swallowing stones
ok i got this bacterial infection in my throat adn i was prescribed pills but i dont care much for them. i took them how i was suposed to for a week and i have like a bunch left but i feel fine, should i continue taking them even tho i feel fine?

that is something that i would ask your dr. my guess is that you should because even tho you feel fine- bacteria can still be there and you need the pills to make sure they get destroyed so that you will be healthy.

You should continue taking them, cuz it could come back, not very likely, but it still could happen.

Actually, you should most certainly continue taking them.
Doctors advise you take medication even after you are better, to prevent the same problem from re-occurring soon again. Just because you feel better doesn't mean it is fully healed.

hey..no first i would ask your doctor if you should take more..it wouldnt be safe to just keep taking something wit out knowing from your doctor first..you wouldnt want to die...that would suck..you naw mean? well theres ma common sense...peace out!

People have for the most part said this, but I'll toss in my few cents:<br>

By not taking all of an antibiotic, you run the risk of not only not totaly killing off the infection, but you run the risk of making that bacteria become resistant to that drug - so if you take it again, the drug won't be able to cure the infection. This is a common problem, sadly - with many strains of bacteria becoming stronger and stronger by people either not finishing a course of antibiotics, or on the other side of things - people demanding antibiotics from their doctors when they don't need them. Both of these things cause bacteria to become stronger and resistant to the drugs we have.<br>

So yeah, finish taking the pills. You don't want to run the risk of relapse, and you don't want to cause further complications by either making the bug immune to the drug, or by rendering that drug useless.

Did the doctor tell you how long to take them? If not, keep taking them and call him and ask. But if he told you how long to take them, take them for however long he said, no matter how good you feel.

you should take the pills as long as the doctor or the bottle tells you too cuz if you dont then the infection might not be all the way gone yet and may come back even if you feel fine

Yah...my 6th grade science teacher told us about this (*I have no idea why this sticks out so much in my mind....) but she said that you might not become immune to the virus if its not all gone but the virus could become like...immune to the pills (*meaning it can fight off the pills so they don't work) So when it comes back there won't be any medicine to cure you =( So you have to take the pills for the amount of time prescribed

YES OMG i did that once (stopped taking pills) with a sinus infection and it came back worse. thoes are probally antibodics. your body needs all of them to compleatly kill of the virus

yeah keep taking them. Even though you dont feel it anymore the bacteria might still be there. Keep taking them tell their gone because that is how many your doctor wanted you to take.

Finish taking them. Your body needs all the anitibiotics in order to keep the disease from coming back. If you do not finish them, they may not work the next time you get an infection.

if they are anti-biotics... than yes... you should take them till u finish em... thats the best thing to do... or u could get the infection again... it could be worse the second time around...

yes ... if you start takeing medicine and dont follow threw there is a chance that the bacterial infection in your throat will comeback twice as strong .

You should read the label on the medicine bottle that was prescribed to you. If it says take them for a week, then don't take anymore. But, if it says take pills until you run out of them - then you need to still take them - even if all your symptons are fine and you feel great. =)

yes continue taking them! i had strep and a cough and i thought it was over bc i was feeling better so i stopped taking my medicine and guess what! IT CAME BACK! yeah so keeo taking it! kLg*

you should keep taking them becuase just becausae ur feeling fine doesnt mean that they still arent there. finish takin ur perscrotion untill ur doctor tells u not to

Maybe u should, But you could just stay off of it for a while and see how you feel, but if u start not feeling fine then go back on the pills. Hope this Helps. Shauni
