reason I'm putting this is because I don't like to reject questions. So, try asking somebody that might know.

ok first of all im not going to amifat.com or any website like that bcuz i dont trust them, i'd rather get advice from real people my age etc. so don't tell me to go to any website.

I've always been really skinny. People always think im anorexic and all my friends are like where do u put ur food? But i dont get my period every month probably because of it so i don't know how healthy my weight is. I'm about 5'6 and weigh about 103. Do YOU think thats healthy. Some of those crazy sites have told me it's not, and i wanna no what u think. thanx

Well, I had my physical on Wednesday, and I was looking at the weight charts, and I agree with the weight charts, and those crazy sites, that isn't healthy, you should get up to at least maybe 120. That sounds like it'd be a good weight, or at least a healthier one. There's more than one definition for anorexic, and one is when you're severly underweight, and you are close to it. Gain some weight kid!

I want to gain weight. No matter how much I eat, my weight doesnt go up. By the way, I am a vegetarian. Please suggest, whether there is any medication/tonic avaialble to gain weight.

Well, a lot of people have a high metabolism (it's when your body digests the food really fast, and so you don't gain a lot, and if it's slow, then it's when your body doesn't digest as fast, or something like that.) But a few of my friends have to take medicine for it, you'll have to see a doctor to get a prescription, and just to make sure it's your metabolism and not something serious.

What kinda of doctor would i go to so me and my mom can sit down and talk with them because we do not get alone anymore..We started fighting ever sience i got my new boyfriend! and we need help!

A family councilor. Or some type of psychologist, or psychiatrist. Some type of counciling person.

I have not been eating for about a week not because i feel i have no controll over anything and i am mad @ my self for always being grouned! Im am hurting myself by not eating!! Should i start eating again? I have lost alot of weight tho! Well, you aren't going to be ungrounded just because you don't eat. No offense, but that is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. When I was anorexic, it was for a serious reason. Eat! No wonder they're mad. You're boyfriend might get sick of dating you, and won't want to be in a relationship with a person starving themselves. My boyfriend broke up with me, and told me to call him when I started eating, that motivated me. Good luck with that, and EAT, don't stop eating just so you won't be grounded. That is really hurting your body, and it's the stupidest thing I've ever heard!!! Not to be rude, but you're an idiot! And I'm sorry, but I feel you need to hear this "Tough love" to realize what you're doing is stupid. Rate me a 1, rate me a 5, don't rate me at all, I don't care, I just feel you need to realize what you're doing is stupid, and I'm not going to be fully polite about this, because it's not a subject where you need to be told what you want to hear, it's something serious, and you're making a joke out of it. My friend does drugs.... i don't know if i should help her or not? What if she doesn't listen to me? help me please with my problem!

Talk to her. Check which drugs she is doing. If she's doing the really dangerous ones, and she won't quit, then tell somebody. If she's doing things like the lesser dangerous drugs, and she won't listen to you, then wait a while, try again, still won't listen, threaten not to be her friend, still won't listen after a week or two, then tell somebody. There are certain drugs that only disrupt your judgement for a few hours, so as long as this friend doesn't drive after getting high, and isn't doing one of the bad drugs, then things won't be too bad. But eventually if your friend won't listen, or is doing them behind your back, tell somebody. It just depends on the seriousness of the drug on when you should tell.

My boyfriend and I have been going out for 3 years... and in this 3 years I have always bought the birth control pills and condoms (i know about prescription plans but i couldnt get one until like now) I have always tried to get him to buy or help pay for it but he never does, or always forgets just recently i told him he was going to pay for the next batch of birth control pills i was buying and he got all mad, and said i should pay for it? Is that fair? I think since it is for both of us we both should pay and seeing how i have paid PLENTY of money that he should put in some money? What should I do to help him understand?

Tell him that you won't have sex with him unless he pays, or at the least pays for half. It can be some pretty expensice stuff after a while. Or you could let him be a jerk, and go pick up some free condoms at the local health department. Or that's what you can do. But you should make him chip in. If you threaten to not have sex until he helps pay, and follow through with that threat, then he will eventually either pay, or dump you. And if he chooses to dump you over something as stupid as this, then it is sooooo not worth it. You're with a jerk (not to sound rude) I mean, he's not a very nice guy if he's not willing to help pay. I mean, would he rather help pay the expenses of the birthing process, and the next 18 years of a very needy childs life, or just chip in for the darn birth control? Maybe you should re think the fact of the guy you are dating.

If you say your fourteen, yet you can't spell it, why not use numbers? But, I wouldn't think it unhealthy. A lot of people do it everyday. I'd think, ummm well I don't masturbate, so I don't know. Are you single? If you're in a relationship, have that person pleasure you. But if you're single, then I guess about 3 or 4 times a week.

im going out with this guy that goes to a different school. i see him only about twice a month and i dont think our relationship will last. is there anything i can do to see him more often because i really really like him.

that's how me and my boyfriend are. You only see him twice a month? My boyfriend lives about 45 minutes away, and I try to see him every weekend, and every once in a while he'll drive down to my house to see me. Usually we meet at a mall that's about the same amount of time from my house as it is from his. Talk to him on the phone before bed, on school breaks go to the mall together. Where were you when you two met? Hang there a lot with him. Good luck, my boyfriend is moving to SC, and since he's the only one out of both of us that can drive, half the time I'm paying for gas, and he's going to visit me every other weekend. I had a dream that my boyfriend's, mother's... boyfriend poisoned them and killed them. I woke up from that dream in my dream and went to see if it was true and it in my awaken dream, he really did die like that. I was crying and tossing. My parents heard me crying and tossing and turning. Then my dad woke me up and i was so relived it was a dream. The whole time though i was thinking, its just a dream call buck make sure he is still alive. When i woke up from both dreams called my boyfriend and he was alive. I have no idea, why i had such an awful dream like that. What do you think this is suppose to mean?????

Dreams are just things left on the concious before bed. Somehow you were thinking about him dying, or his mom's boyfriend killing them, and it turned into a nightmare. Dreams mean nothing, it's just what you're feeling before bed. Or if you ate something funny, then it could've triggered something odd, like when I eat cheese before bed, I get the craziest dreams.

Tell them how you feel. Or ask somebody to ask them, and then tell you. Most likely it just feels that way, but they probably aren't. I don't know you, and I don't know your friends, so I can't really tell if they're avoiding you. But, I can tell you, that if it feels like it, and you haven't been hanging out as much lately, than they might be avoiding you. Friendship isn't really my best topic, so sorry I couldn't have been much more help.

15/f... ive had my hair cut short for two years now! im talking no longer than three inches long all around. Well now I want to grow it out! any suggestions on how to do this QUICK or what to do with it while it's growing out? thanks!

Well, the only way I can think of is to trim your hair. If you trim it, then it'll grow faster. But if it's not natuarally straight, then straighten it. But that's all I can think of. Good luck with that, and sorry I'm not of much more help.

i hurt my arm the other day and it's broken... i don't want to go to a doctor.. what can i do to get it healed

The only way is to go to the doctor. Unless for some reason you already have an arm cast that perfectly fits your arm. Don't be stupid, go to the doctor!

how do u know if u have athsma. i think i do b/c i play sports & when we do conditioning after like 3 sprints i like cant breath i think its b/c my parents smoke alot & i have to be around it :-( can sum1 tell me how u know if u have it

The only way you can really tell is if you go to the doctors. You could have it, because the symptoms are there, and your parents smoke. But my dad smokes, and I have trouble breathing after running, but not after 3 sprints. Are you overweight? If so, that could have something to do with it. It's hard for somebody you don't know to diagnose you with asthma. Go to the doctors.

is it right to make love when there is no love?

Making love and just having sex, are so totally different. Making love is passionate, sex is just when you want to do something that feels good. In my opinon it's not, and I'd consider you a ho, or if you do it w/ more than one person, a slut. That's my opinion. You can have sex with whoever you want. Just make sure the other person knows you don't love him/her. I don't like the idea, but it all depends on what you think, and your beliefs. Now if you belived in God, and followed at least some of the Bible, then it would be wrong. See what I mean, it all dpends on your belifes, or what you think about it.

Hmmmm, that's a tough one. He didn't buy you anything? Not even a simple box of candy? Or a simple pair of socks, or anything? Well, I really don't know. Is it right to break up with somebody over that? That's all your opinion. I can't tell you to break up with somebody I don't know. Ummm, is he Jewish, or does he celebrate Kwanza, or one of those other holidays? That's a toughy. Do what you feel is right. If you really care for him, then you didn't waste your money. Maybe he's broke? Sorry I'm not much more help. I don't know if I'd ever break up with somebody over that. But it's all up to you. Depending on your definition of jerk. If you won't let you out past curfew, or he won't allow you to go out partying, or something like that, then he's being a good parent. But if he hurts you, or abuses you physically, sexually, or emotionally (calls you bad names) then it isn't good. And you should talk to your mom about it. If it's abuse, then you should talk to the police (only if physical or sexual) If emotional abuse, then you need to talk to him and your mom. Your mom should choose whichever choice has your best interests at heart. You need to make them realize you feel this way, and if they don't care, then call social services, or a family member, or somebody you can trust.
