My name's Jennifer, but I'm more commonly known as Jen or Sporkster. I love lots of things/people including God; volleyball and soccer, my two favorite sports; and cheese. I also love Pi, but that's a story for another day.
I've been answering questions on Advicenators for over three years now, so I'm pretty experienced with it. I love answering questions and helping you out anyway I can, so if you've got a question, just ask me!
Ask me about: Christianity, athletics, physical fitness, love-life, relationships, friendships, HTML queries, book suggestions, music suggestions, musical theory, history, English (or Spanish) grammar, Paint Shop Pro 8, skin problems, sports injuries, "punk" fashion, nutrition, etc.

Q: my boyfriend broke up with me because i didn't want to go any farther with him. now he seems to regret it and wants to get back together. should i give him another chance?
A: Unless he's grown up and isn't going to push you to go farther, I'd say that's a definite "no."
You should never put up with a boyfriend pressuring you to "go further" with him, never. If he tries to pull some kind of crap like that on you, he doesn't care for you at all. All he's concerned about is himself, not you, and you deserve someone much better than that.
I'd say don't give him another chance. If he's played the game once, he'll play it twice.
Find a sweet guy who won't pressure you.
Q: I wrote a question yesterday about being accused of something i didn't do.. Hope you guys remember that... Anyways, the principal just told me that I am suspended from the bus for 2 weeks and I have to clean all the stupid busses on Monday. I think that that is child abuse. He blamed me for something I didn't do. I only ripped a tiny bit of the window film.. Thats an unreasonable reason to suspend me. This other guy cut the seatbelts, ripped the air freshener and he's going to do the same thing as me. 2 weeks of suspension and community service.
He also called my parents about it. I'm already through with my mom, but now comes the hard part. My dad. I really don't know what to tell him..
What should I say to my dad and tell the principle it's a stupid reason to suspend me??
A: People honestly have the most idiotic definitions of child abuse nowadays. Punishing you for what you did by making you do very simple physical labor is *not* child abuse. It's a little bit over the top, but definitely not abuse.
I believe you said yesterday that you HAD done stuff similar to what you say this guy's done before. Did you get punished for that? If not, maybe your principal is finally getting you for your past crimes.
Get your act together and stop vandalizing your school's equipment. It'll save you a whole lot of trouble and time if you'll just stop it all together right now.
Tell your dad what you did--no need to lie to him about it.
And ask your principal for a lighter sentence--maybe just clean all of the buses without any out-of-school suspension. Be calm and reasonable when you ask. Maybe he'll lighten up and cut your time.
Remember--you're going to be associated with the people you hang around. Don't hang around people that might get you in trouble.
Take it or leave it, but there's my advice.
Q: My boyfriend is FAR too calm. I hate it. I mean i love it at times but sometimes a realationship needs some tension. Like and I wanna fight with him than kiss and mkae up. He never gets mad. Like last week this guy completly tried to get in my pants right in front of him and he just laughed it off. PISSED ME OFF!
Today one of my best friends whos like obsessed with me and he put his arm around me and was like kissing my cheek and my bf wasnt even like mad at all.
How should I make him madder like cuz this calmness with be the downful of our realtionship.
A: Your boyfriend does deserve a better person than you.
What are you trying to make him jealous for?
Most girls would kill to have a guy who was completely trusting of them, and who didn't have a problem with them having close guy friends. He trusts you, and yet you don't WANT him to?
That's seriously screwed up.
Your boyfriend is as obviously mature beyond his years as obviously as you are immature.
If you want a silly, trivial little jealousy game, find a guy who wants to use you, control you, and manipulate you--not a nice guy.
Q: in cheerleading im finding it really hard to do my jumps. My technique is great, my toes are pointed i land together...etc. I'm also very flexible, but whenever i do my jumps i find it hard to get any height. are there any tips on how to get my legs up higher?
A: Build up strength in your calves, and do lots and lots of jumping.
Here's a few exercises that'll help you out:
You'll need a set of stairs or something similar. Stand on the very each of the stair with only the balls of your feet touching it. Stand with your heels hanging in the air. Stand up on your tip-toes and hold it for about thirty seconds. Go down, rest a little, and repeat. Do about 5 sets of 5 every day.
Run a few laps up and down some stairs every day.
Take a very sturdy wooden box approximately one or two feet in heighth. Stand in front of the box, and begin to step one foot up, then the next, one foot down, other foot down, one foot up, other foot up, etc. Do this at a very fast pace for about 30 seconds. Your calves will be VERY tired after this, but do about three sets of thirty seconds a day.
Also, just run. Running is great to tone not only your legs, but your entire body.
If you need me to explain this a bit better, just ask me for clarification. It's hard to explain without pictures!
Q: What is the curse of Eve????? sorry i need to know fast.............. thanks
A: The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil was not necessarily an apple tree. It could have been any kind of fruit tree. *shrugs* Doesn't really matter I guess.
Anyway, God gave Adam and Eve a whole huge garden with millions of trees and told them to not eat from *one*. God wanted to keep Adam and Eve innocent, this is probably why he told them not to eat of it.
So Satan was all rebelious and stuff, and he wanted to get Adam and Eve to go against God's command.
He told Eve that God was just afraid that if they ate of it, they would be just as smart as He was. Eve took a bite, offered some to Adam, and they both got their butts kicked out of the garden of Eden for sinning.
That's why men have to work hard and child-birth is painful for women (example, menstruation and actual labor).
Q: Hi. I'm not on a diet, but whenever I talk to friends who follow a 'healthier diet' than myself, they always, always mention fruit smoothies as a great big help. And they mean it as in home made smoothies. They mention something about a blender fruits, milk and no sugar but I have nooo idea how to make them. Does anyone know how to? And are you supposed to add sugar?
And the evil question: does chocolate cause facial skin irritation?
A: If you really want a great tasting smoothie, here's what I make:
Take
1 cup whole strawberries (without the stem/leaves)
1/2 cup sliced bananas
1/2 cup whatever other fruit you like
1 1/3 cup orange juice
Blend in blender. Enjoy. Makes about four good servings.
Milk is ok in smoothies, but orange juice is really quite good.
As for chocolate--no, chocolate does not cause facial skin irritation.
Q: On my homework the question is:
EXPAND 5(a-3)
how would I do this?
A: Just giving you a few other multiplicative properties to help you out:
Distributive Property of Multiplication --
a(b + c) = ab + ac
Ex. 4(7 + 11) = 4(7) + 4(11) = 72
Commutative Property of Multiplication --
ab = ba
Ex. 5(4) = 4(5) = 20
Associative Property of Multiplication --
a(bc) = (ab)c
Ex. 2(4 x 5) = (2 x 4)5 = 40
Identity Property of Multiplication --
1a = a
Ex. 1(6) = 6
Multiplicative Inverse Property --
1/a x a/1 = 1
Ex. 1/7 x 7/1 = 1
I hope this information can help you on other math homework you may have--just make a reference to this anytime you need it.
Q: I need advice on how I can start a petition. I need to know how I officially and legally start it and who do I present it to. How do I organize it? As you can see from my title, the purpose of the petition would be to have some sort of ruling against out-ruling the pledge of allegiance in schools or changing it.
Anyways, do you think because of 'under God' that after over 200 years, the pledge should be changed or withdrawn from any school. Why or why not? Thanks in advance.
A: I don't think this will pass legally, but I'll give my two cents on the situation:
The Pledge of Allegiance has only been said for the past one hundred years or so, not two hundred. It was originally published in a children's magazine in the early 1900's. The pledge became popular, and it has become tradition of most schools to say the pledge each morning.
However, this country was founded by God fearing individuals who built this country on religious freedoms, along with various other important freedoms.
It's bullshit to say that saying "Under God" during the pledge is "unconstitutional," utter bullshit.
If you do not believe in God, simply do not say "Under God"--your rights are not being infringed upon in that way, and neither are anyone else's. However, taking the phrase completely out of the pledge and *making* students refrain from saying "Under God" *is* unconstitutional, in the fact that you are not allowing the freedom to exercise one's religious rights. That *is* an infringment on a person's rights, and should not pass legally.
That is my view on the situation.
Q: Hello! My name is Steven, and I have a small issue. I have realised that I have OCD.
While I don't wash my hands for 3 hours or make sure everything is perfect, I am finding that I have a lot of tendancies to do such things. One thing that I find doing is trying to make sure that everything is even. My socks must be all the way up, and at the same level, or they must be adjusted. My books must be at the same angle to the floor... My Music stand must always be closer to the window than my bookbag, etc.
It wasn't until last Friday that I realised I might have it. I was in Gym, and we did some weird hand motion thingy. It involved banging hands on the seats, and it had about 3 more left hand slams than right hand slams. So, I slammed my hand down 3 times to even it out. This girl looked at me strangely, and I was shocked that she did not find that normal. I asked if she ever got that, and she was jokingly like "Steve, that's called OCD."
I had been suggested with having it before. I have had urges to jump off high places or run into trafic, yet not to die. Just to try it. And I was suggested to seek a doctor's medical attention as I may have OCD. So, I told this girl about this. Her guy friend asks if I have tendancies to want everything perfect, even though I obviously make no attempt to, which is true. So I said "yes". Immediately, they both said "You have OCD."
I took a few tests online. Out of 40, I scored 25 points. 12 points and above say that you most likely have OCD, see a doctor.
I cannot see a doctor, however, as my parents will not bring me to one. It took them 6 months to believe that I had tendinitis in my knee when it obviously was visable.
My question is how do I deal with this? Is there a type of home treatment I can do to deal with it? Or am I stuck?
Thank You. I love you all.
Steven
A: That's definitely OCD.
I have it, and it can be a bugger to deal with sometimes.
I sometimes have urges to count all of my pencils. I have to count them over and over and over again and make sure I've counted them correctly, because if I haven't, I'm going to die. I have to lock and unlock doors repeatedly. My rugs have to be at specific angles to desks and furniture in my room. I have to have my books in an exact, specific order or I can't stand to sit still.
Believe me, I really understand where you're coming from.
All you can do is just make yourself not do it. It's really hard at first, but you have to force yourself to refrain from it. Count to 10, count to 20, count until the urge goes away. Read a book or listen to music, that usually helped me. If you're a Christian, pray.
Just distract yourself from it, and eventually your urges will go away.
If you need any help/support with this, I'll be happy to help you out.
Q: My friends are always saying that when you go to heaven your always happy....but am i the only person who thinks that would suck? I mean think about it. There would be no excitment, no enthusiasim, no love, there wouldn't even be hate or sorrow...which i think we all need a little bit of. Am i the only one who thinks this way?
I'll rate fives for your thoughts!
~Melissa~
A: No love in heaven? Nonsense! God IS love, and His love is the most important thing in the universe. Yes, there's going to be love in heaven.
Excitement? Well, if you're a Christian, what better excitement do you need? You're in HEAVEN--think about it, don't you think you'd be pretty damn excited?
If you'd like to discuss that with me, I'd be glad to.

Q: Is it true that if you drink a lot of water at night you'll look healthier and your eyes will not look so tired in the morning??also...is there a such think as drinking TOO MUCH water? thanks!
A: You're recommended to drink at least eight glasses of water a day--that's a nice, healthy amount of water to drink, since most people don't drink that much water anyway.
I'd say drinking more than a gallon of water per day is overdoing it, though. Water is nice, and it's definitely good for you. It's also essential for your body (after all, you're body is 75% water) but too much of it can be dangerous.
Stick to eight 8 ounce servings a day and you'll be fine.
Q: What do you do when you have a teared vocal cord??? How do you fix this... I hurt it today and chorus and IT KILLS!!! it was on accident too and i HAVE CHORUS EVERY SINGLE DAY!!!
A: For God's sake, woman (or man), don't sing!
Honestly, I don't think you've torn a vocal chord, though you could have damaged them in some other way. Please, though, for your sake don't sing anymore. You could really screw your voice doing that, just stop.
Have your mom or dad write a note so you don't have to sing in chorus, and go see a doctor.
Q: ok my school is doing a tabacco awareness and we have to make posters and the winner gets their poster on a road sign...i have to slogans in mind
They're Rich and Your Dead
or
Don't let them take you life to
which one do u guys like better!?!
A: They're Rich and You'RE Dead
I like that one best, just make sure you spell it right on the poster. That would be quite embarrassing.
Good luck with your poster!
Q: what does this mean?? "the only thing new in the world is the history we do not know?
thanks i'll rate high!
A: Basically it's saying that history repeats itself, which is true.
People care so little about their history nowadays--it's sad. People from other countries know more about us than we know ourselves.
And when you don't know what mistakes people made in the past, how are you supposed to prevent yourself from making them in the future?
Learn your history! It's very important that you do. An extensive knowledge of world history will help you out in so many different ways--no kidding.
Hit the books!
Q: One of my teachers is REALLY ugly. He also has a speech problem sort of. I'm in the front row in his class and I know this is sort of rude but whenever I look at him I start to crack up but I turn the other way. I dont know how to prevent this because I know one of these days I'm gonna get into trouble. What can I do to stop laughing??
A: EDIT::
You can help anything if you try.
=P
I gave you my advice, take it or leave it.
Maybe you should grow up and understand that not everyone is "pretty," and you shouldn't laugh at people just because of the way they look or sound?
1) When you laugh, he notices. Chances are it hurts his feelings as well--we had an "ugly" teacher who people made fun of all the time and it hurt her feelings so bad she ran to the bathroom crying one day.
2) It's very immature. Only little kids giggle and laugh about how people look. It's also quite snobby/bitchy to assess the quality of a person's personality by simply looking at their appearance.
Just tell yourself that it doesn't matter if he's "ugly" or has a speech impediment--so long as he presents you with the right material in a good manner for the subject you're studying. Some of the ugliest people have the best personalities. Don't judge people by how they look, but decide what your opinion of them is by what they are inside. That's all that counts.
Q: ok i just started algebra in school yesterday, since it was my first day and in middle school i only did pre-algebra so i dont really know algebra.... I need some help on questions
one of them is 1 7/8 + 3/4... any idea??
5 3/4 * 1/3.......... 2 1/5 divided 4/5
2/5- 1/10
IF ANYONE COULD HELP ME out with how too do these... i only did 1 of each kind so i can learn it but i need help on how to do each one...
Also in the directions it says Perform the indicated skill... (i get that in other words it means do the question)... and simplify your answer if possible (does that mean make it the smallest it can be??... im pretty sure) BUT IF U HELP me i will RATE YOU A FIVE!!!!!
A: Ok, set it up like this
1 7
8
3
+ 4
_______
Change your denominators to a number that's divisible by both or all of your current denominators like this:
1 7 x1 7
8 x1 = 8
3 x2 = 6
+ 4 x2 = 8
_______________
Add your fractions:
7/8 + 6/8 = 13/8, or 1 5/8.
Add that number to your original whole number(s),
So 2 5/8 is your answer.
Try to use that method to answer your next two problems, but if you'd like me to explain them more in depth, email me and I'll be glad to help you. =)

Q: hey...well within the last year i have become christian. but lately i have been having my doubts. i have depression, and have had it for about 2 years now. i pray so much but i dont seem to be making any progress to becoming happier. i dont understand why my prayers arent getting answered.
A: As others have said before, your first year of being a Christian is bound to be the hardest and most confusing. Everyone goes through trials in their life--some go through little ones, and some suffer alot. You simply have to trust that God knows what's best for you. You have to put your faith in Him. However, you can't JUST pray and expect things to get better--God wants you to put a little effort in yourself.
If you're depressed, try finding a new hobby, or an uplifting book, or spend time with a family member/close friend to help yourself out of your depression. Playing an instrument is a soothing, calming hobby that you might be interesting in taking up. Try an acoustic guitar, piano, or violin. Spend time just talking to your grandpa about when he was little. Get out and enjoy your life.
Also, thank God for what you've got. Realize that you could have it a hundred times worse, and how lucky you are to be where you are. Things will get better soon, don't worry.
When you pray, do you have a clean slate? I.E., you've confessed your sins? If not, there might be your problem.
If you've got any more questions, or if you need any help, feel 100% free to IM me, email me, etc. I'm here.
Q: I'm doing a paper on diabetes. Can anyone give me information on what it is, if its curable, how you take care of it and what's being done to cure it? Thanks! I rate 5's for good answers!
A: Erm, you know it's called a research paper for a reason? You know, you're kind of supposed to look for accurate information on a topic?
I don't think you'll get exactly accurate information from this site, seeing as alot of people that are members here aren't doctors. You'd be better off visiting WebMD or searching for diabetes/juvenile diabetes/Type 1/Type 2/ etc. on Google. Make sure the site you get your information from is a reliable site, as well.
http://www.webmd.com
I hope you do well on your paper.
Q: ok, i've recently decided to become a vegitarian, but i was wondering is chicken considered meat, or poultry, and is poultry considered meat? so basically can i eat chicken?
A: Anything that you eat that comes from cooked or raw animal tissue is considered meat. So yes, chicken is considered a poultry meat. Poultry just means "bird." Goose, duck, chicken, dove, quail, etc. are all types of poultry.
You could become a semi-vegetarian and eat chicken and fish as well, since those are quite healthy for you.
Also, just an off-topic suggestion--make sure you get lots of protein in your diet that you'll lose from not eating red meats. Eat plenty of beans, or prehaps take a protein vitamin.
Good luck with your vegetarianism.
Q: Hi,
I am trying to find out how to achieve one of these hairstyles. There are two similar hairstyles in these 2 websites:
http://www.beautyriot.com/article.php?id=2023&c_id=54
http://www.beautyriot.com/article.php?id=2022&c_id=54
I understand that the right cut would help but otherwise how do you create the wavy, natural effect. I would like to copy it exactly, also which colours you think look best for the cuts.
thankyou for your time
Rachel
xXx
A: You're right--If you want that style of haircut, I suggest you get a few layers with side-swept bangs. Color doesn't really matter, but I think a chestnut-brown, auburn, or black color looks best. That's just my personal preference.
To get that naturally wavy look, take a shower at night. After you take your shower, squeeze all the excess water out of your hair and put some frizz-ease serum or some other anti-frizz product on your roots and on the ends of your hair, or where ever else you have problems. Take your hair in two sections and gently braid it. Hold it in place with two ponytail elastics. Sleep on your hair damp.
The next morning, undo your braids and gently separate the waves with your hands. Spritz your hair with a LITTLE bit of hairspray to keep it in place.
You now have a cute hairstyle that's great for any type of occasion. =)
I hope this advice is what you're looking for!
