Q: This will be long and I apologize, but it's a long story. I have good grammar, I promise. :] (and yes, this is about a guy)
Me = 18/f
Him = 17/m
Ok, we'll start 2 years ago where it all began. His name is Drew and I forget how I met him hahah. But we had lunch together and we slowly started liking each other. We would feed each other french fries and flirt a lot and everyone kept saying "Why don't you guys just go out?" and we'd just look at each other and laugh. We had an AIM conversation in which we basically told each other we liked each other and he asked me to the Snowball. As it turned out, they cancelled it. :[ And nothing else really happened that year, except the same old flirting. At this point, he usually wore a black t-shirt and jeans and had a longer haircut. Not a lot-long, it was above his shoulders and kinda wavy.
Now we get into last year. I hadn't talked to him all summer and when I came back to school, I was surprised to find that he cut his hair short and kinda spiky and dressed completely preppy. I didn't talk to him much during the first couple of months. Then Homecoming was coming around and I know guys are supposed to ask girls, but I ended up asking him, because we sort of starting talking again (as in saying "hey" in the hallway and stuff). But he already had a date. Obviously, I was a bit crushed and ended up just going w/ 4 of my friends. I got to talk to him once during the dance and got a cute pic of him, but then I left to go hang out w/ my friends. We went out in the courtyard to hang out and eat popcorn and I started crying and saying how much I wanted him. Pathetic, I know, but it was how I honestly felt. After that, we hardly talked much the rest of the year. He was hanging out w/ a different group of friends, but we still had the occasional "hey" in the hallway.
Now the most recent and confusing paragraph hahah. This is this school year. Again, we didn't talk much during the first few months. At the time, I had a boyfriend of 4 months, but we broke up because he told me he was bi, and I wasn't comfy w/ that, if you know what I mean. I'm not a homophobe if that's what you're thinking, it was just weird dating him after that. So almost as soon as I broke up w/ him, I went out w/ another guy, but it didn't last long. I also requested to be Drew's friend on myspace, but we never commented on each other's profiles or anything. Then, out of the blue, he sent me a comment saying "This might sound weird, but I actually kind of miss you". Cute, rite? So we started commenting back and forth and he gave me his number and told me to call him. I did, and for not talking in practically forever, it wasn't awkward at all. He even started talking about the past and how he wondered if we would have dated, had the dance not been cancelled. He got kind of excited and was like, "You wanna go out now?" And we started laughing and then we're like, "Wait, we just started talking hahah". So after that, we texted nonstop for 3 days straight and it was really nice. He told me he had a number of crushes, but that the biggest one was me. I thought maybe we had a chance to go out. Then we started talking about going out and he said that there was only one thing holding him back. And it was because of my friends. A couple of them are gay (a guy and girl) and some are kind of annoying (I'm not the most popular person, but I do love my friends hahah) And he said that his friends made fun of my friends sometimes and he was afraid of what they would say if he went out w/ me. Kind of egotistical rite? Like I said, he had a different group of friends now who were more popular and I guess it got to his head. It pretty much pissed me off, but I didn't say anything, just that I understood. But after that, we stopped talking again. Except when he saw me in the hallway, he would always smile and say "hey". And we gave each other the occassional pic comment on myspace (He always said I was cute and all). That was around December. So from December until the end of April, we would sometimes say "hey" in the hallway and have the occassional nice times when we got to talk for a little bit, like at the school musical (He was in it, and I was an usher w/ some of my friends). Then prom came around (May 4). Near the end of the night, he asked me to dance (I was ecstatic hahah but didn't let it show). It was really nice, but then he had to go, so he gave me a hug said good-bye and smiled. A couple weeks went by, in which not much happened.
Now the final phase of this question. A little less than a week ago, I had a dream about him. To keep it short, at one point, he asked for a hug, so I hugged him and he gave me a kiss on the cheek (a very nice one, I might add ;]). I flipped out, once I woke up and discovered it was only a dream. And now, ever since then, I've been going crazy. It's like my feelings for him exploded, like an exponential growth, if that makes sense. I've been going crazy this past week, crying when I think about him. It's so bad. I have no idea what to do, and even prayed to God about it (although I've got no answer yet). Saturday night, though, we had another "moment" if you want to call it that. I went to the chorus concert, because a lot of my friends are in it. I came in really late, because of work, so I ended up setting against the wall in the back. I watched him and I almost started crying and I couldn't stop shaking. Once it was over, I went backstage to find my friends. I saw the usual, gave them hugs, and told them good job and all. Then Drew saw me and gave me kind of a half-hug and said hi. I went to talk to my friend Sam after that. He came back and hugged me again. And then he said it wasn't long enough and that we would have to do it again hahah. So we hugged a third time and started talking again (needless to say, I can't remember a THING we talked about). So then he left for a bit and came back wearing a viking hat w/ blonde pigtail braids on it. Being weird I guess. So I was like, "Wow.. that's attractive." So we laughed for a bit, but I had to go, so he hugged me again (:D). Today, I had finals, so our schedules were all screwed up, and I never got a chance to see him.
I casually commented him today about the viking hat, and he was online at the time, but never commented me back. :[
So of course, I'm very sad right now. My mom and friends think I might be in love, but I think that's a strong word. All I know is, I REALLY like this boy. It's killing me knowing I'm not w/ him right now. I'm freaking out. I graduate next Thursday. Tomorrow is my last day of finals and Wednesday is the senior's last day of school. I'm afraid if I don't do something now, nothing will ever happen. I'm afraid of not seeing him ever again. I feel like I can't live w/o him. I don't know what to do. I'm afraid if I tell him how I feel, he'll either not say anything back, or reject me, which I know I can't handle. I can't tell if he likes me or not. I'm pretty sure he does, from the way we texted back in December and some of the things that he said. But he's sending me mixed signals and I have no idea what to think or what to do. Please help me, I don't know what to say to him or what to do. And he's REALLY FREAKING CUTE!! HELPPP!!!
Thanks in advance, sorry this was so long, but I feel like I needed to tell you everything in order for you to understand more. :/ I know I've left things out, but it's long enough already. If you need more info, let me know.
Signed,
Lost and Confused. :/

Nice grammar.
Alright. My answer doesn't really flow with your entire question, so maybe you can put it all together. I would like to start off by saying that if you tell him how you honestly feel about him and he rejects you, then he obviously wasn't worth it. What kind of friend would be completely shut off by that? If his reaction is a negative one, then don't put anymore thought into it and let go.
Since you are a year older, is it safe to assume that he is going into senior year? I don't know how far you would be going to college, so that would make things difficult in itself. You really can work around it, but its going to take a lot of commitment from both of you to make things happen.
I'm sure someone else before me said it, but you need to tell him how you feel. If you don't, you'll keep wondering for the rest of your life what could have happened if you just told him. So tell him. Don't be afraid to, because you know that you would want him to tell you if he liked you. Ever think that he might feel the same way and not say anything because he's afraid to? There is nothing wrong with taking that first step. And if he doesn't respond well to it or feel the same way, then its his loss.
By the way, what kind of signals are you sending? Whoever decided to list them or post them on Google wasn't taking everything into consideration. Part of the equation might be to figure out what signals the other person is sending off...but everyone always overlooks what kind of signals they are sending too. I'm not saying you send the wrong signals, but be careful not to send mixed signals because that might make him feel distant or more afraid to say something if he feels the same way. Don't focus on signals, because, especially for guys, its not how it always works. Maybe mixed signals represent that he has mixed feelings? Thats why you need to tell him. It will take a lot to get a relationship going if that is what you are interested in. To be honest, if you are looking for long term, then I wouldn't get your hopes up too high.
I don't want to sugarcoat things, but why did you spend months not talking when you could have just been regular friends. You could have gotten to know each other more and really see if what you feel for him is real. You were right in saying that love is too strong a word. No I'm not doubting that what you feel is strong, but I don't see how you have both been through enough together - both good times and bad times - to call it love. ..at least if its there it isn't completely mutual. They say they are your friends because you've spent great times together, and best friends because you've gone through hell together. Tell him how you feel but don't be afraid of his reaction. If he doesn't feel the same way or responds, then just let go of it. If he can't accept you at that point in your friendship, then how can things develop into something further? Think things through and don't hold back - a quiet tongue is the quickest way to a heavy heart. Hope that helped and good luck.

Give it about 8 hours to fully charge. Make sure that when you plug in your iPod, it has the most recent updates.
Run a simple test: set a song to play on repeat after the full charge over and over. Mark down the time you start, and make note of when it stops. If it does not last more than 6 hours on play, then call the company and see what they can do. If you have the protection plan, they will replace the battery for you. If you don't...well then you'll have to call and find out. Hope that helped.

Not true. Nobody knows when and if the apocalypse will take place. Since the beginning of measurable time - calendars commonly used - there have been thousands of dates chosen as the end of the world, most recently 06-06-06. But its May of 2007, and we are still here. No worries.

Q: i'm married to a man that i do love and care for my marriage is great and yes i'm happy with him, but sometimes its very tirering when you can't really be free.example: he might say something i will respond with a sarcastic answer with that he will take personally and try to turn it as if i ment it seriously, when it wasn't "get it".
here goes my question:
can a person be that up tight in the mist of a sarcastic statement or joke to not find the humor in it? can a marriage last or be stressfree ever with out a little humor?

Talk to him about it. If you generally throw out sarcastic statements, then tell him to be ready for it. Ask if he would prefer that you don't. I understand where he is coming from. First, you have to see what mood he is in before you make the comments. Maybe you could even try to make your comments obviously sarcastic, so that there is no doubt that you were only joking. He might take everything his wife says to heart - which can be a good thing sometimes - but, he might feel inferior if he gets it more often than not. Make sure that you let him know you aren't putting him down or think he's bad, that you simply were joking around and meant no harm. Ask him what he wants you to do. If he makes a sarcastic comment, don't explode at him for not letting you do the same...he just might be a bit more sensitive and not pick up on the sarcasm as easily as you might. Give it some time and definitely talk to him about it. Hope that helped and good luck.

Q: Last night was my first kiss. I was hanging out with a group of my friends and everybody went home except me and this guy I've liked for a while. We sat in his car listening to music and talking for a while, and when I got out of the car, he commented that he didn't need to be home for 5 more minutes (we were just up the street from his house). I asked if that was an invitation, and he said that depended on whether I was interested or not. After a few more minutes of playful banter and me almost leaving again, he finally shut up and kissed me. This is with 2 minutes left on the clock. There was tongue involved, there was necking, it was very nice, but only two minutes long. When we broke for air I said to him "time's up" and he pulled me close and asked how late I wanted to make him. There was some more playful banter, but nothing else happened. I really like him and certainly wouldn't say no to a relationship, but I'm a hormonal teenager and he's a good kisser. Does this fall into the "friends with benefits" category and if it does, how do I bring up doing it again? We have never been on a date before and we used to be really close, but we don't have any classes together this semester so I don't talk to him very much anymore.

Wow this is actually a decent relationship question. Lets see...
Don't rush into a relationship. Chances are that if you do, it will just as quickly fall apart. Continue to be good friends and just get to know each other more. In terms of getting in touch with him, try to meet up on weekends or on off-time, talk over the phone, or even chat online.
I don't think this falls into the "friends with benefits" category, yet. I wouldn't suggest meeting up just to make out or do stuff together, because it could easily turn into that...if thats what you are trying to avoid. Let the moments happen on their own, and don't push for them because either or both of you might get hurt.
Maybe I missed your message, and you do want it to be a "friends with benefits" kinda relationship. I guess you could just go for it - to me, it doesn't seem like most people sit down and discuss that; in other words, they just let things happen. If you're looking for a relationship, then hold off just a bit. Even if you aren't sure yet of what to do, keep talking to him and try to be closer friends. Time will tell where your feelings and thoughts lay. Good things come to those who wait - hope that helped and good luck.

If you want to do a mass transfer of just all of your music on the iPod to your computer, then do the following:
Enable your folder options to view hidden files. Once your iPod is plugged in, open the hard drive of it on your computer, and open the transparent folder that says music. Depending on what iPod you have, there will be 50 folders or less, each containing songs or videos. Copy and paste that into a folder onto your computer...not the folders, but the actual songs in the folders - so yes you have to open all of them and copy and paste.
If you are looking for specific songs, then you might want to use a program for that. Go to www.downloads.com and search for the program 'copypod' and download that. It works pretty well, and good if you want to transfer only specific songs. Hope that helped and good luck.

I've tried it and it works great. It makes different searches than spybot and ad aware, but worth the money. It did point out something other programs failed to catch: viewpoint. If you have installed AOL or AIM onto your computer, then chances are you have it. XoftSpySE manages to temporarily remove it from your computer, but only because it reinstalls itself on after a restart. I published an article on how to remove it if you are interested:
http://www.wikihow.com/Delete-Viewpoint-Spyware
I like XoftSpy because it gives you details about the adware, spyware, and tracking cookies that were found in your computer. It also gives you a label as to whether or not the risk found is low or very dangerous. I recommend it, because before using spybot and ad aware, it really did speed up my computer. Whether used alone or in addition to the other programs mentioned, it gets the job done and runs well. No harm in using more than one program because some catch things the others miss. Hope that helped.

If you are willing to spend some money - it is legal and completely worth it - purchase the program called TuneBite. www.tunebite.com It's really difficult to find a free program on www.download.com that converts an entire protected file to MP3 format, but you could still try.
This program converts any kind of audio file into whatever format you choose, even MP3. I would convert it to MP3 because it is simpler and played on anything. There is a trial version available for free, but it only converts the first thirty seconds of the song. Actually, it doesn't even convert the song because that is not how it works. Instead, it plays the song on your computer and records it in a different format and saves it as that format instead of whatever you had it in. It allows you to record and save it as either: WAV, MP3, WMA, and OGG (best quality). It's only twenty five bucks for the activation key, but after that its yours to keep and use however much you'd like. I've had it for about a month and am more than impressed with it so I definitely recommend it. It is free of viruses and doesn't mess up your computer. Hope that helped.

Q: i posted a question asking 'can one person be the cause of a dysfunctional family?' and LagunaBabe directed me to this site: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dysfunctional_family i read the article and immeditally started crying. i know that now, my dysfunctional family is affecting me and the way that i am. but i dont know how to change it. i dont want to end up bad. i only have 2 more years until i can legally move out. while my parents aren't addicted to drugs or alcohol, they are very controlling... i realized that all of these following symptoms from the article are true:
-Conditional love
-Disrespect
-Stifled speech (children not allowed to dissent or question authority)
-Emotional intolerance (family members not allowed to express the "wrong" emotions)
-Ridicule
-"Dogmatic or chaotic parenting" (harsh and inflexible discipline)
-"Denial of an Inner Life" (children are not allowed to develop their own value system)
-Social dysfunction or isolation"
am i going to end up bad because of my dysfunctional family? im scared that im the cause of my dysfunctional family.

Read "The Child Called 'It'" by Dave Pelzer. I know that I have always felt that my family life could be a little better, but not after reading this book. I don't want to give away too much, but it is a true story about a boy and the suffering he went through as a child. Some of it may shock you, revolt you, and maybe even appreciate your own family.
Are you going to end up bad because of your dysfunctional family? You decide that.
Viktor Frankl wrote a book called "Man's Search for Meaning", which I also recommend for you to read. Like Freud and Adler, Frankl was thought of as another school of thought in the area of psychology. It contains some very deep stuff that might be a little difficult to understand. To give you an idea of one of the topics he mentioned, he concluded that regardless of what situation you are in, the environment you are placed in, and the suffering you have to endure - you are still free to choose how you react to it.
He wrote "We have freedom to find meaning in what we do, and what we experience, or at least in the stand we take when faced with a situation of unchangeable suffering." He wrote about his days in the Holocaust concentration camps and about how he overcame the tremendous suffering he faced. What had helped him was finding meaning about his suffering, and realizing that no matter what happened, he always had the freedom to choose how to accept his suffering.
So... Will you end up bad because of your dysfunctional family? You still decide that. David, from the story I first mentioned, was abused physically and mentally, beaten, stabbed, not allowed to eat for days, forced to live in a garage, and deprived of any social contact with any friends or family, and he was only ten years old - he overcame all of that and didn't turn out bad at all.
I feel that if you realize the freedom you have to be who you want to be, to not let bad situations, controlling forces, and especially fear get to you, then you can escape any of these bad feelings or reactions you are having. You can willingly choose not to let these situations control you. You can still learn from them. I would suggest you find help - be it a counselor, a trusted adult, teacher or principle, neighbor, relative, anyone - that can offer you help. They are out there.
You know, Dave wrote that one of the worst feelings he had, worse than when he was put into an oven to burn, or had to be humiliated in front of everyone, was that his mother made him feel like he was just an "it". Nothing. He even began to feel that he deserved all of the abuse he was getting. His mother would brainwash him into thinking that he caused all of the problems...when it was obvious he didn't. They don't mention it, but I think the root of the problems comes from the alcohol abuse the mother goes through.
Don't feel that way at all, no matter what. He fought back - not physically like his mother did, but with his mind. I urge you to seek help if you need it, don't wait around. If you are being abused, then say so - the victim is never at fault. I haven't read your other question, so I don't know your exact situation. Regardless of what is happening, trust yourself and don't be afraid of turning out to be dysfunctional or anything bad. Feel free to drop one in my inbox if you need anything else. Hope that helped and good luck.

Studies show that music lessons improve brain development, especially at a younger age.
http://faculty.washington.edu/chudler/music.html
That website offers some insight into the experiments performed on music. I'm sure you've heard that listening to classical music helps, particularly Mozart.
I personally feel that some of it comes from within ourselves. What is mean is: If you think that something like that will work, then it has a greater change of actually happening. Almost like a self-fulfilling prophecy. There would be no harm in trying it out for yourself. Give it a try and see - everyone is different. Hope that helped and good luck.

I've wondered that too, and so decided the best place to look would obviously be none other than the great Internet itself.
Urban Dictionary says:
1st Definition:
1. recieved a good or service as a favor
2. to make out with someone
3. to have sex with someone
Ex:
1. Jerry gave me the hook up with those backstage passes.
2. Sandra and I hooked up last night and her adams apple was kinda big
3. Hooking up with Derick last night was the biggest mistake in my life.
2nd Definition:
verb: to engage in any type of sexual activity.
noun: 1. purposely ambiguous, equivocal word to describe almost any sexual action. usually used to exaggerate or minimize what exactly happened. a hook-up can range from a make-out session to full out sex.
2. person you hook up with
Ex:
a: "so what did you guys do last night."
b: "welll, you know...we hooked up."
a: "come on! that could mean anything. give me details!
3rd Definition:
to hook up is to do anything from make-out to have sex, with someone you are not in a relationship with
Ex:
I dont think i'll ever hook up with him, even if im drunk
So I guess it means both...Hope that helped.

It depends what you would categorize that as. I'll list a few, some which you might have read.
Brave New World - Huxley
1984 - Orwell
A Short History of Nearly Everything - Bryson
Meeting the Living God - O'Malley
Why Do Men Have Nipples? - Leyner, Goldberg
Rich Dad, Poor Dad - Kiyosaki
How Doctors Think - Groopman
Man's Search for Meaning - Frankl
Hope that helped, and enjoy.

Q: i like old volkswagen vans
but i have a question
do they have anything to do with hitler?

Well, not exactly invent, but Adolf Hitler was indeed the driving force behind the car. In the 1930s, cars cost more than most people earned in a year. When Hitler became the chancellor of Germany in 1933, he promoted the idea of a car affordable enough for the average working person. The Volkswagen, which means "people's car" in German, was essentially a political promise to win the public's goodwill.
Hitler met with automotive designer Ferdinand Porsche in 1933 and charged Porsche with creating the new car. The chancellor required that the Volkswagen carry two adults and three children, go up to 60 miles per hour, get at least 33 miles per gallon, and cost only 1,000 reichsmarks. Hitler may also have named the car the Beetle.
In 1938, Hitler had the Volkswagen factory built to produce the cars designed by Porsche. But by the time the factory was complete, Hitler had invaded Czechoslovakia and Poland. The factory was dedicated to building military vehicles, and the people's car fell by the wayside during World War II.
After the war, the factory ended up in the British section of occupied Germany. The British military re-opened the factory, named it Volkswagen, and finally gave control of the company to the German government. Hope that helped.

Q: i was just wondering about this with some friends the otherday:
-If a word in the dictionary were misspelled, how would we know?
--and
-If you ask someone if they're a compulsive liar and they answer yes, should you believe them?
--ohh also
-If a person with multiple personalities threatens suicide, is that a hostage situation?
thx and plz answer asap :)

1) Write it in an essay and see if the teacher catches it. Or just type it in Google. Also, they are the ones who decide how to spell a word. Scroobius Pip feels that we should spell Phoenix P-H-E-O-N-I-X, regardless of what the Oxford English Dictionary tells us. I secretly agree with him.
2) Yes you should believe them, because whatever their answer, they've lied to you. If they are a liar, then they admitted to it. If they are not a liar, but say they are anyway, then they lied to you. The word compulsive does throw things off though...
3) I don't think so. How do you hold yourself hostage in the first place? It would be like saying you are holding yourself hostage until you meet your own demands. Plus, who is threatening suicide, the one being held hostage or the one holding the other hostage? If they both threaten suicide, then I don't see how it is still a hostage situation. I say no.

If you are willing to spend some money - it is legal and completely worth it - purchase the program called TuneBite. www.tunebite.com
I couldn't find anything on www.download.com for the atrac format you mentioned. They do have some converters available for free. The catch: either its a trial version giving you only a minute of the song; some lose quality after a conversion; or they are limited in terms of what they can convert. Anyways, I think in this situation TuneBite would be the best way to go about it, if you can afford it. Hope that helped and good luck.

Feel free to ask me any questions or for an alternate way of contacting me through my inbox.
I really like giving advice, so thats why I have a column here. I've been inactive for a long time, but I'm back and will do my best to catch up. Advicenators is a great site and it is what we make it. Having my own advice column helped me learn a lot of new things, even about myself, while giving me the chance to help others along the way. Thanks.
