ipod video batteries do not last long, however they should last a bit longer than an hour. it all depends on what you are using your ipod for at the time. if you are watching a video, podcast, or music video the battery will diminish very quickly. if you are constantly scanning your artists or songs that will run the battery down quickly as well. however, if you are listening to a music playlist, or shuffling songs your battery should last for 2-3 hours.

are you charging it for the full 4 hours it needs?
if not, then yeah it shouldn't alst that long.

but if you fully charge it
and it says 'charged' on the screen before you unplug it,
then it should last longer
but that's only if you listen to music.

if yuo watch videos/movies, et.c then yeah
it does only last an hour =/

It depends. How long do you leave the iPod to charge? Do you mainly listen to music, or do you watch music videos, TV shows, and movies a lot?

If you watch music videos, TV shows, or movies on your iPod, the iPod will lose its charge more quickly. You should also charge your iPod for a minimum of 6 hours.

If you only listen to music, I think you should go have someone check it out at Best Buy or at apple.com. My iPod video stays charged for hours if I just listen to music.

I recommend buying an iPod USB Adapter from a place like Target or Wal-Mart. USB Adapters allow you to charge your iPod through a plug instead of the computer, which is very convenient. They're about $30.

Give it about 8 hours to fully charge. Make sure that when you plug in your iPod, it has the most recent updates.

Run a simple test: set a song to play on repeat after the full charge over and over. Mark down the time you start, and make note of when it stops. If it does not last more than 6 hours on play, then call the company and see what they can do. If you have the protection plan, they will replace the battery for you. If you don't...well then you'll have to call and find out. Hope that helped.
