Can opposites really attract?

Question Posted Wednesday February 2 2005, 8:24 pm

So my cousin had me meet this guy via phone and we hit it off really well. He's funny and easy to talk to. I started to like him and Im pretty sure it was mutual. We planned to meet up and I was really excited until I learned a little more about him. He's a metal head. lol He's got the long hair and listens to that kind of crazy music. We dont have a lot in common and definately not the same type of friends. He's my complete opposite. So the question.. Which would be worse > To date him and be labeled as "desperate" because he's not exactly my type.. Or not date him and be called shallow because he looks different than what I normally go for?

well you know what they say.........Opposites attract. I think you should date him and just see what happens. I mean just because hes not exactly like what you are usually going with doesnt mean that you dont know him as much as you could. Ya'll could really have somethings in common and you just dont know it yet. if you want to get to know him better before you date him then go for it but you could learn either way if ya'll have somethings in common that you just dont know about yet.

Good Luck!

if you like him and you think that it could work out, then go for it dont worry about what other people will think because if you hit it off it could be well worth it. but when it comes to dating.. opposites do not attract. but you could also find soome things that you have in common, even if its not music and appearance. you may be surprised.

Go for it! You wouldn't be labeled "desperate" It's really sweet that you hit it off over the phone and if your first thoughts were that you liked him go with it... Date him and if it doesn't work out then oh well.. but I think you should really go with your gut feeling. And don't judge a book by it's cover (I know I know ) You'd be surprised though at how many people aren't what they seem from their appearance.. Good luck!

Hope I helped!

Date him. And dont worry what people say anyway, they're assholes who have no life of their own. Opposites do attract. Trust me, I know.
Good luck!

Date him! Definitaley! I mean, who cares what other people think? Let them ... it'll give 'em something to do. You shouldn't have to worry about other people and what they have to say. If YOU have a good feeling about it, then I don't see anything wrong ith it. the least you could do it give the poor guy a chance. thats wouldn't be nice, just ditchingy him. If you feel there is something there, then there IS. I used to be the same way, I wouldn't date certain types of guys because I was worried about what other people had to say but I learned the hard way ... and I regret it because now I don't have a second chance. Remember don't judge a buok by its cover, lol. I think you should most definitaley go for it, and if it doesn;t work out, you can call it quits. Give him a chance! Good luck with everything & no worries@! Tell me how it all goes! =D

So, people where your from actually think of people who date someone who doesn't have the same personality as "desperate". Man, I don't envy you. How oddly boring would it be if everyone dated someone exactly like themselves.

looks dont matter. if you guys get along dont let some small differences get in your way. my b/f slept around and drank and did drugs and stuff.. i dont do any of those. if you love someone you will be willing to change enough to get along. he doesn't do any of that stuff anymore, but he still listens to crazy music. :) so go for it.

Give him a chance. If you liked him over the phone, then you might like him in person, too. Don't look too much into his type of music, and just because he's different doesn't mean he's a psycho. The best people are sometimes the weirdest. If you really like him, you won't care what others think about the pair of you.
