It is the first time I have viewed Advicenators and I am amazed at the variety of questions asked and the range of ages asking them,in fact some of the questions are very bizarre and I suspect that it is difficult at times to keep your cool.
As you appear to be a versatile level headed person I would be interested in your reply as to why you do it and also as I am over 80 years do you think I could kick start a column for my age group (link)

I do it for a multitude of reasons. Every now and then, someone asks something that either hits close to home, or a topic that really needs answered well - so I try to do as best I can.
I hate seeing people give bad advice, and even worse when it includes misinformation.
You'll note that some of the more "inappropriate" questions, I have few qualms about giving an equally nonsensical or even "happy" answer...
As for a column for people of your age group... why not?

I was on restricted lifting once after being out three weeks from a surgery. I just did what I was able to do, and if I felt that I was exerting myself too far, I'd stop. Working with your hands is one thing... but what exactly have you been doing? Generally, there are always other tasks one can do when the heavier work is out of the question.

First off, decide this: do you want to learn to really play guitar, or just look cool?
If you just want to look cool, jump right in on electric.
If you want to really learn the intrument, I'd honestly suggest getting a classical.
The middle ground is getting a "regular" acoustic.
You can probalby find one that is suitable for you for under $300.
When choosing one, take it, sit down with it, and try to play it - it doesn't matter if you really can or not.. just go through the motions... in doing this, you need to see if you think the intrument feels comfortable or not. Try to put your fingers on the strings. Strum it. Pluck it. Pick it. If you don't like how it feels, don't buy it - no matter what "brand" it is, or what the saleman says.

Everytime I am on center stage, for playing an instrument, singing, acting, auditions, giving a speech in front of my class, whatever.... I get soooo nervous. My feet shake, my hands shake so hard it's hard to hold papers or instruments steady and they get really cold. Sometimes I get this nervous twitch above my lip. I don't know any way to get rid of it! And I can't just avoid the stage, because even though I get nervous, I really want to perform. Ugh.

Get nervous ahead of time... get really really nervous. Worry about it days in advance.

Get it out of your system.
The second you hit the stage - let it melt away.
If you worry at that point, you're only fucking yourself over.
Get it out of your system, and then when the moment arrives, just go for it and give it your all. You can worry again once you've left the stage.
