Hey, I'm Elana... I'm 15 years old and I love to help people.. I know I know, everyone says that on this site, but I can be pretty good at giving advice sometimes. I'm into lots of sports, tennis, softball, and my new thing... Track, haha... I also dance, play piano (obviously) my saxophone (love it) and go online... A LOT! lol

Random stuff about me: I'm 5'1 and a 1/2".. I LOVE music..favorite bands are: switchfoot, green day, rooney, foo fighters, stone temple pilots, and any jazz music, my friends and family mean so much to me, things don't always go the way I want them to..(when does it ever work like that?) bowling rocks my world!! haha even if I suck! :) I'm extremely energetic and bouncy as my friends know, and I like to laugh, at anything...

Oh no hun! Don't think that for a second.. You're only 13, I know you don't feel young anymore but you have plenty of time.. It's better if you wait for it because then it's so special. In my own beliefs, no one is ugly. Everyone has something that makes them beautiful and you do too. I know exactly what you're going through so if you need to,IM me anytime.. but remember you're not unwanted and definitely not ugly at all! Soon you'll find someone who thinks you're perfect just the way you are! :)

So my cousin had me meet this guy via phone and we hit it off really well. He's funny and easy to talk to. I started to like him and Im pretty sure it was mutual. We planned to meet up and I was really excited until I learned a little more about him. He's a metal head. lol He's got the long hair and listens to that kind of crazy music. We dont have a lot in common and definately not the same type of friends. He's my complete opposite. So the question.. Which would be worse > To date him and be labeled as "desperate" because he's not exactly my type.. Or not date him and be called shallow because he looks different than what I normally go for?

Go for it! You wouldn't be labeled "desperate" It's really sweet that you hit it off over the phone and if your first thoughts were that you liked him go with it... Date him and if it doesn't work out then oh well.. but I think you should really go with your gut feeling. And don't judge a book by it's cover (I know I know ) You'd be surprised though at how many people aren't what they seem from their appearance.. Good luck!

Hey, I'm 13/f and I think that my best friend might be gay. I mean, she's rather stalker-like, won't stop givin me stupid out-of-the-blue hugs, and keeps telling me online that she loves me. It's making me feel really uncomfortable and I have NO clue what to do.

Sorry this kinda sounds like Mean Girls.. Anyway.. did you ever think maybe you're overreacting.. She may just be really friendly.. If she's been doing other things though that could be a sign, hugs aren't gay.. lol but since obviously she's making you really uncomfortable- tell her.. Next time she trys to hug you just pull away and say to her.. "You know I love you so much, but when you hug me a lot like that it makes me uncomfortable.." She'll most likely get the message.. but don't say that you think she's a lesbian.. that would be very wrong to assume.. Good luck!

Ok. There is this boy that i liked for over a year. i met him when i moved here from flordia. And we became friends right away! and we were kindof going out or whatever. We were getting really close untill i had to move again and we talk on the phone everynight and talk about how much we miss eachother. and he tells me all the time that i will make a perfect wife. Ok know here is where the bad news comes from Im moving back to florida and he is really upset he thinks that i will find someone hotter than him and never come back to see him and just forget about him or something. Honestly? That's entirely up to you.. do you still love him? It sounds like you do... Relationships come from 2 sides so to make it last you have to both work for it. I don't think you'll just fade away. Tell him that you've talked to him every night now for awhile and you could never just "forget about him" I think you'll still have a relationship but that's really your decision.. good luck! My friends hang out together like all the time and it annoys me, im not jelious but now they are starting to get my other friend to be with them... i don't like it and i don't want to confront them, what should i do?

Hey.. ok now this is really creepy cause I'm going through the exact same thing right now. I have two friends who are never apart. And now lately they're bringing my other friend into it..
Enough about me.. Well, ok I know you don't want to confront them, but honestly you're going to have to. That's the only way to get them to understand. Just pull one of them aside and tell them how you're getting kind of annoyed how they leave you out all the time and do things by themselves. You could talk to your other friend that they're starting to drag into this.. that might make her see that she can still hang out with you and maybe she could talk to them too. What do you get for a Male who is 16 likes heavy metal music, likes family guy, and doing dnagerous stunts?!

I think the first season of Family Guy is out on DVD now.. If you wanna spend a little bit of money you could get that for him. Or if he's into music the classic idea is get him a CD of whatever band he's into now. Or if he plays music, like guitar, buy him a book of guitar tabs something like that.. I'm sure you'll think of something he'll love..

Hey I have dark brown hair and I was wondering if I should put blonde highlights in them? I have done it before for like 2 years and then I stopped for some reason. I was wondering if blonde highlights are still in or should I leave my hair dark brown. Oh and I'm kinda sick of blonde so what other colors can I put in my hair. I have a pic on my column its xo_sherry_ox :)

I would go with a reddish brown color for highlights.. that would be really cute. When I had my hair highlighted they matched my hair color and then went about 4 shades lighter. Maybe they should do that with you too. But blonde is getting kind of old, especially at my school.. I would definitely go with the reddish color though for your hair! you're so pretty too! : )

Anyone know where I can buy a decent record player other than Ebay? I bought one off of there and it broke before the first song ended. Any web sites or store suggestions would be very helpful. Thanks!

A record player? what's that? no.. I'm just kidding.. Well my band teacher just broke his older one also and he said Best Buy and Circuit City sell them for a cheap price. (about $100) I want to get one too, actually, for my mom's birthday.. So try any electronics store, oh and amazon.com.. they have good stuff too.

there's this group in school i want to become apart of..well im friends with some of the ppl that hang out together but they hang out at a few ppls houses and i want to be apart of it and i don't know how to get into it.. i don't want them to think im weird or anything becsaue im not one of them i just wnat more friends...like my other friends. please help on how to get into this clique

Ok.. well I don't really like cliques.. lol but everyone has one so if you want to be in this one and you're already friends with a few of the people then it's pretty easy from here on out. Invite a few of them over to hang out one day on the weekend, or go see a movie. Then next time they're getting together they'll be like "oh, we should call ----" In school hang out with them too, but don't attach yourself to them too much. Just start talking to them and getting to know them more. They'll eventually see how cool you are! : )

I was hanging out with a group of my friends the other day after school. We were just hanging out having a good time and one of my friends pulls out a joint and lights it. She started passing it around our group of friends and everyone took a puff of it but me. I basically just stood there confused. These innocent girls that I had known since I was 6 years old had just lit up a joint and smoked it. I am completely disgusted by drugs and drinking and I will never do it because it's the worst thing you can do to yourself. They started making fun of me that I wouldn't smoke it. I wasn't hurt that they were making fun of me, but I was just hurt at their stupidity for smoking it. I don't know what to do. They've been my friends for a very long time and have always been loyal to me, but this is something I can't handle. What should I do? Should I tell them they should stop? I'm so confused! Please help.

I know exactly what you mean.. I too, will not drink or smoke and most of my friends do. It came as a shock to me too. You can try talking to them but, honestly, it won't do much good. They might just get defensive and try to tell you to stay out of it. In my opinion, it's their life and they have to learn that what they do has consequences. That's why when most of my friends do this stuff, I tell them I don't like that they're doing it, but I'm here for them all the same. There's really nothing more you can do. Talk to them and see how it goes, if they seem to really listen try to get them to stop as soon as possible. If you need anymore advice let me know..

hey, does anyone have any good ideas for a band name? theres like 4-5 s in it and all i thought of is "strength in scars" but it sounds kind of like my firends band so i dont think were gunna use it.. thanks so much [i'll give you credit or whatever if we do use it lol just give me your first name of somthing]

ok.. well I don't know the details of this, but maybe try combining all the singers names in the band.. or maybe find some really cool word backwards. haha or.. find a word in another language that means something. The word "Sometimes" in French, is Quelquefois.. ah I dunno I always thought that was a cool word... sorry if that wasn't much help! Good luck!

Haha... Actually one of my friends just recently told me to rub a regular dryer sheet in your hair. According to her it stops the static really well! I haven't tried it yet but I was going to..

i am sort of stuck in the middle. my mom lives in michigan and i live with my dad in california and now that its getting time to go to college i choose 2 really good schools from both states and applied to them and surprizing enough i got into all four ... no problem right wrong i have friends in both states each wanting me to go to the college in their state and i dont want to make anyone feel bad and say NO im not going but im still a little unsure about what i should say to them beccause i dont want to hurt their feelings ???

You can't please everyone.. but you know that already. Don't pick schools on whose where, do it by which school you realllllyyy want to be at for 4 years. Your friends know you love them, and they love you too, so just tell them," I think I'm going to ---- college" They might be a little upset at first but you can still see them, and talk to them. Just pick carefully and let the others down easily. They can't be mad at you for doing what's best for you! Good luck!

Ok, well first off, don't doubt your friends.. Sometimes when people look in the mirror they see something completely opposite than what's really there. But if you really do feel that way, then do something... Start exercising or play a sport. You don't have to try and lose weight just try and stay healthy and fit. Now about the guys.. There's nothing that you can do more to get the "hotties" than just be yourself. Guys love girls with confidence, ones that laugh and smile a lot, - just be subtle and flirty. But if a guy doesn't like you the way you are, don't change yourself for him.. he's not worth your time.. Good Luck! If you need anything else lemme know.

I got an expander the other day and my speech sounds horrible I also have to activate it. Does anyone know how to activate it properly? Also when my speech will come back, I sould metally retarded?

aww man!! I had one of those for close to 6 months.. I'm so sorry! Well to activate it or crank it, lay down on your back and have your mom or someone stick the key into the little hole and then have them twist it. It's gonna put a lot of pressure on your teeth and it probably will be sorta painful for a little while. And don't worry your speech will come back within like a week... It's really not so bad.. after awhile you even forget it's there! well good luck with that, if you need to know anything else lemme know!

hey.. i'm getting all depressed because i have to move and transfer to a PRIVATE school and wear a really retarded uniform, but i have to ride the public kids school bus and i know right now theyr gunna make fun of me. i don't want to tell my parents how much it's bothering me because, first of all it isn't going to change anything, and it's like their "dream house" and everything. it's not just the bus part that bothers me though, i'm scared of moving because ive never moved before and i really don't want to leave my friends. please help xxox -jeanine

Oh hun, I'm really sorry you have to move. Try and look on the brightside of things though. Just think about all these new oppurtunities you're going to have! I honestly would love to go to a private school, but maybe that's just me. My friend moved to the city this year and goes to one. She has so many cool classes that she takes! Anyway, about missing your friends, it's ok to miss them, of course you will! But you hopefully can still see them from time to time and definitely still keep in touch. It'll be really hard at first, but you'll make new friends real soon. Uniforms: Don't even listen to these kids if they try to start something. Again, my friend, tells me how easy it is to get up in the morning and not worry about what to wear. And finally, talk to your parents about what you're feeling. I am 15.recently my best friend said he likes this girl. he talks about her alot! I think its cute! but anyway. Recently he has said he has lost feelings for her and that he likes someone else. Ive known him for about 8 years and ever since then hes always told me who he likes and suddenly he wont! In class he'll say things that kind of lead me on to think that he may like me. like...randomly say i love you and he jokingly asked me to marry him (in the future of course!) now...am i jumping the gun or does he like me?!? Well it sure does sound like he likes you.. BUT don't take our advice on here, cause we don't know him. lol but you do.. he's your best friend. Just make small talk with him and say,"Have you ever liked me as more than a friend?" (Only do this if you're ready to hear him maybe say yes.) From there it's up to you whether you like him or not.. It depends on how severe of a case of Cerebral Palsy you're born with. It's not a disease, I mean it doesn't get worse as you get older. But because some people have it worse than others they can get sick from other things, like pneumonia.. But there's no set age you'll die, and if you're healthy you would die at a normal age.. if you wanna know more leave one for me in my inbox.
