Splitzy answered Monday February 9 2004, 6:17 pm: Yes, it is horrible. It is even bad to fall asleep while babysitting, even if it isn't near a pool. You don't even deserve to babysit, the kid can get injured, drown, get kidnapped, or even killed. [ Splitzy's advice column | Ask Splitzy A Question ]

MFS answered Thursday January 15 2004, 9:45 pm: no. drowning small children is socially acceptable.
chaos answered Tuesday January 13 2004, 9:29 am: It can be a disastrous thing for any child to be left alone anywhere near a pool. A child can drown in two tablespoons of water. Even if they aren't swimming, you should not sleep. Get up and play with him or her.
A child can also sneak into a pool or other horrible things while you aren't looking. It's bad enough what they get into when you are paying close attention.
Try this: blow the yolk out of an egg (you may need help with this). Make a basket for the egg to stay in and see if you can keep it a week everywhere you go without breaking it. [ chaos's advice column | Ask chaos A Question ]
Here-To-Help answered Monday January 12 2004, 12:58 pm: Yes, it is. Even if they have floaties on. Or if they know how to swim, it's still not a good idea because if anything ever happens where they injure themself in the pool, they may not be able to get out.

MichiruKaiou answered Sunday January 11 2004, 9:10 pm: That seriously was the stupidest question I have ever heard, and you are definitely the stupidest person if you would even think twice about that. You seriously disgust me if you would think about doing that. [ MichiruKaiou's advice column | Ask MichiruKaiou A Question ]
darling answered Sunday January 11 2004, 8:13 pm: jesus well if you were my babys babysitter i would fire you right away how could you honestly be that careless if you put a little kid in the pool you should either (a) go in the pool with the child or (b) sit right on the edge or right near the pool so that no accidents can happen not asleep that just shows how self centered you are! Jollylollipop answered Sunday January 11 2004, 7:43 pm: I think you should not have asked this question. I think it is a TOTALLY uncalled for event if which you are baby-sitting a three year old and he/she is in the pool. It is for one thing that they cannot swim, but it is another thing that you are asleep on a job! No, it is not a good idea. [ Jollylollipop's advice column | Ask Jollylollipop A Question ]

amy1980 answered Sunday January 11 2004, 1:09 pm: I will be frank with you- It is horrible. It sounds like you are too immature to be babysitting if you can not stay awake while the child is in the pool. If you know you will be babysitting, get plenty of sleep the night before. If you are still sleepy, don't let the child in the pool. If you get sleepy while the child is in the pool, have enough sense to get the child out of the pool when you become too drowsy to watch him/her. Dry the child off. Involve the child in some SAFE activity and maybe, then maybe, you can doze while watching the child do the safe activity.
I'm sorry to be so harsh, but you should not be babysitting if you are not responsible enough to have the good sense to know you should not sleep while a three year old child is in a swimming pool where he/she could drown. [ amy1980's advice column | Ask amy1980 A Question ]
