Lately when I wake up from sleep or a small nap.. my mouth tastes all gross. I get bad breathe and it feels like something gross is all over my teeth and the back of my mouth.
What's wrong?
[I do brush my teeth twice a day. I use mouthwash and I floss too.]
So I dont know why I have to have a disgusting mouth everytime I wake up.
While you are sleeping your mouth doesnt produce saliva that breaks down bacteria ((and when you drool thats getting rid of saliva that was already in youe mouth)) so when you wake up you have that 'morning breath' that is stinky. Everybody has it at one time so the best thing to do is brush your teeth and use mouthwash when you wake up.

It's because I sleep with my mouth open and so overnight, my mouth gets all dehydrated and all the air and everything makes it that way. So what I do in the morning is I just go to the kitchen and take a few sips of water and I do it too before I fall asleep. That should help. I hope I helped. :] [ MelLeDisko's advice column | Ask MelLeDisko A Question ]
AskAndy answered Tuesday August 8 2006, 3:53 pm: to downplay the grossness, first you should buy a pre brush rince kind of thing. you swish it like mouthwash then you brush your teeth at it takes away more plauge. then you can get a tounge scraper so there wont be as much plauge on your tounge. some toothbrushes have toungescrapers for the back of your tounge near your throat but dont go too far. then use your mouthwash and floss, but alcohol free is best. stay away from toothpastes with sugar. after doing this you shouldnt get morning breath anymore. if you still do, before you go to sleep, put a few drops of mouthwash on your tounge. if it continues it could be because you sleep with your mouth open, you have some kind of stomach problem or things like that. FireFairy141 answered Tuesday August 8 2006, 3:26 pm: sadly, this is called morning breath, and yes, it is gross. So, ^^ no matter what, your going to have it when you wake up, so you might as well just brush your teeth every morning, and prepare for the next day of yucky-ness.
thelaura answered Tuesday August 8 2006, 3:24 pm: You're most probably sleeping with your mouth open, allowing air to get in and making it dry.
You can try taking a cup of water to bed with you, incase you wake up, or for the morning.
If you have a blocked nose, or if you snore, this can affect it too.
Are you dehydrated? Do you drink enough through the day?
Also, if you are taking any medication, this can make your mouth like you've explained when you wake up.
It's nothing to worry about, but if you want advice, you're better off asking the dentist. :) [ thelaura's advice column | Ask thelaura A Question ]
curliecue answered Tuesday August 8 2006, 3:09 pm: You could be breathing with your mouth open at night, so you get more germs and gross stuff going through when you sleep. It's genetic, and a hard habit to break though. I have that habit, and I always wake up with a disgusting taste in my mouth. I just always use mouth wash right before I go to bed and right when I wake up. Good luck [ curliecue's advice column | Ask curliecue A Question ]
bigboy13 answered Tuesday August 8 2006, 3:00 pm: it's morning breath and the stuff on your teeth is probably plauqe. when you sleep plaque is created witch causes bad breath. just brush your teeth when you wake up and it should go away.
