about
Hello! I am studying esthetics at an Aveda Institute after spending years in retail. I am proof that nothing turns out how you think it will, and that's a good thing. When you think you've got it figured out, you don't. Life would be boring otherwise, right?Makeup, skincare, and psychology are my passions and I'm also happy to give advice on relationships, particularly for teenagers (so many things I wish I could have told myself a decade ago!) I'm happy to help fellow abuse survivors as well.
I'm a diehard SF Giants fan and also enjoy watching the Sharks and Niners. Addicted to music, especially The Gaslight Anthem. Oh, and my name is Krista. :)
advice
I saw this advertisement and it was for shards glass freeze pops and i dont know what is it so if someone could explain to me what it is and what it does and why it is so addictive that would be great
It's a joke ad, making fun of cigarettes. It's saying cigarettes are as good for you as eating shards of glass.
I haven't been catching up on the latest trends, so does anyone know what is "in" now as far as shoes, clothes, and accessories go?
Skirts, flats, basically old-fashioned kinda look. Lace, black, curly hair...look at magazines for more help.
What should I get my friend (13/f) for her b-day?
She likes happy bunny
She likes boyz
She likes fun stuff for her room
If you go to Kohl's or macy's they have really cute happy bunny nightshirts- I got my friend one and she loved it. Or look for a poster for a band she likes.
yeah everyone i know can dance and stuff but i cant any tips on how to start?
I assume you mean for school dances... Here are a few tips.
(1) Wear clothes you can dance in.
Kind of a duh...in other words don't wear a skirt unless it's a formal. Pants are sooo much easier to dance in...and avoid bulky jackets. Just a tee or tank will do. Or if you really need it a tight hoodie.
(2) Relax!
Don't worry- the majority of people aren't watching you. Be comfortable with yourself!
(3) Get inspiration.
Find someone who's a good dancer and watch what they do. Notice I didn't say copy everything they do, though.
(4) Look around you.
How are the people around you dancing? Are they jumping up and down? Dropping? Freaking? Make sure what you're doing is appropriate for where you are. (IE don't grind too much at a school dance)
(5) Just dance!
As cliche as it sounds, shake your booty! Up and down, bend your knees, move down and up, move your shoulders to the beat. Grab a friend's hands and go down and up slowly.
Hope I helped! Drop one in my inbox if you need any more help.
Does anyone know any great sites where I can find very very very very funny jokes or comics so I can get a good laugh?
www.zefrank.com
www.bored.com
Can anyone tell me any good websites for a 13/f to look at that don't need sound? I'm insanely bored a lot of the time, and I'd like to find some new intresting websites to look at. Thanks!
I love zefrank.com, it has a lot of cool graphics and games with no sound :)
Or try ivillage.com.

hi,
i've taken the whole am-i-fat testing and stuff from different websites, and they all say the same thing, that i don't weight enough. i don't have an eating disorder or anything like that. my doctor i guess knows about this, but hasn't really told me to do anything. so... what can i do? i eat until i'm full, and thats it. please don't say "eat more!". i'll rate you if you give extremely good advice, give extremely funny advice, or give extremely bad advice.
yours,
the thin one
Well, maybe you just have a very fast metabolism, but you can make yourself look a little healthier if you wish:
- Exercise to give your body a stronger look
- Drink milk shakes often
- Have frequent small meals
- Carry around Goldfish, nuts, or raisins for snacks
- Have dessert!
Clothes:
- Avoid head-to-toe tight clothes- you'll feel too skinny
- Wear tight jeans OR a tight tee, not both
- Feel free to wear bold prints and bright colors
- White jeans will make you look healthier
- If you really want to look less skinny, layer your clothes
However, remember am-i-fat is computerized. Only your doctor can tell you if you need to gain weight or not. And don't complain- most people would happily trade- it's much easier to gain weight than to lose it.
My mouths been so dry i dont know waht im going to do!!!!! its bothering me so much! i tried drinking lots of fluids and using this mouth wash for dry mouth and it doesnt seem to work! ive been sick lately and breathing through my mouth if that makes a difference..does anybody have any suggestions?? thank you!
If you go to the drugstore, there's a candy called AquaDrops you should try, they're about 99 cents and come in watermelon, citrus, and mint flavors. They worked really well for me.
If that doesn't work, I'd recommend seeing your doctor or dentist.
I have a problem finding jeans that fit me. I am 5'3", and 85 lbs. I have tried many stores, but most of them don't even have any size 0's that fit me. I have to wear juniors b/c my legs are long, but most jeans are too baggy. The only place that I have occasional luck is Kohl's, but most of the time they don't even fit me. Does anyone know a good store for people with skinny, long legs? Or could I get custom made jeans cheaply (i'm guessing not). Please help me, I rate 5's!!!
Some stores (Limited too is the only example I can think of, but that's little girl clothes) have Slim sizes- like 8 Slim, 2 Slim, etc. Just shop around, ask some of your friends, maybe try Abercrombie or Target.
how do you know if someones telling the truth, or living a completly different life then they lead you to belive??
Most of the time you can't. Maybe if you look at their eyes I guess....They have books about that kinda thing though, if you really wanted to I recommend Lies and The Lying Liars Who Tell Them, by Al Franken (I think that's his name).
how does a girl in high school become popular?
Well, like everyone said, it's not really that important. Don't let it take over your life or anything. But if you really want to know....
The first step is looking good. I'm not popular but when I got a haircut that was cute some popular girls complimented me on it. Look online for some haircuts you like, print out the pictures, and bring them to your salon. Maybe do highlights at home (I like L'oreal feria) if you really want to look different. Go shopping with someone whose style you admire- again, the compliment factor. Also, make sure you're wearing the right makeup for your face- go to a Clinique counter (at nordstrom's or macy's) or a Flirt! or American Beauty counter (at kohl's) for help on that.
Ever noticed how on the first day of school, even if no one they know is in the class, "that girl" has a partner for the first project? The key to that is to be friendly and approachable. Unlike guys, girls tend to talk to someone if they're with a small to medium group of friends- somehow it's harder to talk to loners. If no one you know is in your class, don't panic. Find someone who looks friendly and start up a convo- maybe ask who her english teacher is or compliment her. Do this a couple of times so you have backup friends (lol). Smile and laugh a lot and accept everyone.
Finally, once again, don't let it take over your life and don't ditch your old friends.
Okay.. me and my friend have this lil problem... we are trying to decide what to do for the talent show ... we are chosing between broadway and disney... we;re afraid to do briadway becasue we did a briadway in concert thing in the fall.. and my friend is afraid that our music teacher and out administraitor will get mad... but im not so sure... what should we do? any ideas?
Broadway, but make sure it's appropriate. The musical "Chicago" would work well. You don't need the original broadway, just the movie soundtrack.
If you're dancing, make up a routine to "Hot Honey Rag" or "I Can't Do It Alone". (Watch the DVD for inspiration- hot honey rag works well for two people and you could add veronica kelly's role to i can't do it alone)
If you're singing, sing "Nowadays" or "Funny Honey", or "Roxie".
If you're acting, do "Roxie".
If you're playing an instrument, do "Roxie" or "And All That Jazz".
Hope I helped! Try to avoid Disney, it's a little cliche.
hello everyone.... jsut wodnering but what are how are you actually suppost to clean your vagina, and what with? and no not the feminine wipes i am tryign to avoid that humiliation
Actually, you don't need to. That's what discharge is for. :)
BUt if you smell bad "down there", just use a TINY amount of soap.
Do you have to be a certain age to start Wicca? For Wiccans out there, what is a good way to start? Are there any things you need? PLease answer, It's important. thanx
No, any age you want. I'd recommend checking out some books and websites- I recommend the book Teen Witch and the website Wicca.com. All you need is your belief- the witchcraft part of the religion is optional. Here's some basicinfo:
http://www.wicca.com/celtic/wicca/wicca0.htm
Wiccans believe in a god and a goddess who control the earth.
We don't believe in the devil- its more of a karma system.
Wiccans are not devil worshippers!
The magick part is total optional.

Q. Who do Witches Worship?
A. There is a single power defined as the One or All, which is composed of everything it has ever created. This supreme energy force does not rule over the Universe, it IS the Universe. Since most find it difficult to talk to or call upon a faceless mass of Divine energy, this supreme power is personified into male and female aspects as the Goddess and God. This simply makes the concept easier for the human mind to comprehend and relate to. Some take this concept a step further and use actual names, like Astarte, Isis, Odin, Pan, Dianna, Cernunnos, etc., when invoking the Goddess and God. In the end, it is a personal preference and what a Witch uses depends on what "feels" right for them individually.
Q. How do Witches view Christianity. Are Witches Anti-Christian?
A. Not necessarily. Witchcraft, overall, is very tolerant of other religious views, and does not engage itself in criticizing the beliefs of other people, providing that their beliefs do not violate the basic tenant of "Harm None." Witches do object to religions that attempt to suppress the religious beliefs of others, or every human's right to seek spirituality in their own way. This is why there is a slight rub between Wiccans, Pagans, Witches, and some Christians. Many of them feel they have exclusive rights to the divine. We also have a strong disdain for those who use religion as an excuse to commit mass genocide. The "Burning Times" are a clear historical example of one religious group attempting to exert its philosophies and beliefs upon others using extreme measures.
Perhaps an over simplified way of describing our view is this: Imagine a beautiful meadow in the forest, and their are many paths leading to this meadow. It really does not matter which path you take to get there, the important thing is that you get there without harming anyone or anything along the way.
Q. Do Witches worship the devil?
A. No. Satan, or the Devil, has absolutely no place in Wicca or Witchcraft. The worship of Satan is the practice of profaning Christian symbolism and is thus a Christian heresy, rather than a Pagan religion. The Goddess and God of the Witches are in no way connected to Satanic practices. Satan, or the Devil, is a Christian creation and they are more than welcome to keep him.
-------------------
Just so you know, you'll probably get a lot of rude comments like "you're going to hell" or something. Don;t worry- you won't. Wiccanism is a normal religion with a bad reputation. just rate those people 1s and move on.
A Valentine Dance is coming up and I'm nervouse to ask someone out. I usally give advice, but now I need some one to help me ask a girl out.
Nervouse
Find out where she hangs out and be around there. If you know she doesn't have a date, bring her flowers and just ask her. get it over with! She might even think it's cute that you're nervous...Good luck!
13-F! Tommorrow there's a dance at my town, I'm thinking of goin and need some help. How can I do my make-up? How can I do my hair?(A few inches below my sholder.) And what to wear? I'm thinking jeans and a white tee or tanktop. By the way* My crush is going to be there and were both single and how can I get him to know I want him?
Well, if your crush is there you wanna stand out, so I'd skip jeans and go with regular pants instead. The best outfit I've seen for a dance is a black tank top and red Dickies pants. Make sure you're wearing red or pink, studies have shown that guys notice those colors the most. If your crush is taller then you, go for sandals with a small heel- otherwise, converse are always cute. If your hair is curly, straighten it- otherwise, just add a little styling product (I like Garnier Fructis Smoothing Milk, about $4, available at drugstores at Walmart).
For your makeup...brown or dark grey eyeliner (not black, too dramatic and scary), brown mascara, maybe a little blush. Subtle shimmer copper or gold eye shadow on your eyelid, and some sort of lighter shimmer on your brow bone. For lips, go for a neutral color 1 shade darker than your lips, maybe a warm pink tone.
Bring a small wristlet pack and pack:
- A lipgloss
- Eyeshadow palette (2-3 colors)
- Oil blotting sheets
- $5 (secured with a bobby pin and hair tie)
- 4 quarters
- Cell phone if you have one
- A pad or tampon (just in case)
- Gum and/or mints
- one of those compacts that has a mirror and a brush
I have been having this problem for quite sometime. I am a cutter. And i can't really stop. I have been going to counseling and I had been taken off antidepressants. My mood hasnt gotten any better, it feels alittle worse. Parents are no help, my dad thinks that I am doing this for attention and he yelled and screamed at me saying that I am faking everything and its just a waste of money to keep the counseling going. So now, I am not in that anymore. I feel terrible, worse possibly. And my freind who I have known since the second grade is going through problems, she is cutting herself and trying to kill herself. I have been trying to give her advice but, how do I give advice to someone who is doing the same things as me? I need some major help and someone to talk to.
Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry you have to go through this. I'd recommend seeing a school counselor- they're free- or calling a hotline.
I'm a former cutter so I know what it's like- if you need help my AIM screename is andallthatjazz71
what is a good way to ask a heavy metal guy to a prom?! and when should i ask him cuz our prom is in may.
Get to know him better and don't ask around his friends. That, and what everyone else said.
Ask him in the beginning of may.
This is mostly to the females out there: What is the most romantic- meaningful gift you've ever received?
A poem or a written mushy letter is always great.
My friend's boyfriend wrote a poem about her and threw it in the ocean with a note wishing whoever found it the same good fortune and love in their lives. (He saved a copy of the poem for her)
If you don't have writing skills, perfume is nice- you should pick one out yourself so you know you love the scent. Then compliment her while she's wearing it. Or jewelry- like one of those chain necklaces that have a heart charm and initial on it. Or a ring. Or a spa gift certificate. Or concert tickets for a band she loves. Get the idea? Personal and unique.
my friend has been cutting her wrist now for a few months. im so worried about her and she wont stop. she is definitly going to kill herself if she doesnt get stopped. i cant tell on her because i trusted her not to tell on me when i used to cut but now its totally different. i see how it is when your friends life is resting on your hands. i want to tell but i dont even know who to tell. PLEASE HELP.. IM BEGGING YOU!
xoxo -concerned friend- xoxo
Listen, I used to cut. I know you're concerned, but put yourself in her place. If you think she's suicidal, then talk to your school counselor or a trusted adult. Otherwise, leave it be. She'll stop eventually. Cutting has nothing to do with suicide- it's just a way of relieving stress. Personally, I see nothing wrong with it, but that's just me. If she's going to kill herself or she's leaving huge marks (like patches of skin gone), then yeah, get help. But if that's not happening, getting adults involved will just have a negative effect.
