advice

My friends and I are going on a camping trip towards the end of next month. We live in the UK so it is likely to be cold and wet. We don't mind about that but one thing we are worried about is having to put the tent up in the rain. Does anyone have any tips?

In that case, practice putting up the tent beforehand. My sister and I got so good at putting up our tent one summer that we could do it in about 50 seconds. If you and your friends practice and have a detailed plan of who does what and when, you can cut the time that it takes to put the tent up by probably 80%. :)

Another idea is, look for a pavilion near your campsite. You can always set the tent up under the pavilion and carry it over to your site. Tents aren't heavy and if you have everybody take a corner it shouldn't be too hard to carry. That way, the rainfly will be on and the inside won't get wet at all.

Unroll the tent in the car! There's no use in trying to get it out of the bag and unrolled outside in the rain. You can't actually put it together in the car, but you'd be surprised how much time you can save just by taking it apart. You could even get the poles put together "inside" the car. You sit in the car and slide the pole out as it gets longer.

The biggest tip I can give you is to bring a sheet of plastic the size of the bottom of your tent and put it under your tent. The plastic will keep water from seeping up inside. The tent's rainfly is waterproofed, but the rest of the tent, including the bottom, is not! You could get pretty wet if the ground under the tent gets wet and the water seeps up through.

After the trip, make sure you let the tent air out, especially if you roll it up wet. It'll smell really bad the next time you use it if you don't!

Camping in the rain isn't that bad. I've been camping a lot so I've been stuck in the rain a lot. As long as your tent isn't really old or has holes in it, you will barely even notice that it's raining (except for the sound of course).

I hope that you have a good time and that luck is with you and that it doesn't rain! :)

ok,
well lately i have not been hungry,
like not because i am trying to starve myself
or something its just like im not hungry at all.
and when i eat its like food doesnt taste good,
i force myself to eat, because i know its not healthy if i dont.this has only been going on for a couple of days, and so i was jw if
this could jus be a phase my body is going though or somethng,or if anyone els has been through this.
thanks in advance for the help.

I never feel like eating when it's hot out. If the weather is hot and humid where you are, that could be why. Just keep doing what you're doing and it will go away soon. Good luck! :)

Sometimes I feel sad, and think life is not worth living. But I know killing myself won't be solving anything. My question is, is there anything (medicine wise) that can help me?

Yeah definitely. See a doctor to get a prescription for what would work best for you. Good luck! :)

So I'm going to be a junior this year.
I really am lonely. I like who I am,
I'm comfortable with myself to an extent, I mean I think I'm a pretty decent girl. But I've never had a boyfriend, I try flirting with boys. I dont know what I'm doing wrong, should I focus on school more, and then focus on boys?
Its just one of my biggest fears is being alone forever, I just guess I need reassurance on that I wont be. But it does seem evveryone around me has a boyfriend, so I dont know what I keep doing wrong :(

You're not doing anything wrong. The right opportunity just hasn't presented itself yet. Keep in mind that not everyone has, or has had, a boyfriend. Most have sure, but there are a ton of people out there in your same situation. You're far from alone. I didn't get a boyfriend until I was 18 and a half. Now I'm engaged and the girls that I was jealous of in high school are brokenhearted and single. Your chance will come. Try not to focus on it so much. :)

okay, so i measured myself and plugged in all of the measurements for a bra size calculator (and did it on more than one site) and they all say i should be a 34C. But i have on a 38B right now, and i dont know how i could be a 34C because right now the one i have one still seems kind of big for me.anyone know how that's possible?

It's possible because the size you are supposed to have is 4 inches smaller around than the one you have now! Four inches is a lot. Since the extra 4 inches are there, it makes up for the fact that it's a B instead of a C. Basically, your boobs are falling out of the sides into that extra space. Try on a 34C and it will probably fit you really well and be much more comfortable. If not, try a 34B. Good luck! :)

WEll ok my best friend is a girl and we have been through alot together and i really love her and dont want anything to happen to her and ill make sure that nothing does however, theres a problem she likes to get around and have fun with guys and it hurts/ pisses me off...by the way i dont like her more than a friends...she gives them head, let them finger her, and fucks them and im afraid one time somethings going to go wrong and she going to get pregnant...i want to convice her she dont need it but she just laughs at me and goes and does it anyway such as right now shes fucking a friend of mine in my basement...i dont no what to do...i want to tell her how i feel and also get her to stop!! Anythign in helpful! Thanks

All you can do is keep telling her how you feel. It might get through one of these days. Other than that stop facilitating her behavior. In other words don't let her use your basement! She is walking all over you. Friends shouldn't use their friends like that. Tell her that you don't approve of what she's doing and that she's not allowed to do it in your house. She can find someplace else to do it if she needs it that badly. Putting your foot down about it will probably upset her, but at least you can stop her a few times and at hopefully it'll sink in a little faster for her. Good luck.

What would you do if someone had alcohol poisoning. I know to like lay them on there side or something. but not really.

Yeah, lie them on their side, but the number one thing to do is get them to a hospital! If you've had alcohol too, call for an ambulance (911). Alcohol poisoning is exactly what it says. It means they've been poisoned. They could die from that! Even if you are underage it's better to get in trouble than be dead. Keep track of how much people are drinking and cut them off when they've had too much so stuff like this doesn't happen. If you prevent it in the first place you won't need to know what to do if it were to happen.

can i use fafsa grants to pay someone who lend me money for school?

No, the grants go directly to your school unless you have overpaid. If you overpay, the extra is sent to you in the form of a check.

ok so im going to be 18 in like 10 days and my mom is treating me like a child i have to be in the house at night by 12 all my friends can stay out late and im the oldest one in the group its so stupid im so responsible and i get treated like im 7 what can i do to change my moms mind about me staying out late and please dont say some b.s about how i shouldnt stay out late and drink and that garbage just answer my question please.. thanksss

Well, unless you want to move out and live on your own, I would say don't "try to change her mind". Begging her or coming up with good reasons why she should extend your curfew will only make things worse. The more you bring it up, the more suspicious she will become of your activities. I'm not sure if you were being sarcastic about the drinking comment, but if you weren't, no wonder she has set your curfew at 12 if you're going to be that irresponsible! Moms know what's going on more than you think and it seems like you have a really good mom. I know it sucks, but as long as you are living with her, she sets the rules. Stop bugging her about it and she might just let you stay out later.

That said, there's ways to make it seem like you're not begging or desperate or even asking at all. You're going to have to get your friends involved because you can't lie about what you're doing though. Get them all to attend a midnight movie (kinda lame, but you have to take baby steps in a situation like this!). Approach your mom and be really nice about asking to go. Say that you know that your curfew is 12, but a bunch of your friends are going to this midnight movie and you don't want to miss out. Give her the option of dropping you off and watching you enter the theater. Once you can get her to give on the curfew once, it'll be easier the next time. Take one step at a time and in the beginning always tell her exactly what you're doing and be truthful about it! If she says no to the movie DON'T get mad. Take the high road. Say something like "yeah you're right mom, I just thought I'd ask". Not whining about it or getting angry shows a lot of maturity and respect on your part. Plus, it's not the end of the world if you don't get to go to the midnight movie. Try something else a week or two later. Pretty soon, if you handle her "no"s well, she will most likely let you go. Keep working up from there. Good luck! :)

Good luck! :)

okay, so i've been dealing with acne for quite a while, and recently it has been going away..When i was in Maine for a vacation it seemed to go almost completely away, but now that i'm back it's starting up a little again. What could it be? Also, I took showers everyday in the morning. At my house, i usually take them in the evening. do you think that could affect it? Thank you.

Changes in weather and the air around you can do weird things. Everytime I go home from college I get really bad acne for a week or so. It's different air and different water that your body just isn't used to. It'll go away soon enough. Taking showers at different times doesn't make much difference. Good luck. :)

Are there any websites where I can watch south park for free. I've tried TV-links but half of the stuff doesn't work there.
Youtube isn't any good either.
Can anyone please recommend some sites?

Thanks.

I heard that verizon is starting this thing where you can get a new phone 4 months before your 2 year contract is up?? Did anyone else hear that & if so how does that work?? Thanks!!

I'm not sure this is what you mean, but as of now, after 22 months you are eligible for an upgrade. That means you can go in and get a new phone for free or for a greatly reduced price depending on which phone you pick. It's not 2 years (when they talk to you they usually round it up for some reason) it is actually 22 months. Soon, Verizon is going to be changing it to 20 months. 4 months shy of 2 years. I hope that makes sense. :)

okay so i do like guys i want to date them and make out with them and so and so, but whenever i see a picture of a hot girl on myspace or something i like it i guess.
i couldnt think of anything better to say.
but i don't like girls.
because then i would want to like kiss my friends or girls at school and i don't.
is that normal?

It's not normal for your age really, but it is very normal. As you mature, you get a sense for what is attractive and beautiful. In order to be bisexual or homosexual you would need to want to have sex with girls, which is completely different from being mature enough to look at a girl and think "that's kinda hot". What you have is more of an appreciation of the female body and an understanding of what's attractive than anything. It's intellectual, not sexual.

Even though you may feel a little turned on by the pictures, anything related to sex turns people on. Seriously. If you watch animals have sex on the Discovery Channel it could turn you on. That in no way means that you want to have sex with animals, that's nasty and completely wrong! What happens is, them having sex makes you think about sex, which triggers something in your body, not your mind at all.

Try not to worry about what sexuality you are. It's very complex and you probably know until you're in your 20's or maybe even older. At 15, your mind isn't fully developed yet, making it almost impossible to figure stuff like this out. There's really no reason to put a label on yourself. It will only confuse you further. For now just define yourself by what you do. If anybody asks, just say you're straight to avoid all the bad stuff that can come from your immature middle/high school peers thinking you're not.

As for the boyfriend troubles, don't worry. I know it's hard, but you will start dating eventually. I didn't go on my first date until I was 18 and I turned out just fine. I actually found out later that a lot of people had thought that I was a lesbian. Starting to date at a later age has nothing to do with your sexuality. Nothing at all. So don't worry about that. :)

My mom is gone on a business trip for 1 week and she left a couple of days ago, my dad is busy with work and my siblings are always with their friends... I spend a lot of time at home, since a lot of my friends are gone on vacations. Yesterday my dad told me to start acting more mature and helping around the house. Like doing the dishes and doing laundry. I can do the dishes but I'm not very good with laundry. So my question is,

- How do I seperate the piles.... Whites, colors and darks right?? ok but what about whites that have some color designs on them? Is it ok to wash colors that are not the same? Like blue and pink together? What about socks? My dad has socks that are white and gray. I know you wash towels and sweatshirts together right? does the color matter for those? I want to do laundry, but I'm scared I'll screw something up and my dad will be mad at me. I googled up laundry but there was only 1 good result, wikipedia and that was a little help. So any other helpful laundry advice?

There's nothing good on the Internet because there isn't a specific way to do it. Everybody does it differently. Ask your dad. That would be the responsible, mature thing to do, which is what he's looking for! If you ask nice enough and act like you really wanna learn how, he'd probably help you with it the first time. After that, you'd know exactly what to do and he'd probably not get too annoyed if you still had questions. Good luck. :)

Guys, beware!

Ladies, a question involving that particular once-a-month period... how heavy can a period get before it becomes a concern? My current period is extremely heavy, with clumpy bits of tissue. I can't even move without gushing like a stuck pig.

I've never had one quite like this, but then again, I've been losing weight, so could that affect it? What should I do?

Please don't go running to a doctor. If you went to a doctor they would probably tell you that it's nothing to worry about and that you need to calm down and go home. It would be kind of embarrassing. If you are really worried about it and want a professional opinion, call and ask about it. Don't go in or schedule an appointment. That's completely unnecessary. It's normal to get a heavy period every once in awhile. Some people have them every time. If you've been losing weight that could definitely affect it, as could a number of other things like diet, exercise, and stress level. As long as you're not getting dizzy or having unbearable cramps and it doesn't last more than a week, there's NOTHING to worry about. Just mention it to your doctor the next time you go in for a routine checkup. There's no reason to jump the gun on something like this. :)

What does hot stuff do to your face? like on commerical these girl's like put their face over steaming water and stuff. Does it really do good for your acne?

It can help, but the same thing happens when you take a shower! They probably didn't want to show girls taking showers so they showed that. Commercials do their best to stay as wholesome and family friendly as possible. So anyways, as long as you take hot (as opposed to cold) showers, or even wash your face with warm water every day, there would be no reason why you would want to start doing something like that.

Ok well one of my brother's friends always looks up..you know..bad stuff (like reading, looking, watching, every kind you can imagine) and it's so gross! and we only got one computer so imagine how grossed out i am when i see someone saved something on my acocunt..

Anyway, my computer breaks down sometimes so we gotta take it to get it fixed and one time the man told my dad that someone looks at dirty stuff so my dad's super suspicious.

Is there anyone i can do to delete all evidence form my computer other than the history so that people don't think it's me who watches it?

Set a password on your account so that your brother's friend can't get onto it in the first place. Give the password to your dad just so he doesn't get suspicious. If he questions you about why you did it, tell him. Say that you don't want whoever is using the computer to look at "bad stuff" to use your account.

To set up a password (just in case you're not sure) click the "start" button on the in the bottom left corner of your screen and then click on the name of your account. It's all the way on the top of the list of options that comes up when you click "start". When you click on your account name, a window titled "User Accounts" will come up. Click on "Home" then on your account. Click "Change my password" and you should be good from there.

Good luck!

hey my hair iss SOOOOO straight and i hate it
i really want it curly like miley cyrus
or vanessa anne hudgens

like me and my mom try everything like curling irons and roll ons, but my curls come out in a matter of minutes

so i asked my mom about a perm, she didnt say no but i can tell she is trying to talk me out of it she keeps on saying "that was a thing back in the 80's and it doesnt even curl your hair it basically just crimps it and makes it weird and kinky"

but for some reason i still REALLY REALLY want to get it so should i? is what my mom says true?
helpp

You could definitely get that done. There are a ton of different types of curlers that can be used for perms. In other words, you're not going to look like orphan Annie if you don't want to. There are curlers that will just make your hair wavy (like the girls you mentioned) with no actual curls at all. You can get your hair to look any way you want. I think that you should get one. Just talk to the stylist beforehand and make sure that he/she uses the right curlers! Let the stylist know what you want. Bring pictures! Good luck. :)

How do I tell what my ringsize is?

Help me!

I'm not sure where you're from, but if you live near a WalMart, the jewelery section there can measure it for you for free, as will the jewelery section in most any store. There are ways to measure it at home, but I've found that actual ring sizers are much more accurate. :)
