eycandy answered Monday February 7 2005, 4:23 am: When i was in grade school i was outside playing as a car drove up with a man and a little boy inside. The boy got out and I could see that he was one of my classmates. He approached me with something behind his back. He then handed me a fire rock. It was the size of two fist and probaly the prettiest rock I've ever seen. It meant so much to me because it was from his heart and he had his daddy drive all the way to my house to give it to me. Basically its the thought that counts. Don't give a dozen roses when u can give one, don"t pass dandelions without picking her some. [ eycandy's advice column | Ask eycandy A Question ]
Melanie4981 answered Friday February 4 2005, 8:08 am: The best gift (and memory!) I was ever given was a star. My ex-fiance bought me a star for my 21st.
He didn't give me anything on my birthday when I woke up except a little envelope with a cartoon star on the front and a card saying all will be revealed.
He picked me up from work at 8pm and took me to a Country Park where he had laid out a picnic for us with candles and champagne and all my favourite foods, then he got a telescope out of the back of his car and trained it on the star he had bought me and explained he bought me a star so that wherever he was in the world he would be both be able to look up and see my star!!
We also saw saturn that night - it was the best memory I have - ever!
It doesn't matter what you buy or how much/little it costs as long as you put thought into it then your partner will love it, although one thin I will say is that women love mystery!!
Try and keep her guessing!!

chaos answered Wednesday February 2 2005, 9:05 am: My favorite was the very first box of candy I received from a boy for Valentine's day. It was a little Whitman's sampler with just 4 pieces of chocolate. I was in 6th grade, and he was in 4th. I had befriended him because nobody else talked to or understood him. He was a really smart guy. I think he later got a full ride scholarship to John Hopkins. I haven't seen him since he dropped by my college for lunch one day. rainbowcherrie answered Wednesday February 2 2005, 4:54 am: My ex boyfriend had broken up with me on the last day of term before christmas, I was absolutely devestated. A couple of days later, it was Christmas Eve and our group of friends, including him, were meeting up. Me and him were basically ignoring each other until we all decided to go back to my house. We started flirting and eventually he asked me back out, of course I said yes and we kissed. That was definitely the best present ever.
Another good one was when another ex got me a necklace from a castle. It was the tackiest, most hideous thing I've ever recieved and it probably only cost a few pennys but it was still special at the time. I had never recieved a present from a boy before, I don't know it just meant something. Now I hate it.
The best presents come from the heart, it's not about money and how much you spent on it or how much it's worth. It's about how much effort you put in to getting it, how much it means to the reciever, how much it means to both of you. Sure, girls love expensive jewellery but it usually has no sentimental value unless it has some sort of inscription on it. It's the small, heartfelt, romantic things that count. selectopaque answered Tuesday February 1 2005, 10:11 pm: A kiss on the cheek.
My ex was four hours away in college, I got online to talk to him and he told me that he would be working on some art homework all night and couldn't talk. I then fell asleep in my living room, and woke up to him standing over me giving me a kiss on the cheek.
A black rose.
I've always wanted a black rose, even though they don't happen in nature. My ex found one made out of feathers. I still have it on my wall.
13 roses.
It was meant to be a dozen, but the order was messed up and I ended up with 13. It was our lucky number.
A painting of "Lady Jessica in front of a Waterfall" (my name is Jessica)
It was a beautiful watercolor painting that he made me and gave me for a birthday.
A video tape of him opening my valentines day present. He showed emotion when he opened things and read things. It made me think that he missed me dearly and loved all the little geeky things I got for him.
You should make something very meaningful in order for it to be memorable. You do not need to talented in art, you just need to make something cute and meaningful. I forgot my "retarded frog" that I got one Christmas. I call it the retarded frog because no one really knows what it is. It was his first attempt at sewing something. I loved it and still have it in my room.

MakalahLea answered Tuesday February 1 2005, 9:39 pm: A complete night of relaxation. A massage, followed by a soak in a nice warm bubble bath with classical music playing in the background. After I got dressed again, dinner was waiting on the table (my favorite dish), a bouquet of stargazer lillys was in the middle of the table (roses do get old) and a gift wrapped box was on my plate. It contained a key. After dinner we got in his car, drove out to this cute cabin in the Shenendoah parkway that is part of a lodge there, and the key opened the door to the most beautiful cabin I had ever seen. There was a fireplace in front of the bed, huge windows, a deck and a beautiful hot tub in the bathroom. When my husband got the fire going (this was around Valentines, rather cold up there) it was a beautiful scene.
xokristabelle answered Tuesday February 1 2005, 9:37 pm: A poem or a written mushy letter is always great.
My friend's boyfriend wrote a poem about her and threw it in the ocean with a note wishing whoever found it the same good fortune and love in their lives. (He saved a copy of the poem for her)
If you don't have writing skills, perfume is nice- you should pick one out yourself so you know you love the scent. Then compliment her while she's wearing it. Or jewelry- like one of those chain necklaces that have a heart charm and initial on it. Or a ring. Or a spa gift certificate. Or concert tickets for a band she loves. Get the idea? Personal and unique. [ xokristabelle's advice column | Ask xokristabelle A Question ]

HellsBells answered Tuesday February 1 2005, 9:26 pm: My bf is taking me to the West End (London's Broadway) to see The Lion King tomorrow and we've got a suite in a flashy hotel. Other than that, he bought me a book (albeit a murder mystery) I'd always wanted and wrote messages all the way through in the margins. That was nice. Anything that shows thought is always good. I don't know what kind of answer you were looking for but hey, I hope it helped!!! :O) [ HellsBells's advice column | Ask HellsBells A Question ]
