Just giving you a few other multiplicative properties to help you out:
Distributive Property of Multiplication --
a(b + c) = ab + ac
Ex. 4(7 + 11) = 4(7) + 4(11) = 72
Commutative Property of Multiplication --
ab = ba
Ex. 5(4) = 4(5) = 20
Associative Property of Multiplication --
a(bc) = (ab)c
Ex. 2(4 x 5) = (2 x 4)5 = 40
Identity Property of Multiplication --
1a = a
Ex. 1(6) = 6
Multiplicative Inverse Property --
1/a x a/1 = 1
Ex. 1/7 x 7/1 = 1
I hope this information can help you on other math homework you may have--just make a reference to this anytime you need it. ]
I'm not going to do it for you, just because this is one of the easiest problems I've ever seen.
But all you have to do is distribute. Which is multiply the number outside, but directly touching, the parentheses to everything inside of the parentheses. ]
By expanding I THINK (THINK!!!!!) that you would just multiply it out which would end up being:
5(a-3)
5a - (5*3)
5a - 15
I'm pretty sure this is it, but math terms never were my strong point. Hopefully someone will give you a second opinion. ]
