Doing to much?

Question Posted Friday August 4 2006, 12:33 pm

Hello, I'm 5'3 and 160 pounds. I recently went to the doctor (last Thursday) and he noted to me that I need to lose 20+ pounds.

Now since last Thursday I have lost 5lbs. Well now I'm wondering if I hurting or depriving my body of the correct foods.

For lunch I'll have a Slim Fast drink (200 calories) and that is usually around 2. I wouldn't eat anything again until 6:30 which is usually dinner. And my dinner is usually 600-800 calories.

But here is the thing in between that I work out for 45 mins to an hour. Which when I do it I do 100 cruches,200 arm exercises with weights, and bike ride for 40 mins.

Does it seem like I'm doing to much?

Thank you to anyone in advance!

One problem is that you aren't eating enough in the first place. If you stay that active, then you need more than only 800-1000 calories per day. Your body is putting itself in starvation-mode, and the weight you lost was probably water weight. As soon as you start eating normally again, you'll gain it back and maybe more. My suggestion. Eat a somewhat large breakfast, (300 calories at least??figure out what works for you) and then a snack, then lunch, a snack, and a tiny dinner. Before you work out, eat something small(you could just work out after you eat your snack). Make sure that in the 20 minutes after you finish working out that you eat something to replenish the glycogen you burned off. If you don't eat anything, then your body will resort to burning muscle to compensate for the lost energy. If you can keep the muscle you have and build on it, you'll burn more calories when you are at rest. Make sure that you eat plenty of fruit and veggies with a lot of fiber and eat whole grains rather than white breads. Whole grains may have more calories, but white breads have no nutritional value, and therefore are considered empty calories. Hope this helps, I know it's a lot. Just try to stick with it, you can do it!

Well first off, i would like to say CONGRATULATIONS on losing the 5 lbs. I think you are doing fine, although you should eat breakfast and drink more water. I am currently trying to lose a little weight myself and how you are exercising sounds fine. Keep Going! <3

I think that this sounds about right... be sure not to skip out on breakfast! And don't eat sugary cereal either. Eat eggs and bacon or oatmeal or waffles, something filling, yet healthy. You should vary your exercises on different days. Like maybe weight training twice a week, or running every other day. Youy could ask a P.E. teacher or a personal trainer about this if you want to keep in shape. Lunges are good things to be doing, too. Keep up the good work!

You should eat breakfast.
Most deff. It is thee most important meal. Eating healthy, & not a stupid slim fast drink, is better. Stop drinking that junk. It doesn't even work well. Drink 8 glasses of water a day. & eat breakfast lunch & dinner. It will boost your metablism. Take an hour long walk. I lost 10 pounds, in one week. Oh yeah, no junk food.
get a good amount of sleep, it will make you less hungry.

hope that helped. kbye

Okay, well this is just my idea but you can eat more during the day just as long as you eat portionally. Like don't get 50 pounds of steak only at dinner and not eat anything during the day. Have a little something for breakfast, because people say breakfast can help you lose weight. By the way if you want to lose weight faster no more soft drinks and drink SO much water and put a little lemon juice, it works great! Just eat a little food every hour and I mean not a whole lot like maybe 150 to 200 calories every 2 hours. If you do this it increases your metabolism to burn fat quicker. So keep on doing that excercise and don't eat 600 calories for dinner, separate it out okay??

Good luck! Much love && sunshine!

Are you kidding me. I weight a whole 135 pounds of muscle (just kidding, but lets say Im very fit) and I still think its not enough. You are on the right track babe, dont let anyone tell you otherwise. The fact that you have decided to change and are so disciplined to do it, is just admirable. Its very hard for people to get that kind of discipline, believe me I know. I used to be a wrestler in high school. Once you start "seeing" the results, you'll be glad you decided to make a change. I promise.
