OK so i'm at a new school and like i made this one fried ... lets call her susan. So susan invited me over to her house for halloween with some of her friends too. I don't know for sure but i've heard her friends talking about doing drugs and all (not planning it for halloween but talking about it in like the past sence) I'm pretty sure Susan doesn't do drugs or anything but i do think that she drinks. I don't do any of that stuff, nor do I want to. Do you think I should go to her house and take the chance? PLEASE help me... i'll rate EVERYONE! (link)

By all means - go to her house... but not matter what - STICK WITH WHAT YOU BELIEVE! Don't let perceived pressure seemingly force you to do something you absolutely don't want to do. If they're drinking and you don't want to, just decline. If they can't deal with that, then don't feel obligated to stay. You shouldn't feel embarassed for sticking to your values, and if they can't live with your decision, then that's their problem, not yours. Again, I'd go ahead and go, and hopefully your friend will understand your commitments and not try to pull any stupid stunts on you. Make sense?

Thanks so much for helping me with that dxm question...Um but i have one more q. It's embarssing but...Uh i cant tell if i have to pee. Like i'll sit down thinking i have too n i'll try..and uk that feeling when u havent pee'd in a long time? I get that but nothing comes out. So i think i fucked up my kidneys...Think so to? Or could this be a sexual problem...cause i also had sex.. So sorry I'm asking this stupid question. Thanks so much.

One shot shouldn't kill your kidneys. If anything, it would wear on your liver more first - then go after your kidneys. If you're feeling pressure on your bladder, but nothing is happening, I would guess urinary tract infection, as this is a common symptom of it. Certain sexually transmitted diseases can cause that symptom, too, however. Either way, a course of antibiotics is likely in your future to treat that, which requires a trip to the doctor's office.
If you had shut-down kidney function, you'd likely be dead by now, or at least hurting really badly with swelling and pain all over your body. And that would require total kidney failure - and people can live fine with only one kidney. Our kidneys and livers are inherently over-sized to handle all the potential abuse they take over the course of our lives.
If you're allowed to drink caffinated beverages, you might think about having a pop, then follow it up with several glasses of water - caffeine is a diuretic, which WILL make you pee more, and the water is there to flush out your system. At worse, it'll cause irritation in your bladder, which would confirm some sort of bladder/urinary tract infection.
No matter what, see a doctor. Don't risk your health. As stereotypical and/or dumb as it may sound, don't ruin your health at a young age and have to pay for those mistakes for the next 70+ years.

hey .. my boyfriend is in the hospital rite now .. hes in intensive care .. he got into a car accident and now has a fractured skull, bleeding in the brain. the doctors have him in a drug induced coma right now..and they dont predict him to wake up for a few months, and then they will run the tests on his brain .. they are currently waiting for the swelling to go down on his brain. surgery was going to take place, but they decided to just wait for the swelling to heal on its own .. they dont expect him to wake up for several months now..but my question to you, is .. that im realllllyyy scared ... do yu think he'll be okay? hes in one of the best hospitals in jersey but still .. i need some truth..thnx .. anything yu say ill give yu a 5 .. If they are indeed planning on his recovery, then I'd say things at least have a ray of hope. Usually the drug-induced coma is done for very good reasons - to let the brain slowly repair itself. I wish I could tell you something more comforting, but I am really at a loss - at least I can offer you my sympathies and hope that you are able to stay strong. Look to friends, your family, and his family for support, and look to support them in return. I can hope that since they opted to not perform surgery, that the doctors expect a good outcome in the end. I wish you, your boyfriend, and your families good luck and hope everything turns out ok for you all.

Okay..I'm not sure if anyone can awnser this question for me, but just incase someone can i'm gona ask. I recently did dxm..its also known as skittles. And i know thats really stupid. Now i'm regretting it. I'ts about a day after and I'm feeling really dizy still. Like i did when I was on it. I'm thinking i should probaly go see a docter but mabye everyone feels like this? I did it with my bf too and he doesnt feel it any more..so i'm starting to worry. I'm also on anti depresseants so i think that might have something to do with it. Plz dont delete this question. I need some opinons before i tell my friends or family. Plz help me! ..

Options? You really don't have any options. You are medicated, and were stupid enough to take some other substance without thinking of the consequences that could have on your health. Fess up and go see a doctor. Many antidepressant drugs are coctails of uppers such as various amphetamines. Others effect the central nervous system in similar ways through other forms of drugs. By taking dxm - which is really just the active from cough syrup - dextromethorphan - you've introduced a narcotic. Yes, dex is related to Morphine, which is related to Codiene and Heroin. Dex can create a feeling of euphoria, which can lead to paranoia, and also cause massive constipation - yeah, that sounds fun. And yes, being an opiate, it is not wise to take them while on antidepressants.
If you are indeed still feeling loopy from doing this, GO SEE A DOCTOR! Stop putting your health at risk over embarassment. I'd rather you be emabrarassed than dead.

i've been playing guitar for a while now, and think i should take a step up from my junk old one. i don't have the deepest pockets, but might be able to manage around $400 after a while. I'm not so much into the les paul or stratocaster hype and am looking for something different and good, but not too gothic looking, my main choices so far are the fender cyclone, the ESP viper, and the epiphone flying V. any suggestions are appreciated, thanks (link)

I would not rule out Ibanez guitars! Ibanez make some kick-ass guitars, and have many that are very affordable. Beyond that, I'd take the Cyclone over the others you listed. ESP guitars just seem like a joke to me, and the flying v, while cool looking, is more gimmicky than anything. I'll add to this later if I think of anything else. Mind you, I cannot say that this indeed happened, only that it is about the only possibility I can think of at the current moment to explain what happened.

**OK my friends name is Nancy.(changed to be confidential)Her idea of fun is drugs. Any time she can get a hold of a drug she takes advantage of it. The drugs "I KNOW OF" that she has tried is coke, aderal, and defently weed! Chronic is what she lives for, everyday after school she smokes with her sister. Any other drug she usually doesnt tell me bout. She also drinks. I dont think she does alot. Whats the problem your asking? my friend just turned 13 4 months ago!! Yea...so everytime i try to tell her "Nancy you're so much better than that and you kno it!" she just goes "Dude its nothing it cant hurt me" Nancy is a smart girl, she could do much with her life! I never kno if an ingrediant in any of the drugs she takes she could be allergic to. I need help, what do I do?!

You say she's smart, yet she believes that these things can't hurt her? Evidently she's unaware of the number of deaths caused by cocaine from first-time users. She's clearly living life as if she's immortal and untouchable. One day it'll kick her ass, and at least you seem to know it. Allergies are the least of the concerns here - adverse reactions to a drug are not always an allergic response, some are just side effects or a person's body's inability to handle the drug.
In all honesty, this is not something you should be left to deal with. Tell her parents. If that won't work, tell some other adult you can trust - particularly teachers or the like that have some sort of authority and legal obligation to protect your friend. But please don't think there is anything you can or should do directly - that's not your job, nor should it be. Your duty is only to try to get her the help she likely needs - and that has to come from someone of authority.

As I understand it, hives are tiny pockets of inflammation caused by an allergic response to something. In this case, you are likely allergic to penicyllin - something to be tested for, as the allergy, should it get worse, can be fatal. If you are concerned about the presence of the hives, take a benadryl - but no matter what, inform your doctor of this reaction - it might be necessary to pull you off the medicine and have you take something else. Medicine allergies should NOT be taken lightly.

Hi there! I've got my own column on here (EMiLYELiZABETH) but today I'm needing some advice.
I'm 2O/f and tomorrow I've got a huge job interview with the police department. My question is... what should I wear and how should I do my hair?? It's brown with reddish highlights, half way down my back (about to the bottom of my bra). I like it either up or down, so that isn't an issue.
As far as what to wear, I was wondering about pinstripe pants or a skirt? Also, what kind of shirt? I've got a few nice sweaters or some that I can layer with.
Any help would be GREATLY appricated!! Thanks so much!

ok i got this bacterial infection in my throat adn i was prescribed pills but i dont care much for them. i took them how i was suposed to for a week and i have like a bunch left but i feel fine, should i continue taking them even tho i feel fine?

People have for the most part said this, but I'll toss in my few cents:
By not taking all of an antibiotic, you run the risk of not only not totaly killing off the infection, but you run the risk of making that bacteria become resistant to that drug - so if you take it again, the drug won't be able to cure the infection. This is a common problem, sadly - with many strains of bacteria becoming stronger and stronger by people either not finishing a course of antibiotics, or on the other side of things - people demanding antibiotics from their doctors when they don't need them. Both of these things cause bacteria to become stronger and resistant to the drugs we have.
So yeah, finish taking the pills. You don't want to run the risk of relapse, and you don't want to cause further complications by either making the bug immune to the drug, or by rendering that drug useless.

I slip pills in food - I'll chew a cracker, then pop the pill in right as I swallow. That seems to do it. Really small pills I can get down by working up a bunch of spit in my mouth (yes, yes, I'm being gross again), then toss in the pill right before I swallow. I really suck at swallowing pills.

I have resigne from my current employer by giving three month notice period as per agreemant.Suprisingly they have accepted my resignation the same date and realesed me by saying that;in my case company has dicided to release me immideatly and did not impose the rule of deducting three month salary from my account.I simply did not understand how company can give me release order immideatly without giving me three month salary.What was the fun of giving three months notice.My whole family is suffering because of this financial crunch,I have a ailing mother and one year old child to fed.Company name -Pfizer limited;Country India.Designation- District Manager.Guwahati. You list the company as Pfizer - by that I assume the drug company. At most pharma companies, the second you turn in your notice to resign, they remove you from your responsibilities. It is a matter of liability for the drug company - they are under strict rules that regulate their business, and as such see people who are resigning as a potential liability - thus you are relieved of duty immediately. Often, though, you get severance pay for the remainder of the time you would have worked. However, being that you're in India, I do not know how the laws work there, so you might sadly be screwed.

I've always been wondering about this, if a woman has sex a week before her period is due, and she's pregnant but she doesn't know, will she still have the symptoms of PMS? Such as the cramping, bloating, back hurting, head aches, etc? I was just wondering becasuse the other day my mom was telling me about when she first found out she was pregnant with me so I figured I'd ask. Thanks! Not all women have PMS to begin with, so it is pretty much irrelevant in that regard. Also, many of the early signs of pregnancy end up seeming an awful lot like PMS anyway.

I really really want to learn guitar. I looked into lessons but their like 20$ a half hour! Its crazy. My friends tell me to just teach myself, but I have no idea how. And my sister told me to get a book or DVD on it to learn from. What do you think? And guitsrists around that could help me? lol. And anyone who taught themselves, how did you and how long did it take? (link)

If you dig through my column, I've answered this very question many times. Lessons really are the best way to go, and $20/30min is about the standard rate for low-end lessons. If you think that's a lot of money, I suggest you NOT look at professional lessons - seriously.
There are many tapes, DVD's, and even a few web sites with at least half-useful information for learning to play. Again, browse through my column, as I've linked to and listed lots of this stuff before.
Being self-taught requires a shitload of practice. Of course, taking lessons also requires the same amount of practice. Really, it is all about practice and dedication to wanting to improve.
For the record, so you don't think I'm just making this crap up, I've played bass guitar for 16 years, 6-string for about 7 or so, and saxophone for 20.
