Are you doing this yourself? If so, why don't you go to someone who's trained for such a thing. They know the appropriate locations for optimal penetration whereas you may be trying to pierce an area that's not really accepting to such piercings. If you ARE going to someone professional, ask to see his/her credentials. If they aren't up to par, find someone who is and let them have a shot at it. Regardless, please keep in mind that the navel requires EXTREME care to prevent infection.

The safest way to pierce any body parts is to go to a professional. Do not do it on your own unless you're also a professional on this field. If you're not you're risking yourself to infections and possible ugly scars...and you won't like that, would you?

I would agree that getting it professionaly done is the way to go....I've had my done, and keep in mind, although they look cool, its a lot of work to keep them clean and uninfected when you first get them...Make sure you have your parents permission, because if you have to have it checked by a doctor at some point, and your parents dont know...They are going to be upset when they find out

Pick up the longest needle you can and stab it upward through your nasal cavity into your brain, because I cannot believe you're stupid enough to try and pierce your stomach skin on your own.

My acquaintance got hers pierced PROFESSIONALLY on her sixteenth birthday, and it got infected so badly she just let it grow back in. I'm sure that piercing will be very attractive in three years when you get belly-rolls and breasts. yum.

FernGully answered Wednesday January 14 2004, 10:02 pm:
Go to a professional and stop messing around your body with sharp pointy objects. You'll end with diseases and infections and your belly buttons will be crusty and disgusting and no one will want to see it anyways.

The reason you cant get it through is because your stomach is covered with a layer of fat (not just you, everyone) and your friend probably got around a pocket of fat by chance and it went through. Professional piercers have piercing guns which force the piercing through quickly and with a lot of pressure.

You simply wont get it on your own and its risky.

Theres pretty much a 99% guarantee for infection when you do it yourself.

If you try and dont get it but make half-way through punctures into your skin you will end up scarring yourself.

Uhm, get it done professionally? Instead of risking infection and disease by doing it yourself?

Yeah, that would work.
