Ok...I want a guitar. Badly. I've wanted to buy one and learn how to play it for like 3 years now. But, I know absolutely nothing about it. So could someone please tell me what's a good guitar to start out with??? Ahhh, I feel stupid. ThankYOU.

CoHeEdANDsEvEnFoLd6 answered Tuesday June 1 2004, 5:19 pm: Its easier to learn on an electric guitar because the strings are easier to push down on when hitting the frets compared to an acoustic. A
"B.C. Rich Warlock" would be a great choice for a beginners guitar, its what i learned to play on. [ CoHeEdANDsEvEnFoLd6's advice column | Ask CoHeEdANDsEvEnFoLd6 A Question ]
browneyes answered Friday January 16 2004, 7:28 pm: u dont have to know a lote about guitars to start out.. u should get a acoustic one first, not an electric.. and do go for the expensive ones untill you have learned to play well and know that u will continue with it.. after you learn then you mite want to invest in an electric guitar! hope that helps... and as far as lessons go..go to one of ur local guitar stores and ask who they suggest.. they are always very helpful. o yea.. fender is my favorite brand.. the telecasters.. but they are expensive [ browneyes's advice column | Ask browneyes A Question ]
chaos answered Friday January 16 2004, 10:38 am: Do you have friends that have guitars? Or maybe a neighbor? You could ask them if you could spend some time with them and their guitar. This way you have the advice of someone who is already playing, and you will be more comfortable with your purchase. There are numerous little store that sell used equipment: music stores and pawn shops. Some of the music stores let you play with the instruments with some restriction. MFS answered Thursday January 15 2004, 9:44 pm: First off, decide this: do you want to learn to really play guitar, or just look cool?
If you just want to look cool, jump right in on electric.
If you want to really learn the intrument, I'd honestly suggest getting a classical.
The middle ground is getting a "regular" acoustic.
You can probalby find one that is suitable for you for under $300.
When choosing one, take it, sit down with it, and try to play it - it doesn't matter if you really can or not.. just go through the motions... in doing this, you need to see if you think the intrument feels comfortable or not. Try to put your fingers on the strings. Strum it. Pluck it. Pick it. If you don't like how it feels, don't buy it - no matter what "brand" it is, or what the saleman says. Moop answered Thursday January 15 2004, 5:55 pm: I know! Get a ukulele! They cost less and slowly you can work your way to learning guitar through it! That's what worked for me and most respectable musicians of yesterday started this way...Jimi Hendrix, Joni Mitchell, George Harrison... [ Moop's advice column | Ask Moop A Question ]

Or if you want to start simple get an squire fender version only a few hundred. But if you have a little bit more expensive taste get a Gibson you won't be sorry.
