I am feeling really sad today. Something happened and I can't stop crying. How do I cheer myself up?
Write down on a sheet of paper the things you like about yourself, your accomplishments, your good points. Then read them to yourself over and over. It will build self esteem. Then again, that might not relate to whatever happened. I would suggest taking a nap for awhile. Sleeping always makes you feel better and it helps the time pass. Also, if you work out (if you can get the nerve to) you'll naturally be feeling more spirited throughout the day. The worst thing you can do is sit in your room with nothing to do except think about it all the time. I hope this helped.
Hey! 14/f. I'm just wondering if anyone has every been through a situation like this: well I'm a freshman in HS now and I'm kinda worried about my lunch period. School hasn't started for me yet but I'm kinda concerned. My school starts at 7:15am, which means I'm going to have to eat breakfast before I go on the bus, which will end up being about 6:15-6:30 in the morning. My lunch period is going to be at 12:35pm. This means I will have to wait almost 6 hours to eat...and I'm kinda concerned because last year I could barely last 3-4 hours. Well I can't change my schedule or switch lunch periods, the school has already made it clear that we have to stick with the schedule they gave us. I just wanted to know if anyone had any ideas on what I can eat that will fill me up for 6 hours that I can prepare in the morning/or the night before school. Or any snacks I could jam in the hallway in-between classes. Thanks in advance!
Yeah, that's a tough one. My advice: eat plenty for breakfast, more than usual. Have a bowl of cereal, plus a piece of fruit, plus a cup of yogurt, plus half a bagel(Just an example, mix it up a little bit). I try to eat two servings of bread, a serving of fruit, and a serving of dairy on most mornings just because it seems to satisfy me for a long time. Eat your fiber for breakfast, it sits in your stomach longer (bread and fruit and veggies) and protien fills you up too (dairy products have quite a bit of protien). Then, pack a few snacks with you to school. Granola bar, energy bar, pretzels, crackers, popcorn, nuts, grapes, anything. Just keep those in your locker and grab some when you need a boost. Also, some teachers don't mind if you snack on something in class, as long as it doesn't make a mess. Most teachers will understand the situation, so if you just politely ask if its okay if you bring a snack to the class, they usually say yes.
well im 13/f and i haven't gotten my period yet. i guess i have big boobs i'm almost a B. ALL my friends have got theres but i dont know when i'm going to get mine, i hope soon. help me...
Well, part of it depends on genetics, so you'll be more likely to get yours at about the same time your mom did. Then again, there is no absolute way to tell. It's just one of life's little surprises =P.
i have a problem with my weight. my mother works from 3pm-11pm, so that leaves dinner up to my dad. My dad can't cook. He can only barbeque, and make chicken cutlets...and pasta. So every night we either have something barbequed [like hamburgers, hot dogs, etc.] or pizza or fast food. I have high cholesteral and I'm supposed to be trying to get it down since it's very high, but I can't do it with the way my dad "cooks". I do have a treadmill and I try to run a mile whenever I can fit in, but I do have school and other activities so it's hard to exercise everyday. What could I do to help bring down my cholesteral and lose some weight [or gain some muscle, either way] when I have to eat this food? I'm 13 by the way, so I can't exactly cook myself.
♥
Just because your 13 doesn't mean you can't cook. That's silly! I know 9 year olds that cook their own meals! You can do it, its really not that bad. When you're at the grocery store, grab a bag of romaine and some veggies and fruits. Just cut up the romaine, throw it in the bowl with some chopped carrots and zucchini and peppers or whatever you could possibly want, top with some shredded cheese, croutons, and a light dressing, and WA LA! A healthy meal. For protein, try grilled salmon or beans. If your dad can barbeque, then he might not be too bad with the salmon idea. Just tell him that you're concerned about the health of the two of you, and you want to give some new foods a try. Good luck, its a lot of fun to experiment with different foods!
Hey iam iam not pregant or anything, but iam so fat that one of the people that comes to the school to recruit people for the army when I went up their to help a friend sign up asked me if I was pregnant and then he laughed what can I do to lose weight so that dosn't happen again iam only 17 and iam about 5 foot and weigh 145 lbs what should my normal weight be and how can i lose it fast?
Don't let something like this bother you so much, I know that's easy for me to say, but try. Based on the stats you gave me, your BMI is about 28.3, but that isn't nessecarily accurate. To get into a normal weight range, you would need to lose 15-20 lbs. First of all, you are taking the wrong approach to losing weight. Don't try to lose it fast, unless you plan on starving yourself for THE REST OF YOUR LIFE. The minute you start eating again, you'll gain all of it back and more. So I don't suggest that. At first, just cut back on junk food slightly and get a little exercise. Take a walk in the morning, go swimming when you get home from school, dance around your bedroom, take your bike out, do ANYTHING, just MOVE!!! It doesn't need to be 2 miles on a treadmill right now, just get used to being more active. Once you start putting energy out, your body will naturally feel more energetic. When you think you're ready, try going for a short jog, or doing some crunches. By this time you should have lost some weight. Don't stress!! It will work if you give it time. Remember it's not a diet...it's a new lifestyle. good luck babe
okay i'm 13 and i havn't had my period yet. i live with my dad so its really hard to bring up that subject, and i cant shave my legs because, again it hard to bring up the subject. i have air under my arms, and i'm guessing i should be shaving...but how do i bring up tht subject. what should i do? i cant go to anyone else either.
thanks in advance
My mom is not home much either, so I was in a similar situation to yours. I decided that I wanted to shave because I felt that it was pretty gross to have that much hair under my arms and on my legs, so I just found a razor (I don't know if you could do that since you don't live with your mom) and I decided I'd shave my legs. And nobody had a problem with it--I told my mom I started shaving over the phone, and my dad just noticed eventually. And they didn't make a big deal out of it. And the period problem...if you don't have a pad on hand, then go to a friends house who has their period and ask if you can borrow one just incase cuz your all out. Then once you do get your period, just gently let your dad know and tell him you need to get whatever you need. He's a grown man, he knows everything you're talking about--he won't bite. good luck to ya!
I have volleyball try-outs in roughly a week, and I would appreciate any advice on how to do well at them. What should I eat, what should I do beforehand, when should I sleep, and any advice fromother volleyballplayers would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Eat something familiar that will give you energy too. Like, waffles or your favorite cereal. Don't eat anything too sugary though, cause you'll get a sugar spike, and when it's over you'll feel drained of energy. Get a good sleep (I don't know exactly how much you need, but at least 8 hours, I'd suggest 9). When you're at tryouts, be LOUD. Call for the ball, cheer on your teammates, and go for EVERYTHING! It will most definitely bring attention to you. I am a volleyball player, and I know those are the little things that make a good player an amazing one. Good luck, hope you make it!
when my friend is telling me something online, sometimes i will just be like, "alrightty" or "kay". i dont do it alot, either. then she thinks i'm mad or annoyed, when im not. there's just nothing else to say. what should i do? i tell her im not mad but i dont thinks she believes me.
Tell her you're not mad at all, and then change the subject. Or if there is absolutely NOTHING to say to her, just say "alrighty or Kay" and add a smiley face next to it so that it adds the impression that you are not mad.
Hey peoples
Whenever it comes time to make a decision, let her pick first so that she can't pick what everyone else does. Or when she asks you for an opinion, say "They all seem alright" or something like that. She wants to be a copycat, so don't give her anything to copy. Maybe she'll realize her problem.
sometimes my freinds and i will be watchin a movie and i will say somethin and my one friend will just sit there and not say anythin. like i may say i like her dress on drew barrymore and she will just sit there.
why does she do that and not say anythin? i know she hears me cause other people respond to me.
Maybe she is just shy or underconfident. She might not want to say what she thinks because she is afraid that you won't agree. Maybe, to get her to talk more, say "I love that dress on her, don't you think so (name of friend)" Maybe something along those lines. Directly include her in the conversation. It will make her feel more comfortable. I have a feeling that's the case. Good luck!
on the first day of school kids are always hanging out with there freinds in litle groups they dont really care about the new girl and i dont want to juststand there by my self but i dont want to go up to them and be all you have no clue who i am but be my friend what do i do?
Find a few people that look like a good group of friends. Then just small talk with them. Like just make a few small jokes. Show them your personality. Right now it sounds like you're just hiding out in the background. Make yourself noticable. Be friends to EVERYONE< don't start taking sides with people or making fun of people because the other ones do. And smile a lot, it makes a person much more likeable. I know it's hard to take that first step, but be brave (i mean what do you have to lose??right?) Good luck! You'll meet people eventually just give it some time.
Are tacos good in a diet are they unhealthy or healthy
yes, I would imagine that tacos are good for you since they have such a variety of foods from all of the food groups (cheese, tortilla, tomato/lettuce, beef or chicken) but unless you make them yourself, you can't ensure that what you're eating isn't full of fat or salt. Also, if you like salsa, spicy foods can boost your metabolism a bit, so add some hot sauce and enjoy!
i eat way to much all the time. like im not overweight or anything but i know it will cetch up to me sooner or later so i jsut need ways to stop eating so much & thinking about food all the time.
Eat small meals throughout the day rather than the traditional 3 set meals every day. If you can, try to eat the high-fiber foods before you eat the other stuff whenever you eat a meal. Fiber makes you feel fuller, so for instance, eat the salad before the pizza, or eat the apple before the peanut butter sandwich. Fruits veggies and whole grains are full of fiber. Start off your day with a fairly large meal that has plenty of carbohydrates(which includes fiber) and some protein. Drink water if you think you're hungry. It might just be thirst. Also, before you snack on something consider if you are really hungry or not. If it was truly hunger then you'd be satisfied with a bowl of regular oatmeal. If not, it's most likely a craving. Don't feel bad about eating so much as long as you are active, and you're eating the right foods in the right proportions. If you are trying to keep your mind off of food, I suggest getting out of the house or spending time with friends. Also, exercise will surpress your appetite, so maybe go for a walk if you find yourself thinking about food. These things work for me, you should give them a try.
Lately my stomach has been "growling" a lot. My mom told me it's because I'm not eating enough but I thought I was?
I eat like 3 big pieces of chicken. I have noodle soup. I eat two plates of italian noodles. I have a piece of pizza and some chips. And I'm full..
Do i have to eat more?
If you feel full, then don't keep eating more. Your stomach might be growling because you are digesting. Also, maybe you are not spacing out your meals right. Do you eat enough early in the day (i.e. a big breakfast and lite snacks)? If you do not, then you'll be very hungry at dinner, and no matter how much you eat at dinner, your stomach will growl. You shouldn't go for more than 4 hours without eating anything, just to keep your energy levels up.
Lately when I wake up from sleep or a small nap.. my mouth tastes all gross. I get bad breathe and it feels like something gross is all over my teeth and the back of my mouth.
What's wrong?
[I do brush my teeth twice a day. I use mouthwash and I floss too.]
So I dont know why I have to have a disgusting mouth everytime I wake up.
You could be breathing with your mouth open at night, so you get more germs and gross stuff going through when you sleep. It's genetic, and a hard habit to break though. I have that habit, and I always wake up with a disgusting taste in my mouth. I just always use mouth wash right before I go to bed and right when I wake up. Good luck
i've been told that if you don't eat enough your body will go into starvation mode, and it will actually cause you to gain weight.
is this true? because i was thinking and then how do people with anorexia (not that i'm going to become anorexic or anything) lose weight. because if they hardly eat anything, won't their bodies go into starvation mode and cause them to gain weight?
THANKS!
It is true for most people who go on low calorie diets. This is because once they have lost the weight, they'll give up on it and they go back to eating normally, except they have slower metabolisms and everything they eat sticks to them. Then again, there are a few people who can stick with the low calorie diets. They continue to lose weight, just as everyone else did, except they never quit and give up on it. They just keep digging themselves down into a hole, getting thinner and thinner (which is what an anorexic person does) and it is SO stupid because they destroy their bodies.
what are some different food choices that are high in protein but arent meat? i dont like eating meat very much except for chicken which i have all the time and an occasional cheeseburger.
THANKS SOOOOO MUCH!
any kind of nuts, peanutbutter, yogurt, oatmeal, eggs, fish, tuna
Hello, I'm 5'3 and 160 pounds. I recently went to the doctor (last Thursday) and he noted to me that I need to lose 20+ pounds.
Now since last Thursday I have lost 5lbs. Well now I'm wondering if I hurting or depriving my body of the correct foods.
For lunch I'll have a Slim Fast drink (200 calories) and that is usually around 2. I wouldn't eat anything again until 6:30 which is usually dinner. And my dinner is usually 600-800 calories.
But here is the thing in between that I work out for 45 mins to an hour. Which when I do it I do 100 cruches,200 arm exercises with weights, and bike ride for 40 mins.
Does it seem like I'm doing to much?
Thank you to anyone in advance!
One problem is that you aren't eating enough in the first place. If you stay that active, then you need more than only 800-1000 calories per day. Your body is putting itself in starvation-mode, and the weight you lost was probably water weight. As soon as you start eating normally again, you'll gain it back and maybe more. My suggestion. Eat a somewhat large breakfast, (300 calories at least??figure out what works for you) and then a snack, then lunch, a snack, and a tiny dinner. Before you work out, eat something small(you could just work out after you eat your snack). Make sure that in the 20 minutes after you finish working out that you eat something to replenish the glycogen you burned off. If you don't eat anything, then your body will resort to burning muscle to compensate for the lost energy. If you can keep the muscle you have and build on it, you'll burn more calories when you are at rest. Make sure that you eat plenty of fruit and veggies with a lot of fiber and eat whole grains rather than white breads. Whole grains may have more calories, but white breads have no nutritional value, and therefore are considered empty calories. Hope this helps, I know it's a lot. Just try to stick with it, you can do it!
Hey guys, what kind of products do you know of that work really great on controlling frizz? Only suggest kinds of creams or spray stuff (not hairspray, gel, mousse or any of that because I don't use it) thanksss :)
I have really thick curly frizzy hair. I use a product by Redken called spin control. I put it on my hair when it's very wet and then I either sleep on it or I let it air dry. Its too hard to keep the frizz down if you blow dry it. I also use frizz-ease products, they are good.
wat are some foods that have protein that you eat for breakfest (like a banana)help
eggs are a great source of protein...
oatmeal(you'd be surprised)
sausage
yogurt(some kinds)
bacon
soy milk
protien shakes
