Hey Everyone :) I'm Kate and a level 2 mod on here. I've had this account since July 2004, so I've been on here since I was 13! Wow ... crazy for me to think how long ago that was. I will admit I don't check in as often as I once did, but being away at college, being in a sorority, and having a job when I'm not at school is very time consuming. is it possible to get an std from toilet seats?

As odd as this may sound, yes it is possible. It isn't probable, but it is possible, and it has happened.
You can most definitly get crabs. If by some odd way someone with AIDS sits on the toilet and somehow bled through the butt, and you had a cut on your butt then it's possible to get AIDS, I'm not compltetly sure what other diseases, but it is VERY rare.

Yeah it's still possible. If the penis enters the vagina even for a few seconds, it's still possible to get pregnant. So you might want to wait a bit, and if you don't get your period, go take a pregnancy test. But don't stress over it, stress delays your period.

You can make it smaller by editing it using paint, or you will just have to find a new picture. I wish we could use bigger pictures, but the main reason (I think) we can't is because it takes too long to upload, and because it can make the page all funny.

what does it mean when you get 3 D's on your report card?? .... did i pass??? please help and i need a serious answer!! i rate high!!!!! please!

It all depends on your school, I'm not the best person to answer this because I'm not from the same place as you, I live in North Carolina, I'm not originally from NC, but I have lived in the US all my life, and every school I've ever gone to (about 5) have all had the same grading. So as I have already mentioned, I'm probably not the best person to answer this.
What you should've done though was put more information such as the grades that are possible to get. In my school it's ABCDE and F, F is failing, but if I were to get any other grade then I would've passed. I got all A's and B's on my report card, plus at the bottom it said I was promoted to grade 10 so thats how I know I passed. You're going to have to call or e-mail someone at the school and ask them if the grades you got were acceptable and if you passed. Sorry I couldn't be of more help, but unless there are other people here that attend your school (you could also ask friends if D's are passing if you're not sure) then you're out of luck.

Call the school, that is the BEST answer anyone on this site can give you, or at least the most honest.

What is the best age for a girl and a guy to get married?

And what should be a good age difference?

Well as long as the guy and girl are ready in every way possible, including emotionally and financially, and every other way, then why not go for it.

Personally I want to be married young, but not too young. I don't want to get married before I get out of college, I want to have a home, a car, and a good paying job before I get married, so I won't even think about it until I'm 22 or 23, but I've heard most relationships don't last as long unless you get married at least in the mid to late 20s and are married at least 2 or 3 years before having kids (that way once the kids are grown you know what it's like to live without kids)

A good age difference... well it depends when you're getting married. Like if you're 18 I'd want to be getting married to someone in their early 20s, because it'd be weird to say to your parents, after just becoming an adult that you're marrying a 26 year old. My parents are 9.5 years apart, but I personally don't want to be more than 6 years apart.


But honestly and truly, marry who you love, after loving them for a looooooooooooong time. Don't date a guy for 2 or 3 months then be like, yep he's the one, then run off and get married. Because you will still have a LOT to learn about each other. And if you love them, who cares the age difference. Now if you know and/or watch the show Maury then you'll know how odd it is to see a 60yr old with a 20 year old, but if you love them, as odd as this may sound go for it.

I'm kinda scared of shots, and tomorrow i have to go to the doctor to get a physical and i have to get a tetnis shot. im freaking out. do u have any tricks to help me relax or to numb the pain? i need some advice asap b/c the appointment's tomorrow morning. thx!

I'm scared of any kind of needle, you should hear some of my stories...
Anyway, the last time I got my tetnus shot was back when I was in my first few months of 7th grade (now I'm going into 10th) but, it actually didn't hurt that bad. My Dr. asked me questions as she was doing it, plus me and my sister had our physicals at the same time, so she got her shot first, and her telling me that it didn't hurt was a definite nerve relaxer. But maybe just think of a song you know most, or all the words to, sing it in your head while they're doing it. Or do something difficult that will take a lot of thinking. Suck as counting down from 1570 by a weird number such as 51 or make the first number bigger and the second smaller (I just hit random numbers on the keybord, but it still works out where it'd be a little difficult to count down by)
Or if there's anyone in there besides the doctor, such as a parent or sibling, then start up a conversation with them to keep your mind off of it.
And at the end, me and my sister had to wait like 10 minutes, maybe longer, just to make sure there weren't any side effects to it. But it's normal. So trust me, from someone deathly afraid of shots, the tetnus wasn't so bad.

One of my friends who happen to be a boy has a girlfriend i started to like him more than just a friend and he started to like me but he didn't want to end his relationship with his girlfriend so we started to write letters back forth about how school was going nothing much I showed my best friend the letters and he got mad and said i tried to make it seem like he was going to break up with his girlfriend i tried to explain thats not what happen but he whould'nt listen but now i dont know what to do? Ummm, I can't really answer this, but it's not because I don't know an answer it's because your question confuses me.
At first I thought the best friend and boyfriend were the same guy, now I think they're different guys, maybe you can copy and paste this question into my inbox with different guys, or with same guys at the end or something so I can answer it better.
If not, then you should try and find a different columnist, sorry but it confused me.

Okay, i've just decided to try tennis, but i have friken clue of how the hell to play it. lol I keep trying to find out things online, and it's telling me things about how u need 4 points to win a game, 6 games to win a set, and 2 sets to win a match, but i have no clue what they mean by "game" "set" or "match", I dont know what they are!!lol I also don't know how you get scored on this. Hi, i am the one with the anorexic friend. I know this will sound very dumb, but she completely confides in me and asked me not to tell her mom. I feel that i need to, but i dont want to lose her trust and her friendship, i'm not sure what to do.

Okay, well I guess first you should talk to her about it. You said she completely confides in you correct? Well ask her why she's anorexic, ask her if she wants to start eating again. This is a HUGE burden for you to try to be helping her with, it's hard enough being a teenager and just growing up, let alone having a friend that needs more help than you are able to give her. Anorexia as I said before is a MENTAL disease. At first you think, "hey this is a fast way to lose 10lbs" then once you lose those 10lbs, you realize hey maybe I can lose another 10, then you think WOW am I starting to look better, ect.
BUT you can look to yourself BEAUTIFUL, but in reality you're completely skin and bones.
SHE NEEDS REAL HELP!!!!!! She told you not to tell her mom, well there you go. Tell her you ARE going to tell someone no matter what, whether she likes it or not, because you care about her and she's your friend. Tell her you're willing to let her choose who you tell, but if she won't choose then tell her that you're going to tell her mom, or guidance, or someone. And follow through with that.
Okay, well you most definitley should tell someone whats going on, other wise it'll become completely out of control and she could end up in the hospital. Hope this helps, if you need anything else feel free to e-mail or write another one in my inbox.

one of my really good friends is anorexic... she just admitted to us ((me n my friends)). We really want her to stop but don't know how, she said she'll talk to us, but i don't know *exactly* what to say to make her realize she needs to stop... now... what should we say???

I was anorexic, for about 2 and a half years, and it's a completely mental disease. My friends realized it without me telling them, but it was a certain teacher who noticed I was eating less and less, then nothing at lunch, and then she contacted my parents, and I had to get help.
But the only way to help is to tell an adult, because what your friend needs is a proffesional. I saw a "shrink" for about a month, then got transfered to one I saw for about a year, who was the only one I really liked and could open up to, then I got transfered to some guy who just put me on medication, but somehow I snapped out of it I guess, the meds were just to help me mentally, but I didn't like that guy at all, he was kind of creepy, I would only go in there with a parent because for some reason I didn't trust him. So if your friend does get proffesional help (which she should) talk to her and make sure she likes whoever is helping her, or at least feels comfortable with them, because it's hard to open up when you don't trust, or feel all comfy with the person.

There seriously is nothing you can do but tell a trusted adult who will know how to get your friend help. This is a big thing to deal with, and you and your friends can't be expected to deal with it, she needs help, and it's your duty as a friend to get her help, which in this case means going to an adult if her parents don't already know.

ok, well my friend got raped by her dad and is abused. I dont know if he does it alot, or if he did it just once, but still, my friend is in deep shit if she dosent tell anyone. Fortunatly she told me cause we're really close, but she didnt tell the social worker *she was adopted* cause she said she dosent want her world to turn upside down and change. She told me to keep it as a secret and when she told me i was half asleep *i'm awake now* so i promised i wouldnt tell anyone that could arrest him or anything. Should i tell my parents and make her suffer but have her world the way it is and how she wants it to be? or should i break my promise to my friend and tell my parents? Please help, it's a big problem! i'll rate high!

If someone is being hurt, then it's time to break the promise. At first your friend might be mad (I was definitley mad when I heard someone told guidance about me cutting and stuff) but then I was glad that the person told because now I was able to get it all open and get help.
She might be mad at you, but she'll eventually forgive you. If you were being hurt, but you were afraid of something such as being taken away from your family then you wouldn't want anyone to tell, but do you really want your friend to suffer like this? She told you because even though she denies it, she wants you to tell someone, or she just wanted to vent, but you definitly should tell someone.

Can someone please give me an intellegent answer to y people cut? It makes no sense to me. The only conclusion i have come to is mental/emotional weakness.

You're hearing this from someone that has cut, and though I haven't cut in about 6 or 7 months I've still thought a lot about it.
Cutting, it sounds stupid, and makes you think, "why would someone do this"
Well I guess you could say it's an emotional weakness. Cutting is physical pain, the reason you cut is emotional pain. Sometimes the emotional pain hurts so bad that physical pain is the only way to stop it. I really don't know how to explain it in words, well writing it down. I mean there are people out there that cut for attention, I started because of problems me and an ex had, also because I blamed myself for the death of a friend. But really it is stupid, but in an unexplainable way, it makes you feel better. That is the best explanation I can give, it's a hard subject to explain. But I guese emotional weakness (depending what you mean by it) would be a good enough explanation.

Does he even know you? If not he won't be able to press charges unless he figures it out. And you can't get into trouble for that, he was doing something he shouldn't have been doing and you protected yourself. If he tries to press charges then you yourself should press charges. He started it, and well we can all say that you were the one to finish it haha.
