You dont have to worry about it intill your 16.
if your 16 and dont have then PANIC. but since your 13 you will probably be getting it soon.

Ok, so as you probably already know as kids get older, some of them lose that "close" relationship with their parents and start fighting more with them and all..well thats whats happening to me right now.dont get me wrong. i love my parents and all,but i fight with them alot more and get irratated with them alot more, esp. with my dad. and then when it comes time that i need someone to talk to about stuff, im scared to talk to them for some reason. i dont know what to do when it comes to this.. i want to be able to talk to them and feel comfortable around them, and not argue so much..but everything i do just seems to make it all worse!! I'm no expert but I think it's because to a parent, you will always be their "baby" and teens can't wait to shatter that "baby" stigma.
The teen years is a time for exploration and the beginning of independence.
These two worlds begin to clash during the teen years because Parents want to hold on to you as long as possible and teens want to be free as soon as possible.
I think that's why driving is such a drama. Kids view that a drivers license as their ticket to freedom and parents are terrified because their "babies" seem way too young for this responsibility.
It sounds like you don't WANT to fight with your parents. If that's true, you HAVE to talk to them. I think I'm close to Zach but every once in a while, we have to have a "talk." And here's how we handle it -
We both express our point of view.
We BOTH keep an open mind to the other's feelings.
We BOTH get to respond to the original point of view.
And then one of three things happens 1. He convinces me. 2. I convince him. 3. We agree on a compromise.
It's working so far but I give full credit to Zach because he is very good about seeing both sides of the situation and respecting the final outcome.
VERY IMPORTANT NOTE - NEVER LIE! Once a parent catches you in a lie - none of this advice will work because nobody can respect a liar!
A lot of teenagers have a hard time seeing where their parents are coming from. I think it's important that you respect your parents. THEY are responsible for you until you are 18. THEY take care of you. Every decision they make (even the ones you hate) are with your best intentions in mind.
If you respect THEM - they will respect YOU.
Some important tips during the "talks" -
Always stay calm when you talk to your parents. Emotional outburts scare parents and they will instinctively try and control you.
Be calm, be logical and no matter what they do - agree with them. Respect that they have the final say. Try this a few times and watch your parents change the way they view you. They will see you as being very mature. They will trust you more. And they will give you more freedom.
So this was a long answer. I don't know if you are going to be able to really understand what I'm saying. But the key to getting along with your parents is mutual respect. I think respect is something that you EARN by being HONEST, calm, rational, logical (not emotional) when you have discussions and no matter what the final outcome is - you MUST respect your parents. When they see this behavior - you will earn their respect and your freedom.
I'd be interested in reading comments from any other teen or parent reading this. Does anybody else have anything to add to this?

ok, i'm turning 16 soon, and my parents said that i could get whatever car i wanted as long as it was under $40,000 and met the following criteria: it had to be Japanese/European(they don't like American cars), it had to be reliable, and it had to be safe. i was wondering if i could get some suggestions on what to ask for (link)

they don't like american cars. well they can go to hell. american cars are some of the best cars out there and most affordable and longest running. people like this are the reason that bad companies like BMW and honda are touted as such great things when in truth they're shit. and i would never own either. and the thing is guess what? GM owns saab, subaru, and part of mercedes. ford owns mazda, volvo, jaguar, aston martin, and land rover. chrysler owns the rest of mercedes. that means out of the major companies you have leftover there's honda, toyota, mitsubishi, BMW, volkswagen, and nissan. now then toyota, nissan, and honda all produce a majority of their cars in none other than america. not in japan right here in the USA. toyota has a plant in san antonio texas. now knowing this that leaves us with mitsubishi, BMW, and volkswagen.
mitsubishi is the absolute worst company you could ever buy from. a car company that trades parts with the koreans, a car company that uses 30 year old engine design like it's something new. mitsubishi lacks something called quality control and fails to produce anything exciting or new.
BMW is a company that sells expensive cars that break down often and are in the garage and require costly expensive repairs it's not worth the trouble.
volkswagen. a company that makes quality cars and they're plenty affordable. plus they tend to have some look and feel to them and some passion in their design unlike nissan and hinda and toyota which all look plain, bland and watered down. go for an audi A4 1.8T quattro. it's the best of all the cars you could go for. if your parents weren't douchebags and liked american cars (i really don't see why you wouldn't unless you're an uneducated tool) i just say go for the audi A4 1.8T quattro. good car, mighty reliable, sturdy, and easy to maintain. i really don't like your parents though

ok so the other day i put on a pad from my moms package of em (they were light flow ones) just to see what a pad would feel like when i finally got my period. well omg it was like wearing a diaper, it was huge on my underwear and i couldnt even like move in my pants lol cause it itched and was so big.. why is this what am i going to do when the time comes for a pad! Well, it all depends upon which brand you use. Some brand are smaller than others. Plus, youwill get used to how they feel after a day or so. If you really dont like em you could maybe use tampons instead. I would advise talking to someone about it (risks and stuff) like yous mom or another older female. I used pads for my first year or so and it wasnt that bad. But once I switched to Tampons I cannot go back. Well, good luck hun!!! Hope I helped!

I've always been an animal lover but i feel like i need to do something to help. I was searching on ways to help animals when i came across a video on the web (http://www.petatv.com/tvpopup/Prefs.asp?video=free_me_video) and I want to do something to help. Not just something like donating, i want to stop it all, but it's impossible. All the sites i look at, its just asking for donations, but i feel like it doesnt help that much, i want to put a stop to all of it because its so horrible. And i have so much passion towards animals. I just need someone to help me and tell me what i can do to make a big difference because i feel like i can, and i really really do want to, but how?

sry this is long but i have a really big problem and i have nooo idea how to deal with it. ok so i usually go to my dads house for new years and stay here for christmas and we switch every year and im supposed to go there for new years this year and well my mom has been trying to get him to get a tiket for me for like two months then like two weeks ago my step dad called him nicely and was like "you know we want to go to my moms house but we dont know when you scheduled the ticket" and my real dad said he would get it tomorrow so we didnt hear from him then like the next week my mom called him and he said there was something wrong with the airlines and said he would get it the next day well we didnt hear from him and we tried contacting him but he never contacted us back then on thursday he called us and said he had just my ticket that day and he only got a one way and he gave my mom a week in advance to get a return ticket those are like really expensive if u get them this late and we dont have the money to get it and my dad knows that then the other day my step mom wrote my mom a really nasty email saying that my mom doesnt deserve to be a mother and that shes a horrible one now i liked my step mom but wat makes me mad is that my real dad allowed my step mom to write this email and why would my dad wait so late to get my ticket to go there when he knows that we cant afford a return ticket i feel like he almost doesnt want me there my dad has never put me down in my life and my parents have stoped fighting for about a year now and he just really makes me mad how he would let my step mom write that email and start everything up again and my mom says he's trying to get back at her and just make her mad but i know that he would never try and stick me in the middle more than i already am gah i just wish they could all get along im so angry i have no clue how to deal with this at all my mom already feels terrible and i not really mad at anyone other than my step mom im just sorta mad at the situation! ah help! thnx so much! I just tried talking to you online because I have a few questions but you're away.
I think there is more going on here than you see.
Does your Dad travel a lot for his job? The reason I ask that is because when you travel, you accumulate "points" to use towards free airline tickets. When you said, "there was something wrong with the airlines" it made me think about how impossible it is to cash in those points for tickets during the holidays. I've been explained that the airlines designate only a handful of seats on each flight to be used for point remibursement. And almost everytime I've tried to cash mine in, I could get either the departure date or the return date but not both. I wonder if this is what is happening. It sure sounds familiar. That would explain the one way ticket.
Regarding your Stepmom - did you read my reply below about "the dog in pain?" I've found that there is almost ALWAYS a reason that people lash out beyond the obvious.
Christmas time is a HUGE strain on parents. Getting the perfect gifts, dealing with crowds, the MONEY that is being spent, etc! I read that December is the number one month people complain about depression. It's a lot of pressure as an adult. This strain is hard to understand when you are a kid because it's THE most exciting time of the year! It's a lot of FUN when you are the KID! Try and be sensitive to the strain both sets of parents are probably under right now.
I'm certainly not excusing your stepmoms attack on your mother but I AM wondering if it isn't (at least partially), a misunderstanding. Sometimes emails don't properly project the intended message.
Let's talk more about this online. Here are some questions I think you should try and find answers too -
1. Have you talked with your stepmom?
2. Have you heard all sides of what's going on?
3. Is it possible that the divorce papers say that they share the airline tickets expense?
4. Did you read the email from your stepmom?
The answers to these questions could change the way you feel about what is going on.
My answer isn't much help right now but maybe after we talk, we can figure it out. It's sad to see this happening during the holidays. But it's more normal than you realize.

I'm sixteen years old, I finally have a boyfriend. lol. We've been together for two & a half weeks. My mom doesn't know about him yet. He & two best friends keep telling me to tell my mom, but I don't know how to come out and just say it. She used to not want me to have a boyfriend a few years ago. so we have finals..and i usually cram lol and when you cram..you kinda do it yourself haha? but anywaysssss like, this one girl came over and we studied together (my dad said yes btw). so then my dad leaves the house for some reason ..and my mom comes home from work. and she starts being all "what the heck are you two doing? dont study together the night before the final!! go to a seperate room and study by yourself! NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" and all that and omg she was SOOOOOOOOOO MEAN ! and she was really rude to my friend! you arent rude to guests! you scream at your kid when the guest is GONE, not when the guest is THERE! and now she probably thinks my family is full of freaks =/ i hate my mom so much right now you have no idea how RUDE and MEAN she was! like seriously, you had to be there..you'd totally agree! I'm really sorry that your mom embarassed and upset you. It sounds like she was trying to do what she thought was best but I see why it upset you.
Here's the analogy I use when I'm talking to Zach - If you had a dog (a dog that was incredibly faithful and protective of you), and it got hit by a car and was laying in the street in pain....if you walk up to it and try and help it, chance are, it will bite you. It's an instinct. When any animal or person is in pain, it's normal to lash out. It has nothing to do with you or anything YOU did, it's about being in pain and no knowing how to manage it.
Instead of getting angry with your mom and feeling hatred towards her, take a moment and go try and understand why she was so angry when she got home. Maybe she was in terrible traffic...maybe she had a terrible day at work...maybe she went to buy you the perfect Christmas gift and they were sold out...there are millions of things that could have happened to her to make her angry when she got home.
Nobody loves you as much as your parents but this parent thing is TOUGH. It's really hard because it's impossible to always do the right thing. So guess what? Parents make mistakes. Everybody does. It's important that you take time to try and understand and work through the issues when they arise. (not just with your parents - it's the same thing with bullys at school or even your friends)
If you were MINE, and you came and and talked to me about what happened and how it made you feel, I'd feel really bad and I'd try hard to be more sensitive in the future. But it's important that you remember that your parents are human too and have feelings. Don't attack or accuse or be angry with her. FIRST, ask her if she had a bad day yesterday and try and see if something put her in a bad mood. THEN tell her how her behavior made you feel.
Talk to your parents. They used to be teenagers too. They WANT you to tell them how you feel about things. They WANT to be the best parents they can be. Let me know how this works out for you.
